KB’s Review: Boneyard Edition

With WrestleMania 36 out of the way, we are now into the new season of the wrestling world. That can make for some interesting changes, but it also means looking back at what was just finished to see what was working and what wasn’t. That includes WrestleMania itself, and that’s what we are going to be looking at today. Not the entire show (Or is it shows?) but rather one thing from the first night. I think you know what that thing is going to be.
As you might have guessed, WrestleMania is built around wrestling. By definition, wrestling is a physical sport and therefore you can only do so much before father time catches up with you. At some point you just can’t do it anymore, but in wrestling there are little ways around those physical limitations. Those ways were on display over the weekend, but that doesn’t mean they were the best methods available. Or then again they might have been, which is what we’re going to get into here.
The match which is receiving the most attention from ..

We’re in the marathon taping session now and this time around we have a big double main event. This week’s show will feature the six woman ladder match to crown a new #1 contender, but the real big match is the final showdown between Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano in a battle years in the making. Let’s get to it.
The opening video is all about Gargano vs. Ciampa.
Tegan Nox vs. Dakota Kai vs. Io Shirai vs. Chelsea Green vs. Mia Yim vs. Candice LeRae Ladder match for the #1 contendership and Robert Stone and Raquel Gonzalez are here too. It’s a brawl to start with Kai being left alone in the ring. Gonzalez throws in a ladder but a bunch of the women take her out and triple team Kai in the corner. Green gets caught on the apron for a series of forearms to knock her down as well. It’s time for the first ladder as Stone tries to set up a table on the floor.

VIDEO: Money In The Bank Match Suggested

It’s the logical way to go. There were a lot of stories at WrestleMania 36 and some of them took some rather big turns. A lot of these changes are the kind of things that can reshape both WWE TV as well as the wrestlers’ futures for a long time to come. That can set up matches for the future, and one of the more interesting stories on Sunday could be doing just that.
One of the biggest stories from WrestleMania was the romance between Mandy Rose and Otis. The two have been teasing getting together for a long time now and finally did so on Sunday, despite the efforts of Dolph Ziggler and Sonya Deville. Otis and Rose had their first kiss at WrestleMania but the story does not seem likely to end there, at least not if Otis gets his way.
Otis appeared on Rose’s Instagram live stream on Wednesday and suggested a match for Money in the Bank. During the stream, Otis brought up the suggestion of himself and Rose teaming up to face Deville and Ziggler in a mixed tag at the pay per view. Rose ..

Why Big Show Challenged Drew McIntyre After WrestleMania Ended

It makes a bit of sense. The end of this year’s WrestleMania saw Drew McIntyre slay the beast and become the new WWE Champion. The win was a changing of the guard as McIntyre’s road to the title took a long time to make it all the way to the main event. Being the champion is a lot different than trying to be the champion, and McIntyre found that out on Monday for a good reason.
At the end of Monday Night Raw, a video aired showing a clip from after WrestleMania. The Big Show came to the ring to challenge McIntyre to an impromptu title match. McIntyre survived the challenge and retained the title in his first defense, though it was a bit of a strange moment. It turns out that WWE had a specific reason in mind for doing things as they did.
According to PW Insider Elite by way of Wrestlinginc.com, the thinking behind having McIntyre face Big Show as soon as WrestleMania went off the air was to make McIntyre look like a giant slayer. WWE made it clear that the matches were taking place l..

How The Legendary NXT Feud Finally Ended

It had to end sometime. There are certain rivalries in wrestling that you just remember. For one reason or another, something about a certain feud just grabs your attention and never lets go. That is something you can count on and when you get a feud like that going, it can be one of the most entertaining things you can see. One of the best of modern times wrapped up on Wednesday.
Over the last few years, no one has been more linked in NXT than Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. With so many matches, moments, twists and turns under their belts, they have put together one of the biggest and best stories in the history of NXT. While it has been delayed due to a variety of injuries, it had to come to an end at some point, and that was this week.
This week on NXT, Gargano defeated Ciampa to officially end their feud. The ending game when Gargano’s wife Candice LeRae pretended to turn on him, only to attack Ciampa instead. The match was designated as the final match between the two of the..

AEW Bringing Back Another Infamous Match

That’s one way to go. Wrestling is in a situation that it has never approached in the modern era. Thanks to the spread of the Coronavirus wiping out live attendance for wrestling shows, promotions are being forced to think outside of the box and see what they can do to come up with some kind of an alternative. That seems to be the case in AEW and they might have a huge idea planned.
While both WWE and AEW are filming marathon taping sessions of shows to cover themselves for the next several weeks, they are also going to different locations to film content. This was on display Saturday at WrestleMania 36 with the Boneyard Match, which had a lot of people flashing back to another on location match. Now, we might be seeing something closer to the original.
During this week’s AEW Dynamite, Matt Hardy challenged Chris Jericho to face him at the Hardy Compound in an Elite Deletion match. This would seem to be something in the same vein as the Final Deletion match from Impact Wrestling. AEW..

WATCH: John Cena’s nWo Entrance Video

He really is 4 life. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show what the entrance video would be if John Cena was in the nWo. This is in response to a portion of the Firefly Funhouse match between him and Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36.
You can see the video in its entirety below:

From WWE.com:
Yet, When Cena swung the chair, Bray vanished, reappearing moments later on the set of WCW Nitro.
Now portraying Eric Bischoff, Wyatt introduced “the coolest guy who ever walked the earth,” and Cena entered the scene in a New World Order black-and-white T-shirt, strumming a spray-painted WCW Title like Hollywood Hogan in the late 1990s.
Editor’s Opinion:
This match was absolutely brilliant. As I mentioned before, this type of match as changed the history of what professional wrestling could be, bending reality and creating fantasy scenarios for the hardcore wrestling fans. Could you imagine John Cena in the nWo in the 1990s? Holy cow, that would have been a game-c..

WATCH: Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch From CombatMania 35

It was a history-making night. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel, in which they show the full match between Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch from WrestleMania 35. It was the first time that women were the main event of the Granddaddy of Them All.
You can see the match in its entirety below:

From WWE.com:
The Man did it. Becky Lynch knocked down every barrier put in her way to become the first woman to win a WrestleMania main event, the first woman to pin Ronda Rousey, and the first woman to hold the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships at the same time in the historic, Winner Take All main event of WrestleMania 35.
Everything Becky Lynch had up to, during and after the main event was earned. She earned her place in the WrestleMania main event by winning the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble Match. She earned the opportunity to stand across the ring from Charlotte Flair when she’d spent so long standing in her shadow. And she earned the right to be mentioned..

Charlotte’s First Challenger Officially Set

The first of (maybe) many. Back at WrestleMania 36, Charlotte became the NXT Women’s Champion for the second time in her career. It was a bit of a surprising title change but Charlotte coming to NXT could do a lot of things for its women’s division. Charlotte is the champion again and, like most champions, that means she needs someone to face. We now have that covered.
With so many wrestling events having been postponed or outright canceled due to the spread of the Coronavirus, something had to be done to fill in a lot of that time. At the same time, a lot of matches and angles had already been set up. Therefore, it was easy to move back to those matches when you were given a chance. Now one of those major matches has taken place.
This week on NXT, Io Shirai won a six woman ladder match to become the new #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Title. The match also included Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Chelsea Green and Mia Yim. This match was originally scheduled for Takeover: Tam..

Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho
We’re still in wherever the heck we are for the second week of what seems to be a marathon taping session. That’s probably the only way to get through the current situation so this is how things are going to be for a good while. The big story tonight is the start of the TNT Title tournament so let’s get to it.
Jake Roberts asks if you would prefer to be staring down a train coming at you or face Lance Archer. Last week, Archer destroyed Marko Stunt, which made Roberts wonder how insane Stunt is. Then there’s Cody, who might be better off losing to Shawn Spears to avoid facing Archer in the second round.
Lance Archer vs. Alan Eagles Archer shoves Eagles down, choke suplexes him across the ring and finishes with the Blackout at 2:09.
Result: Lance Archer b. Alan Eagles – Blackout (2:09)

UPDATE: Rhea Ripley Denies Recent Reports About Her Status

She would know best. Over the weekend, WrestleMania 36 saw several memorable moments take place, many of which changes the directions of wrestlers involved. Many of these involved title changes, which can make for some interesting paths going forward. One of them was a little surprising, but an explanation came out as a result. Now though, that explanation needs an update.
WrestleMania 36 Night Two opened with Charlotte defeating Rhea Ripley to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. The title change was quite the surprise as Ripley had become one of the bigger stars in NXT, including a major win to take the title from Shayna Baszler. Then Charlotte just beat her, which made some fans think something might be up. As it turns out, that may not have been the case.
On Tuesday, reports emerged that Ripley had returned to her native Australia due to her work visa expiring in the United States. However, Ripley responded to the rumors on Wednesday, sending out a video showing that she is still..
