There’s your answer. WrestleMania is on the horizon and that means it is time for WWE to find something to make the show feel as important as possible. That is often easier said than done but now the company seems to be putting together some of their bigger ideas. They still need a few more major concepts though and that is what they seem to have set up this week.
This week’s edition of WWE Monday Night Raw opened with Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens failing to win the Raw Tag Team Titles. As a result, the two did not have a path to WrestleMania, but Owens said he had an idea. At the end of the show, Owens said that he wanted to put on the biggest Kevin Owens Show of all time at WrestleMania. Owens issued a challenge to Steve Austin to be his guest. This comes after rumors of Austin wrestling another match at the event, with Owens insulting Austin’s home state of Texas for several weeks. There is no word on if Austin will appear before WrestleMania.

You never want to see what. There are all kinds of matches in wrestling and some of them can be incredibly dangerous. While a wrestler can be hurt in any kind of match, there are certain matches that crank up the risk even higher. That can lead to a variety of injuries and now it seems that one such match might have led to an injury that could put a star on the shelf.
Last weekend’s AEW Revolution pay per view included the Face of the Revolution ladder match, which included six competitors. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Orange Cassidy suffered a shoulder injury when he was tossed over the ring and landed on a pile of wrestlers. There is no word on the severity of his injury or how long he might be out of action as a result, though he was described as the only “serious” injury of the night.
Opinion: That is never good to hear and hopefully Cassidy’s injury is nothing serious and he will be back in action sooner rather than later. A match like that is going to have all kinds o..

There’s room for more. We are less than a month away from WrestleMania 38 and the question is starting to become how to get as many people onto the show as possible. There are only so many places to put all of these people and that can make for some issues. WWE has a few ways to add people to the lineup and that is what they have done again as a title match has grown.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley defeated WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Queen Zelina and Carmella in a non-title match. As a result, Morgan and Ripley have been added to the Women’s Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania 38, where Vega and Carmella are scheduled to defend against Sasha Banks and Naomi. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday April 3.
Opinion: I’m not wild on this kind of addition as it feels like a way to cram in everyone that can be placed into a match. What makes it worse is that these aren’t regular teams. They’re just women being thrown together and being given a title..

History has been made! We are on the way to WrestleMania 38 and you can see most of the matches coming from here. There are going to be several title matches on the card but WWE still needs to officially set some of those matches. That might mean some titles changing hands, which was the case this week as some former champions got their hands on the gold again.
This week on Monday Night Raw, RKBro (Randy Orton/Riddle) defeated Raw Tag Team Champions Alpha Academy and SethR ollins/Kevin Owens in a triple threat match to win the titles. The win marks RKBro’s second reign as champions after they lost the championships to Alpha Academy in January. Commentary suggested that the win would send RKBro to WrestleMania 38 as champions.
Opinion: This is a bit of a surprise and makes me wonder how necessary the initial title change was. At least there is something for RKBro to do at WrestleMania, as I was starting to think they might split the team up. Owens and Rollins can go on to do whatever ..

We are less than a month away from Wrestlemania and that means we are probably going to start some of the harder pushes to the show this week. In theory we should be getting some more matches set for the show, as probably about half of it has been set. There is also a Tag Team Title match this week so let’s get to it.

She would know best. There are all kinds of reasons for a wrestler to be kept out of the ring and some of them can be quite serious. Sometimes you are going to see a wrestler get hurt and kept on the shelf for a very long time, which can make for a very long wait as they get back to full health. That is the case for a popular WWE star, but it seems that she might be out longer than expected.
In recent weeks, reports have begun to pop up saying that WWE’s Asuka is ready to return to the ring after a several month layoff. However, Asuka has replied to some of the reports on Twitter, saying that she is not yet medically cleared. Asuka has not wrestled since Money in the Bank 2021 and there is no word on when she will be back in the ring or what she will be doing.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen occasionally and that is not the biggest surprise. Asuka has been out of action for the better part of a year now and it is going to lead to speculation that she is cle..

Welcome to the club. There are a lot of wrestlers in the world today and only a handful of them are able to make it to some of the bigger promotions. It is not something that can be fixed, as there simply is not enough room for everyone in those companies. That means someone leaving a higher profile promotion is a big deal and that seems to have happened again, albeit without much fanfare.
Jake Something has announced that he has finished up with Impact Wrestling after his match at last weekend’s Sacrifice event. Something is leaving Impact on good terms and there is a chance that the two could work together again in the future. During his time in Impact, Something worked as a singles and tag wrestler, teaming with his cousin Deaner as the Deaners.
Opinion: That is the kind of thing that just happens occasionally but now Something can go somewhere else. Something was not a major player in Impact but he was starting to move up the ladder a bit when he left. I could go for seeing where..

I think he has earned it. Wrestling is a unique sport compared to its mainstream counterparts, as the accomplishments that wrestlers win are predetermined. In addition, the wrestlers are not permanent champions as they will lose any titles they win to someone else. There is very little that is seen as a true lifetime achievement but one legend has earned one of his own.
As revealed on Twitter, Terry Funk has officially received the Stanley Weston Lifetime Achievement Award from Pro Wrestling Illustrated. Funk was presented with the award by his friend Manny Fernandez. Funk began wrestling in 1965 and wrestled his last match in 2017. He has been living in an assisted living facility in recent months due to having troubles with his memory.

He has earned it. There are very few honors in wrestling that last forever. While titles and championships are the most well known prizes, at some point, a wrestler is going to lose their belt and it will go on to someone else. That does not leave many options for recognition that continues forever, but now one legend is receiving such an honor that is long overdue.
WWE has announced that Vader will be posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2022. Vader wrestled for WWE from 1996-1998 and is a former three time WCW World Champion while also winning World Titles internationally. There is no word on who will be inducting Vader into the Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony takes place on April 1 after SmackDown, with the Undertaker being the only other inductee.
Opinion: I’m not sure how Vader was never inducted before this as he is someone who could have given an interesting speech. Vader was one of the best monsters that you will ever see and it is great that he is fi..

We aren’t done yet. There is a lot of wrestling content out there today but some of it is treated as a bigger deal than others. Some of the shows that you see are good enough that a company asks you to pay for it, which can often mean the quality goes up. That means some better matches, one of which was such an important deal that the winner had something to say after the show was over.
The main event of AEW’s Revolution pay per view saw Hangman Page defeat Adam Cole to retain the AEW World Title. According to PWInsider.com, Page addressed the crowd after the match, saying that he was sorry for going to a dark place to defeat Cole. Page also said that AEW could line up any opponent that they wanted and he would take their head off, saying he would do anything to retain the title. There is no word on who will be Page’s next challenger.
Opinion: That is the kind of still in character response that makes sense for Page, who is still not that far into his reign as World Champion. Page co..

They had a plan for that. Last week, AEW President Tony Khan announced that he had purchased Ring of Honor Wrestling, marking a new era for the company. At the moment there is no word on what Khan will be doing with Ring of Honor, but one of the rumors has been that it will become AEW’s developmental territory. That is one use for it, but WWE had another idea in mind.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE considered purchasing Ring of Honor in 2018. Had WWE purchased the company, they would have shut it down rather than using it for anything else so as to avoid competition with NXT. WWE would have used the Ring of Honor tape library on the WWE Network and for various documentaries, but the promotion itself would have been gone.
Opinion: This is one of those things that might make sense for WWE but it doesn’t exactly do well for the fans. I can go for the idea of having more wrestling around and Ring of Honor is something with some value. The tape library would be valuab..

It took long enough. There are all kinds of ways to present a story in wrestling and one of the most interesting is when you pair a few people together. That opens up all kinds of opportunities for stories to tell, some of which can take their time. One of the more common ways to go is to have the two split up and that might be what we saw this weekend on a big stage.
One of the featured matches at this weekend’s AEW Revolution pay per view saw CM Punk vs. Maxwell Jacob Friedman in a dog collar match. Late in the match, Friedman called for his bodyguard Wardlow to bring him the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Wardlow came to ringside but did not have the ring, saying he couldn’t find it. After Punk took Friedman out, Wardlow produced the ring, saying that it was in the other pocket, which allowed Punk to knock Friedman out with it for the win. Commentary said that it meant Wardlow and Friedman had split, ending their on-screen relationship after more than two years.
