WWE Hall of Famer Triple H was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated in preparation for their major broadcast of NXT this evening on the USA Network. He discussed a number of topics, including the final match between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, the ratings war between NXT and AEW and more.
Below are some highlights from the interview:
On Ciampa vs. Gargano:
“This week is the culmination of the Ciampa-Gargano rivalry,” said Levesque, who is WWE’s Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development. “That will be spectacular, I guarantee it.”
On tonight’s 6-women ladder match:
“These women are going to be dominating the business for a long time to come,” said Levesque. “There is such depth, and we’re creating new talent. That bodes well for women in the sport. The champ is still here. WWE has come a long way in the year since WrestleMania 35 but there has been one constant in that whole time: Becky Lynch is still the Raw Women’s Champion. She is one of the biggest stars in wrestling and has shown very few signs of slowing down. Keeping the title this long is almost unthinkable but Lynch keeps pulling it off. That comes with some perks, one of which was on display Sunday.
On Saturday night at WrestleMania 36 Night One, Lynch retained the Raw Women’s Title in a surprise over Shayna Baszler. The win allowed her to move forward to the one year mark as champion, which is moving her rather close to the modern record for a women’s champion. Lynch has become a celebrity as well, and that was part of what she was doing the day after retaining the title.

See you soon. The wrestling world (along with the rest of it) has been turned upside down at the moment. Everything is going nuts and there is no sign that it is going to be getting any better for a few weeks (at the very, very earliest). This is the kind of thing that wrestling companies are going to have to find a way around and AEW might have found a way to do just that.
The biggest problem with wrestling shows at the moments comes down to not being allowed to run events with more than ten people in a single place at once. That might work back in a territory era live event but it’s a big different with a two hour television show. That’s hard to do every week, but if you cut around the edges quite a bit, it can be done. They’re certainly persistent. The WWE motto always seems to be “The Show Must Go On”. Whether it makes sense to continue or not, WWE has a tendency to never know when to take a breather. They have no off season and there is a television show every Monday and Friday night. That can cause some problems when a break is necessary, but it doesn’t seem to be the case here.

It’s nice to have something different for a change. With everything going nuts at the moment, there is very little in the way of nice news coming from the world of wrestling. Yes there have still been shows and some matches might be better than others, but it seems that everything is in some kind of a negative light. This time around it’s actually something positive for a change.
Relationships in wrestling are hard to pull off. The lives of wrestlers are some of the most complicated things in the world with wrestlers running from one show to the next, often going around the country if not the world in the process. That can make things especially hectic, making it harder and harder to find time for a relationship of any kind. Therefore, relationships in the business can often be the best option. Wrestlemania XXXVI Night Two

We’re back for more of the same and that might not be the worst thing in the world. Last night’s part one wasn’t half bad but they are going to have a hard time surpassing that main event. There are eight more matches, plus the required Kickoff Show match, tonight so hopefully they can have another good one. Let’s get to it.
Kickoff Show: Liv Morgan vs. Natalya Morgan rolls her up for two to start so Natalya does the same for a standoff. Some more rollups get some more near falls until Morgan sends her into the corner. A running hip attack hits Natalya but she’s right back with her basement dropkick for two more. Natalya clotheslines her to the floor, followed by the surfboard back inside. Natalya: “ASK HER!!!!” That’s broken up and Liv’s Codebreaker gets two. The sitout wheelbarrow faceplant gives Natalya the same and they pinfall rev..

They’re trying. We are in the middle of a never before seen event in wrestling history as you never know what is going to happen from one day to the next. With the spread of the Coronavirus changing one thing after another every single day, you never can tell what you are going to see on any given day. The industry is trying to hold on and in this case, WWE is doing something rather unique.
The biggest part of the problem for wrestling television at the moment is finding a place to shoot the shows. The vast majority of the United States is currently under government orders to shelter in place in an effort to help prevent the virus from spreading. As a result, it is very difficult to find a location to film anything. That has never stopped WWE before though and it might not now.

I’d say they’ve earned it. This year’s WrestleMania is not going to be like any other that has ever been seen. The show is taking place in front of no fans and is being split into two nights, meaning that everything is upside down compared to what we are usually seeing. There is still wrestling though, with Night One featuring something that was just as different as the rest of the show. As it turns out, it did rather well indeed.
The first night of WrestleMania 36 was headlined by the Boneyard match between AJ Styles and Undertaker. The rules of the match were not exactly clear on the way to WrestleMania so no one was sure what to expect. As it turns out, the match was more of a mini movie than a match, similar to Matt Hardy’s Final Deletion matches. The match seemed to have been well received though and a lot of wrestlers have something to say about it.

Later this year, he will celebrate thirty years with the company, which is practically unheard of in almost any wrestling company. You have to get off on a nice foot. There are a lot of things to criticize about WWE and that has been the case for a very long time now. Their creative direction and match quality may vary by your personal preferences, but there is one thing that they do with very little room for criticism. That would be their video packages, which they did again at a high level over the weekend.
Saturday night saw the first half of WrestleMania 36 and this show was a tricky one. The problem with having no fans in place and having to figure out what is going on tonight is a daunting task and WWE had its work cut out to figure out how to do it. We’re halfway there. WrestleMania 36 is going to be one of the most unique shows that wrestling has ever seen. Ignoring the entire crowd situation, it is very rare to see a major American wrestling event stretched out to two nights. That is what we’re getting here though, meaning there are two different sets of results to consider. Now the first half is in the books and we can look at some results.
As usual, WrestleMania is built around title matches. Most of the big matches on the show are going to have a title involved in some form and that is how wrestling almost always tends to go.
