It’s the final show before Revolution and that means this week is live. Normally I would say a pay per view card is set two days before the show but AEW has a tendency to throw in a bunch of stuff at the last minute. This week will also see Dustin Rhodes/Keith Lee vs. Mogul Affiliates so let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Aussie Open vs. Claudio Castagnoli/Wheeler Yuta vs. Top Flight vs. Dark Order The Dark Order jumps Castagnoli/Yuta in the aisle to start but Top Flight dives onto all four of them. Aussie Open drives Top Flight together as JR talks about needing to win to get a pay per view pay day. Ross: “Am I right about that?” And he is completely ignored, as that doesn’t seem to be right.
We get inside for the bell with Top Flight dropkicking Aussie Open with Davis being knocked to the floor. Reynolds comes in and hits a running elbow on ..

Now that is awesome. Wrestlers are a lot of things at once but for many fans, they are nothing short of heroes. You can find fans who absolutely love the wrestlers they cheer for every week and it can be a special moment if one of them ever gets to meet a star. That was the situation this week in one of the cooler things that you will see in wrestling for a good while.

This week on SmackDown, Rhea Ripley defeated Liv Morgan. Following the match, a Morgan fan was seen crying at ringside. The fan, a nine year old girl, was then brought backstage where she was able to meet Morgan. The two hugged, with Morgan telling her that she couldn’t leave a fan crying out there like that after a match. Morgan also said when the girl turned eighteen, they could become the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Can you blame them? There are all kinds of wrestling promotions around the world today and some of them have quite the audience. This is often the result of a television, or at least streaming, presence, with fans being able to see the show around the country or even the world. Appearing on such a show can mean a lot for a wrestler’s career, which is why some issues have arisen.

This week, Ring Of Honor TV returned after a year plus hiatus, with the first episode under Tony Khan’s ownership. The show featured ten matches with another ten having been taped for the second episode. However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, several more wrestlers were brought in for the tapings and not used. Many of these wrestlers canceled independent bookings and while they were paid better for being at the Ring Of Honor show, they were upset about not being used.

Ouch? With less than a month to go before WrestleMania 39, almost anything that happens on a WWE show is going to have some kind of ramifications on the upcoming big nights. Most of the stories have already been started but there is plenty of time for more things to happen on the way there. Another of those things might have happened this week and that could tie into a bigger story.

This week on SmackDown, a video showed Ronda Rousey being attacked earlier in the day by Tegan Nox and Natalya. As a result, Rousey’s arm was in a sling as she accompanied partner Shayna Baszler for her match against Nox later in the night. There is nothing to indicate that this is anything more than a storyline. This comes as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has said there will be many more “twists and turns” before the Women’s Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania. It’s a dangerous sport. There are all kinds of ways a wrestler can get hurt inside the ring but it can be just as dangerous outside. No matter how much training a wrestler might have had or how much experience they have under their belt, there is the chance that something could go wrong. It can be made even worse with a dangerous spot, and now again it has caused a wrestler to be hurt.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Needs A New Spot: AEW Star Dropped From Current Storyline
On the January 13 edition of AEW Rampage, Anna Jay took part in a street fight, teaming with Tay Melo against Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale. During the match, Jay was powerbombed off the stage and through a table, only to miss the table and land on the floor instead. Jay revealed on her Twitter that she has suffered dislocated ribs as a result of the landing. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, she has not wrestled since as a result of the injury and there is no word on when she will wrestle again.

We are less than a month away from Wrestlemania and that means it is time to kick the build into high gear. This time around we are going to be seeing something special as Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes will be going face to face for the first time in a very long while. Other than that, I’m sure Sami Zayn will be up to something. Let’s get to it.
We’ll start with the Bloodline (still minus Jey Uso) to get things going. After Reigns requests and receives his acknowledgment, here is Cody Rhodes to interrupt. Cody makes it clear that he isn’t here to fight because they can do that at Wrestlemania, one on one. Therefore, unless Reigns needs the rest of his team, they aren’t needed. Reigns sends the team away and asks if that makes Cody more comfortable. Reigns puts both titles down in front of Cody, who says Reigns has been champion for 915 days.

No more? There are certain wrestlers in WWE history who have become legends in their own time. Those are the people who will often only make occasional appearances and then go away for an extended period of time. It can mean a lot when one of them comes back, but in the case of one such legend, we might not be seeing him do his most well known thing again.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They Have A Plan: Update On 2023 WWE Hall Of Fame Inductions
Goldberg has not wrestled for WWE since Elimination Chamber in February 2022. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he does not have any more matches on his WWE contract, but he is still under contract to the company. Therefore, despite there being no plans for him to wrestle at the moment, he is still with WWE and unable to sign or appear anywhere else. There is no word on when his current deal expires.

They might want to hurry up. We are just over four weeks away from WrestleMania 39 and that means things need to come together fast. While the main focus will be on the two night showcase in SoFi Stadium, there are several other events taking place throughout the week. This includes the Hall of Fame induction ceremony the Friday night before WrestleMania, but this year seems a bit different.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Out There: Former World Champion Officially A Free Agent, Possibly Heading To WWE
As of Friday, March 3, WWE has not made any official announcement about this year’s Hall of Fame class. According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE is still planning on an induction ceremony, which is included in the ticket to the weekend’s SmackDown. So far, there have been no names announced for the class. The induction ceremony is scheduled for March 31 at the Crypto.com Center in Los Angeles.

He’s available. There are some incredibly talented wrestlers throughout the world who do not get to appear on the big stage that often. While they might appear on some very big shows, they do not make regular appearances in either WWE or AEW. Those are the stages where wrestlers will have the biggest audiences, and now a top international star is able to go anywhere he chooses.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Possible Sign That Naomi Is Done With WWE
Earlier this year, former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White lost a Loser Leaves Japan match, signaling that he was done with New Japan Pro Wrestling. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, White is now officially a free agent, as his deal with New Japan expired on February 28. While it is not confirmed, it is expected that he will be signing with WWE. White has previously made appearances in AEW.

That’s a telling sign. Last May, Naomi and Sasha Banks both walked out on WWE, while still the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Banks, now known as Mercedes Mone, has since resurfaced in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Naomi however has not been seen in a wrestling capacity since the walk out. Now a new development is suggesting that she is no longer part of WWE whatsoever.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They’re Out? WWE Expected To Split Up NXT Tag Team
WrestleCon, the wrestling fan convention held over WrestleMania weekend, has announced that Naomi, under her real name of Trinity Fatu, will be a guest at the convention. WWE contracted wrestlers are rarely allowed to do outside appearances such as this, which would suggest that Naomi is no longer under contract to WWE, or will not be when the convention takes place. This is to be considered speculation as there is NO report that she has officially left WWE.

Ring Of Honor

So after a year or so of Ring Of Honor being a major part of AEW, it is time for the company to get its own show. That might mean quite a few things, but there is a good chance that we are going to be seeing a bunch of AEW stars around here. This show could go in a few different ways though so let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Mark Briscoe vs. Slim J The rest of the Trustbusters are here with Slim J, who kicks away the Code Of Honor before the bell. Redneck Kung Fu sends J outside but a Mark Sterling distraction lets J get in a low blow. Briscoe is fine enough to kick J to the floor, setting up the dropkick through the ropes. It’s too early for the chair assisted dive so Briscoe strikes away back inside.
Another Sterling distraction lets J hit a knee to the face, setting up a reverse DDT for two. Briscoe is busted open as J chokes away in the corner, followe..
