Update On Tonight’s SmackDown Live; The Shield In The UK; AJ Styles On Dream Mania Match
Tonight’s SmackDown Live
In case you missed our SmackDown Live preview, WWE has announced several things for tonight’s show. Jinder Mahal is supposed to have a big announcement about November’s Survivor Series; if I was a betting woman, I’d say that WWE is going to go ahead and pull the trigger on the rumored RAW vs SmackDown Live theme for the show. Who knows? Brock Lesnar’s name may even be tossed around.
Sami Zayn is scheduled to open the show, and WWE is promising that The Fashion Police will return this week with the premiere of Pulp Fashion. Of course, they said that last week, too, so we may get Breezango, we may not.
The Shield Sticking Around
It looks like the newly resurrected Shield will be sticking around for a bit after WWE TLC this weekend. The trio is being advertised for a show on the November UK tour. They will face Braun Strowman, Cesaro, and Sheamus to kick off the RAW leg of the tour in Glasgow, Scotland, on November 1st.
AJ Styles On His Dream Match At WrestleMania
In a recent interview, AJ Styles revealed that his dream opponent for WrestleMania 34 is the same as ours: Shinsuke Nakamura.
“Will it happen? I’m not sure. I think there’s a lot of matches that people want to see and Shinsuke [vs.] AJ Styles is definitely one of them, also with Bobby Roode. There’s very few people on the SmackDown roster I’ve yet to have a one-on-one match with, and I think that would be very special to have any one of those guys at WrestleMania.”
He also said that the WWE Champion doesn’t have to be a “top guy”.
“I think that a championship definitely says something about you, it definitely says you’re the guy that puts butts in the seats. The WWE Champion does that for SmackDown, he’s our guy that puts butts in the seats, that’s why people come to see it. Do you necessarily have to be a top guy to have the championship? You don’t have to be. Once you’ve got the respect of the fans for everything you’ve done, you can be that top guy. But I personally enjoy being a champion.”
While I doubt that AJ meant that as a jab towards current WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, the current WWE Title situation does mirror what AJ is saying.
