wMonday Night Raw

It’s the go home show for Survivor Series and that means we should be in for some build to the show. Granted that has been the case for a few weeks now and the focus has been on whatever comes after the show instead. Maybe we can talk about the show a bit more this week, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Let’s get to it.
We open with a recap of Kevin Owens trying to make people believe he had changed last week. Then he lost to Seth Rollins and beat up Big E. anyway.
Here is Big E. for a chat. He thanks the fans for their attention before moving on to Roman Reigns. The Usos attacked his friends and now it is time to beat Reigns like he stole something. There better be some empty beds in those Brooklyn hospitals for them because he is taking a piece of Reigns that can never come back. That’s for Sunday but this is Monday Night Raw, so he ..

Two for the road. We are less than a week away from Survivor Series, which will be one of the most unique shows of the year. As has been the case for the last few years, the show will be built around the idea of Monday Night Raw vs. SmackDown in a battle for brand supremacy. That means the two shows will be going head to head, and now we know a bit more about how that will be going down.
WWE has announced two more matches for the Survivor Series card. First, the Raw Tag Team Champions RKBro will face the SmackDown Tag Team Champions the Usos in a non-title match. Second, United States Champion Damian Priest will face Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in another non-title match. Survivor Series has seen matches between the brands’ tag team and secondary champions for several years in a row.

They’re on a roll. AEW has become one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world in a pretty short amount of time. They have done a lot of things right so far and their pay per views have been among their most successful endeavors. AEW was back on pay per view this weekend with Full Gear and there was a lot taking place on the show. Fans seemed to like it, but what about the wrestlers themselves?
According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast, backstage morale is very high in AEW following Full Gear. The feeling is that the investments that the company has made in younger and future stars is already paying dividends. Full Gear featured a main event of Hangman Page defeating Kenny Omega to win the AEW World Title, plus Maxwell Jacob Friedman defeating Darby Allin in a match advertised as a battle of the young pillars of the company.

Since this is basically NXT Main Event, I’m running out of ways to say nice things about it. The show is much better than what we had for so long before, but you can only have so many positive things to say about a show that usually features a lower card match, a squash and two midcarders. It’s still fun and short though so let’s get to it.
Andre Chase vs. Malik Blade The fans are behind Malik and seem happy when he takes Chase down in a hurry. Back up and Andre elbows him in the face as you can see the Chase University Student Section (complete with a flag). The chinlock keeps Blade down and some elbows to the head make it worse.
Now the fans are behind Malik but Chase wants a C-H-A-S-E, with a stomp between each letter. A neckbreaker gives Chase two and he kicks Blade in the face for daring to try a small package. The chinlock goes on again but Blade fig..

We continue on the way towards Hard To Kill, though it is going to take some time to actually get there. There are a few things going on at the moment as well, which includes the build towards Turning Point. That could mean a few different ways to go on this show so let’s get to it.

Bullet Club vs. FinJuice The winners get the Tag Team Title shot at Turning Point and Hikuleo is here with the Club. Bey headlocks Finlay to start and gets a grand total of nowhere. Instead Finlay takes him down and drops a knee to the chest. Robinson comes in for a slam and a backsplash crushes Bey again. Bey slips out of a delayed vertical suplex though and a distraction lets Robinson get dropped throat first across the barricade.

It’s the Championship Edition of the show and that means we are in for a special main event. Bandido is going to be defending the World Title against Alex Zayne, in a title shot Zayne won back at Death Before Dishonor. Other than that, we continue down the path towards what seems to be the end of the company, though they might not have known that when the show was taped. Let’s get to it.

Pure Wrestling Title: LSG vs. Josh Woods LSG is challenging and we hear him explain just how important all of this is for him. We get the Big Match Intros and even the referee gets a name graphic. Good for them! Wrestlers lead a rather unique life and it can make it difficult to figure out how to make things work outside of the ring. There are only so many ways to have a normal life, which includes romantic relationships. One of the better ways to make it work is to find someone who is in the business as well, which now seems to be the case with four people.
Two new wrestling couples seem to have come together in WWE. First, former NXT United Kingdom Champion Walter and NXT wrestler Jinny appear to be dating, as per photos posted to Jinny’s Instagram stories. In addition, NXT backstage interviewer Samantha Irvin has posted a tweet showing her and Ricochet together, seemingly confirming that they are together as well. Ricochet had previously been in a relationship with NXT star Kacy Catanzaro.

I guess that’s really it. With so many things changing in the wrestling world as of late, it is easy to have trouble keeping track of all of them. Wrestlers are moving from one promotion to another all over the place and there is nothing to suggest that it will be slowing down anytime soon. That was the case again this weekend and now we know a bit more about everything.
The big surprise during AEW’s Full Gear event saw former Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Lethal make his debut for the company. Lethal’s arrival comes after Ring of Honor announced that they would be going on hiatus to begin the new year. According to PWInsider.com, Lethal received his Ring of Honor release several days ago and will not appear at Final Battle on December 11. During the post-Full Gear media scrum, Lethal revealed that his deal with AEW only came together a few days ago. Lethal only met with AEW face to face on Saturday.

That’s always a possibility. Injuries can happen at anytime to any wrestler and that is never a good thing to see. Sometimes these things happen over time, but on occasion they are the sort of injury that happens all at once. Either way, they can lead to a wrestler being out of action for some time, which seems to be the case again after a pair of physical matches over the weekend.
According to PWInsider.com, both Malakai Black and Eddie Kingston were injured during this weekend’s AEW Full Gear pay per view. The two of them were pulled from The Big Event convention in New York City. There is no word on what kind of injuries they have suffered or how long either of them will be out of action. During the show, Black teamed with Andrade El Idolo against Cody Rhodes and Pac in a lowing effort, which CM Punk defeated Kingston.

The champ is here. There are a lot of things that can change the wrestling landscape and a new World Champion is one of the most important. It can represent a new era for a wrestling promotion, especially if it has been a long time coming. That was the case this weekend, and we did not have to wait long to hear from the new champion, who was still rather emotional.
The main event of this weekend’s AEW Full Gear pay per view saw Hangman Page defeat Kenny Omega to become the new World Champion. Following his win, the Dark Order came to the ring to celebrate with him to end the show. After the pay per view went off the air, Page addressed the crowd. She needs a minute. There are so many wrestlers in the world today and thanks to modern technology, it has never been easier to keep track of someone. That can even be the case when they are not wrestling, which has opened up a new world of access. Unfortunately not everything that you see or hear from a wrestler is positive, and that seems to be the case again with a certain star.
NXT’s Sarray has sent out a tweet saying that she is back in Japan but will be back soon. This comes after Sarray lost a match to Kay Lee Ray on this week’s NXT, after which she said that she was lost and nothing she did went as planned. There is no word on why Sarray has gone back to Japan or when she will be back. Sarray has been in WWE since April, wrestling on NXT and 205 Live.

That’s a good place to be. To say NXT has been shaken up in a huge way would be the understatement of the day. NXT is nowhere near what it used to be just a few months ago, but that opens up a lot of options for wrestlers. Above all else, there are several spots available for wrestlers to get a chance to break through and show what they can do. WWE even already has its eye on a few people.
Jon Alba is reporting that there are several people in NXT who are high on the team of Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. The two worked a dark match during this week’s edition of SmackDown and were said to come off looking like stars. Hayes has had his supporters since his match with Adam Cole earlier this year and there is a possibility of him being called up to the main roster in the spring. Hayes is currently the NXT North American Champion.
