Triple H Discusses Ratings War Between NXT and AEW

WWE Hall of Famer Triple H was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated in preparation for their major broadcast of NXT this evening on the USA Network. He discussed a number of topics, including the final match between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, the ratings war between NXT and AEW and more.
Below are some highlights from the interview:
On Ciampa vs. Gargano:
“This week is the culmination of the Ciampa-Gargano rivalry,” said Levesque, who is WWE’s Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development. “That will be spectacular, I guarantee it.”
On tonight’s 6-women ladder match:
“These women are going to be dominating the business for a long time to come,” said Levesque. “There is such depth, and we’re creating new talent. That bodes well for women in the sport. The deeper that bench is, the more we’ll see young girls who want to do this when they grow up. Ten years from now, there will be women saying that Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai and Xia Li inspired them. That’..

WATCH: Becky Lynch Discusses WrestleMania, Shayna Baszler, Much More

The champ is still here. WWE has come a long way in the year since WrestleMania 35 but there has been one constant in that whole time: Becky Lynch is still the Raw Women’s Champion. She is one of the biggest stars in wrestling and has shown very few signs of slowing down. Keeping the title this long is almost unthinkable but Lynch keeps pulling it off. That comes with some perks, one of which was on display Sunday.
On Saturday night at WrestleMania 36 Night One, Lynch retained the Raw Women’s Title in a surprise over Shayna Baszler. The win allowed her to move forward to the one year mark as champion, which is moving her rather close to the modern record for a women’s champion. Lynch has become a celebrity as well, and that was part of what she was doing the day after retaining the title.
Here she is again. Check out Lynch on SportsCenter:

Lynch was a guest on the Sunday morning edition of SportsCenter. During the interview, Lynch talked about her time working with ESPN before, inc..

AEW On Hiatus Following Marathon Taping Session

See you soon. The wrestling world (along with the rest of it) has been turned upside down at the moment. Everything is going nuts and there is no sign that it is going to be getting any better for a few weeks (at the very, very earliest). This is the kind of thing that wrestling companies are going to have to find a way around and AEW might have found a way to do just that.
The biggest problem with wrestling shows at the moments comes down to not being allowed to run events with more than ten people in a single place at once. That might work back in a territory era live event but it’s a big different with a two hour television show. That’s hard to do every week, but if you cut around the edges quite a bit, it can be done. That seems to be the case at the moment.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW is currently on an indefinite hiatus after taping several weeks worth of television in a marathon taping session over the course of this week. The shows taped could last them all the..

WWE Offers Money In The Bank Status Update

They’re certainly persistent. The WWE motto always seems to be “The Show Must Go On”. Whether it makes sense to continue or not, WWE has a tendency to never know when to take a breather. They have no off season and there is a television show every Monday and Friday night. That can cause some problems when a break is necessary, but it doesn’t seem to be the case here.
There have been a lot of changes in wrestling due to the spread of the Coronavirus, with the biggest being the lack of fans in the venues for the events. Most wrestling companies have just stopped running shows due to this issue, but WWE is not like most wrestling companies. Their shows continue in front of no fans, and that might be the case again going forward.
During Night Two of WrestleMania 36, a video aired advertising Money in the Bank, which is scheduled to take place on May 10. No venue was given, though the show was originally scheduled for the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. At the moment, there is n..

NXT Callup Takes Place During WrestleMania 36

Maybe the first of many. WrestleMania 36 is officially in the books and that means things are going to be entering a new phase starting this week on Monday Night Raw. While that shoe marks something like the season premiere, WrestleMania was the season finale. That being said, there was still time to introduce someone new and that is exactly what they did here.
One of the most fascinating things about WWE is seeing someone get called up to the main roster for the first time. You never know when you might see something like this happening and that is what makes the moments so special. They may not be as common as they once were but when they are that special, they feel big. That was the case on Sunday night at WrestleMania.
During Night Two of WrestleMania 36, Bianca Belair interfered and seemed to make her full time main roster debut. Belair ran in to help the Street Profits fight off Zelina Vega, Angel Garza and Austin Theory after the Street Profits had successfully defended the Ra..

VIDEO: AEW Couple Shares Some Very Happy News

It’s nice to have something different for a change. With everything going nuts at the moment, there is very little in the way of nice news coming from the world of wrestling. Yes there have still been shows and some matches might be better than others, but it seems that everything is in some kind of a negative light. This time around it’s actually something positive for a change.
Relationships in wrestling are hard to pull off. The lives of wrestlers are some of the most complicated things in the world with wrestlers running from one show to the next, often going around the country if not the world in the process. That can make things especially hectic, making it harder and harder to find time for a relationship of any kind. Therefore, relationships in the business can often be the best option. Hence where we are today.
AEW’s Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian have both posted videos to their Instagram showing Sabian proposing to Ford, who accepted. The two were on a beach taking a photo f..

CombatMania 36 Night Two Live Coverage And Results

Wrestlemania XXXVI Night Two
Date: April 5, 2020
Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield
We’re back for more of the same and that might not be the worst thing in the world. Last night’s part one wasn’t half bad but they are going to have a hard time surpassing that main event. There are eight more matches, plus the required Kickoff Show match, tonight so hopefully they can have another good one. Let’s get to it.
Kickoff Show: Liv Morgan vs. Natalya Morgan rolls her up for two to start so Natalya does the same for a standoff. Some more rollups get some more near falls until Morgan sends her into the corner. A running hip attack hits Natalya but she’s right back with her basement dropkick for two more. Natalya clotheslines her to the floor, followed by the surfboard back inside. Natalya: “ASK HER!!!!” That’s broken up and Liv’s Codebreaker gets two. The sitout wheelbarrow faceplant gives Natalya the same and they pinfall rev..

WWE Trying To Tape This Week’s SmackDown In Secret Location

They’re trying. We are in the middle of a never before seen event in wrestling history as you never know what is going to happen from one day to the next. With the spread of the Coronavirus changing one thing after another every single day, you never can tell what you are going to see on any given day. The industry is trying to hold on and in this case, WWE is doing something rather unique.
The biggest part of the problem for wrestling television at the moment is finding a place to shoot the shows. The vast majority of the United States is currently under government orders to shelter in place in an effort to help prevent the virus from spreading. As a result, it is very difficult to find a location to film anything. That has never stopped WWE before though and it might not now.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is currently planning to tape this week’s SmackDown from a secret location. There is no word on where the show could be taped, with the only clue being that it would ..

WrestleMania Boneyard Match Receives Critical Acclaim From Wrestling Community

I’d say they’ve earned it. This year’s WrestleMania is not going to be like any other that has ever been seen. The show is taking place in front of no fans and is being split into two nights, meaning that everything is upside down compared to what we are usually seeing. There is still wrestling though, with Night One featuring something that was just as different as the rest of the show. As it turns out, it did rather well indeed.
The first night of WrestleMania 36 was headlined by the Boneyard match between AJ Styles and Undertaker. The rules of the match were not exactly clear on the way to WrestleMania so no one was sure what to expect. As it turns out, the match was more of a mini movie than a match, similar to Matt Hardy’s Final Deletion matches. The match seemed to have been well received though and a lot of wrestlers have something to say about it.
Following the match, several wrestlers commented positively on the match with many of them outright praising what Undertaker and S..

TRAILER: WWE Announces New Undertaker Documentary Series

You don’t get something like this. There are very few wrestlers in history like the Undertaker. He has been around forever and still manages to have one big moment after another. Later this year, he will celebrate thirty years with the company, which is practically unheard of in almost any wrestling company. In that whole time, we have barely seen anything from behind the curtain with him, but now that might be changing.
Late last year, Undertaker was a guest on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions. This marked a very rare look at the person behind the Undertaker character. That is something fans have been interested in seeing for decades now and it finally took place. They did not have time to talk about everything though, and that is why Sunday night brought good news.
During the first night of WrestleMania 36, WWE announced a new limited series about the Undertaker, called The Last Ride. The limited series will feature out of character interviews with Undertaker, as well as major ..

VIDEO: The Outstanding WrestleMania 36 Opening Video

You have to get off on a nice foot. There are a lot of things to criticize about WWE and that has been the case for a very long time now. Their creative direction and match quality may vary by your personal preferences, but there is one thing that they do with very little room for criticism. That would be their video packages, which they did again at a high level over the weekend.
Saturday night saw the first half of WrestleMania 36 and this show was a tricky one. The problem with having no fans in place and having to figure out what is going on tonight is a daunting task and WWE had its work cut out to figure out how to do it. A big part of that is setting the stage in the right way, and as usual, WWE knows exactly what they are doing with this stuff.
This is a great one. Check out how WrestleMania got started:

WWE has released its opening video for WrestleMania 36, which features the same pirate theme that the show had been built around since it was first announced. The video inc..

How The Champions Fared At WrestleMania Night One

We’re halfway there. WrestleMania 36 is going to be one of the most unique shows that wrestling has ever seen. Ignoring the entire crowd situation, it is very rare to see a major American wrestling event stretched out to two nights. That is what we’re getting here though, meaning there are two different sets of results to consider. Now the first half is in the books and we can look at some results.
As usual, WrestleMania is built around title matches. Most of the big matches on the show are going to have a title involved in some form and that is how wrestling almost always tends to go. This year’s show is no exception, with a total of nine title matches taking place over the course of the two nights. With night one already done, there is a big question to be answered: how did the champions do?
Night One of WrestleMania 36 featured five title matches with a total of two title changes. Goldberg lost the Universal Title to Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross won the Women’s T..
