WATCH: Possible Seeds Planted For Monday Night Raw Debut

That’s how you start. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and some of them are part of the company’s official developmental system in NXT. That can make for some unique situations, as there are some wrestlers who do not seem to need developing and could hang on the main roster the day they sign. One wrestler who arguably fits that description might have planted the seeds for his main roster debut.
WWE has posted a video from backstage at this week’s Monday Night Raw showing Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode running into NXT’s LA Knight. Roode and Ziggler mock Knight for not being on the right show, with Knight responding that the two of them can come see him any Tuesday night. The three also talked about the importance of the Royal Rumble, though there is nothing to suggest that Knight will be involved in the match at this point.
Knight has been part of NXT just shy of a year ago and is a former Million Dollar Champion. Prior to the start of this stint in NXT, Knight wrestled..

Get Well Soon: Bad Injury Update On NXT Star

It can happen to anyone. As bad as it sounds, the reality is that injuries are one of the few universal problems for any wrestler. You never know when you might see someone get hurt and that is never a good thing to see. Unfortunately you can see someone get hurt at any time and they can be on the shelf for a good while. That is the case again, and now it is not sounding like the best news.
This week on NXT, Vic Joseph announced that Odyssey Jones had suffered a ruptured patella tendon. Jones has already undergone surgery to repair the injury, which will put him out until the fall. The injury took place during a match on a recent 205 Live taping, which never aired. Jones’ most recent televised match took place the December 28, 2021 edition of NXT.
Opinion: This is one of those things that happens on occasion, but it doesn’t make the situation any better. Above all else, what matters most is Jones getting back to full healthy. He was showing a lot of potential before he was put on the..

Update On WWE’s WrestleMania Weekend Plans, Possible New Scheduling

Get your calendars ready. We are less htna three months away from WrestleMania 38 and the preparations for the show have already begun. There are a lot of moves that still need to be made to make it the biggest wrestling weekend of the year, but some of those changes have nothing to do with WrestleMania itself. WWE offers quite a few other things over the weekend and now we know some more about two of the bigger ones.
Earlier this week, it was announced that WWE would be presenting both NXT Stand & Deliver and the annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony over WrestleMania weekend. According to PWInsider.com, there have been discussions to hold NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday April 2 as a matinee show before the first night of WrestleMania 38. There is no word on where the event will be held.
In addition, also according to PWInsider.com, the potential plan for the Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be aired after the April 1 SmackDown on Peacock and the WWE Network, though there is no..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Celebrity Plans At Royal Rumble And WrestleMania 38

It’s not permanent. Celebrities have a long history in the WWE, as a good portiton of the original WrestleMania was built on the celebrity involvement. The tradition continued for years to come and is still a big deal today. Sometimes you see celebrities get in the ring, which can make for some interesting moments. That seems to be the case again, but it will not be something you should get used to seeing.
As previously announced, actor Johnny Knoxville will be competing in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, Knoxville’s appearance will be a one off and he is not expected to be back for any more appearances, including WrestleMania. At the same time though, WWE is planning on having another celebrity appearance for WrestleMania, though the person is not yet known.
Source states Johnny Knoxville’s Royal Rumble involvement is slated to be Rumble only & done on Saturday. However, WWE is indeed working on another celebrity appearance for Wr..

NXT Results – January 25, 2022

NXT
Date: January 25, 2022
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett
It’s the go home show for the Royal Rumble and I don’t think that is going to mean much for most of the people around here. NXT is in a different world than almost anything that happens on the main roster and in a way that’s a good thing, as they can do some positive stuff on their own. Let’s get to it.
MSK is next to the Dusty Cup and ready to win it again. Now they know what it takes to get back to the top of the mountain thanks to Riddle, but DON’T TOUCH THE CUP!
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round: Jacket Time vs. MSK Carter and Kushida start things off with neither being able to get anywhere. It’s off to Lee, who immediately gets punched down by Jiro. Jacket Time takes him into the corner to start up the beating and it’s a double bulldog to give Kushida two. Jiro gets taken down in the corner though and it’s Carter hitting a Bronco Buster, which the fans ..

Backstage WWE Speculation About Major Royal Rumble Return

Welcome back. The Royal Rumble is a lot of things, and one of the most important is a way to bring back former wrestlers. With sixty spots to fill over two matches, there are a lot of places to bring back wrestlers who have not been around for a long time. It can be even better if it is someone who has had some success in WWE before, and that might be the case with a surprise return.
According to Fightful Select, there is a belief among some wrestlers backstage that Asuka will be making her return to action at the Royal Rumble. However, this has not been confirmed and is still seen as speculation. Asuka has not wrestled since Money in the Bank in July due to an injury and it is not known if she has been medically cleared to return to the ring yet.
Opinion: That would be a pretty awesome moment as Asuka is one of the better wrestlers in all of WWE. She is a former Royal Rumble winner and would instantly be one of the top possible winners this year. If nothing else, it would be great t..

WWE Considering Bringing Back Series Of Live Events

It could help things a lot. NXT is in a weird place as it is the official WWE developmental territory, but also airing on national television every single week. That makes things all the more complicated as the wrestlers are not exactly able to get a chance to hone their skills. What they need is more ring time and a chance to learn in front of some smaller crowds. WWE used to have that kind of an option and now they migth be bringing it back.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is considering bringing back NXT live events. WWE stopped running such events in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. There is no word on if this will be back on a nationwide scale or just in Florida. Should it be Florida, WWE would only be running events in small venues, with around 200 seats at any given venue.
Opinion: This is exactly what a place like NXT needs. Getting their rookies out there with about five minutes a week isn’t going to help them, but putting them in the ring for ten minut..

Another WWE Name Requests Release After Long Run With Company

He isn’t a fan either. The WWE roster has changed so much in recent years that it is hard to keep track of where everyone is going. That is not exactly a great thing to see, as several wrestlers are going all over the place, with most of them making their way out of the company. Some wrestlers have even done this by choice, and that seems to be the case again with another veteran.
According to PWInsider.com, Brian Kendrick has requested his release from WWE. Kendrick has been working as a coach and occasional wrestler, though he has not wrestled a match since October. He had been scheduled for a match against Harland in NXT but the match never took place. Kendrick has reportedly requested his release from the company for the last six weeks.
Kendrick has wrestled on and off for WWE for several years in multiple stints. He is a former Tag Team and Cruiserweight Champion who has most recently wrestled on 205 Live. His most recent run in WWE began when he took part in the Cruiserweight C..

WWE Star May Be Returning From Injury Sooner Than Expected

Welcome back. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and it is never good to see someone be put on the shelf. The fun part is seeing the wrestlers making their return though, and sometimes that can happen sooner rather than later. Thankfully that seems like it will be the case later this week, and it is something that is happening a bit earlier than expected.
According to PWInsider, King Woods is expected to return to the road with WWE starting this week on SmackDown. Woods has been out of action for several weeks with a calf injury, which was scheduled to keep him out of action for four to six weeks. At the moment, it is not expected that Woods will return to the ring immediately and it is not clear when he will have his next match.
Opinion: It’s great to hear that Woods is back on his feet sooner than later. If nothing else, it will be nice to have him there to do some more of the talking, as he tends to shine with everything that he does on the microphone. I doubt he makes i..

Game Changer Wrestling The Wrld On GCW Results

The Wrld On GCW
Date: January 23, 2022
Location: Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City, New York
Commentators: Dave Prazak, Kendall Gill
Hosts: Lenny Leonard, Pollo del Mar
Every now and then a show catches my attention and I’ll add it to the schedule. That is the case here, as GCW has become the hottest indy around at the moment and I’m going to give it a shot. I am absolutely not a fan of the deathmatch stuff, but apparently that kind of wrestling is not allowed in New York so we get a bit of a reprieve here. Let’s get to it.
Note that I barely follow GCW so I am not going to know much in the way of storylines or characters so please bear with me if I miss something.

REVIEW: Royal Rumble 2016: One vs. All

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Royal Rumble 2016
Date: January 24, 2016
Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida
Attendance: 15,170
Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Byron Saxton
Now this one actually has my interest for a change. A year ago, WWE decided that the right idea was to have WWE World Champion Roman Reigns fight everyone in a single match for the title. This is completely different as now he fights everyone for the US Title. Anyway, the whole thing is about the main event, as it should be, so let’s get to it.
Pre-S..

WATCH: This Year’s WWE Rumble By The Numbers Video

It’s that time of year. The Royal Rumble is coming up at the end of the week and that means it is time to get on the Road to WrestleMania. There are still several steps left to cover though and the Royal Rumble is one of the biggest. The show has been around for thirty four years now and we will be seeing another edition soon. However, there is still time to take a look back at Rumbles past.
WWE has released its annual Rumble By The Numbers video. The video looks at a history of the Royal Rumble with a series of statistics, including the total number of entrants in the matches’ history, as well as a look at the winners’ success rates at WrestleMania. As was the case last year, WWE released the video on its YouTube channel rather than on one of their television shows.
This is always special. Check out this year’s edition:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I look forward to this every year as there is something very cool about seeing this kind of a statistical break..
