That’s a valid reason. Wrestling shows take a lot of preparation and the higher you go in the wrestling industry, the more effort they require. That is certainly true of weekly national television shows, and sometimes there are factors that impact the show that are beyond anyone’s control. That was the case this week as several names missed a television taping due to a serious situation. According to Fightful Select, several wrestlers missed this week’s AEW Dynamite and Rampage taping due to the impact of Hurricane Ian, which has been ravaging Florida. Two of the names who were unable to make the show were Swerve Strickland and Samoa Joe, with several others likely not being present. Earlier this week, AEW President Tony Khan excused any wrestler who lived in the hurricane’s path from being at the show. Controversial Star Returning To Wrestling After Nearly Two Year Absence

Welcome back? While WWE and AEW get most of the attention, there are a lot of other talented wrestlers performing elsewhere. That can open the door for a lot of fans to see stars that they new knew before, but sometimes these other promotions have stars that you have seen somewhere before. It seems to be the case again, and now a seemingly blackballed star is on her way back. Hurricane Pro Wrestling in Beaumont, Texas has announced that Tessa Blanchard will be appearing at their event on July 16. There is no word on what Blanchard will be doing on the show, though she is featured in the center of the post. Blanchard has not wrestled since September 12, 2020 for Warrior Wrestling. Since then, she has been living in Mexico with her husband Daga, following allegations of racist statements against a wrestler in Japan. WWE Legend Returning To The Company Under New Deal

He’ll be sticking around. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster and some of them have some rather distinct purposes. While most people signed are active wrestlers, there are others who are there more as a way to help promote the company. These are names you might remember from years past, and now you might be hearing from another one more often. Hurricane Helms, also known as the Hurricane, has announced that he has signed a Legends Deal with WWE, tweeting that it officially makes him old. Helms has worked for WWE on and off over the years, both as a wrestler and as an agent. He last wrestled for WWE in the 2021 Royal Rumble and has otherwise retired from in-ring competition. Helms does still make occasional cameo appearances on WWE television. It was the third match between the two on the “grandest stage of them all.” You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] As mentioned, this was the third meeting between the two WWE legends at WrestleMania. Austin had been victorious at WrestleMania 14 and 17; however, The Rock was able to pick up the victory in this final contest between the two. This match was a classic and sent each superstar on their own separate journey. Editor’s Opinion: Oh man, do I remember this one. The Rock was playing an arrogant, Hollywood heel, who was constantly badmouthing the fans and singing songs about how much he hated being in the various towns that he was in.
