Dinner with the King Recap – John Cena Passes the Torch, The Rock’s Arrival in Memphis, Climbing His Way to the Top of WWE, More!
Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Glenn Moore. On today’s show they will be discussing The Rock.
Lawler informs that the match he had with Terry Funk last weekend was fun and he was able to dish out his fair share of Piledrivers. However, he says that the only Piledriver that went well was the one he delivered to Ricky Morton. He informs that Terry Funk and the multiple referees who took that move didn’t take it correctly, and therefore they didn’t work so well.
Moore points out that John Cena appeared to get emotional following his loss to Roman Reigns at No Mercy. Lawler agrees and says that Cena’s reaction in the ring was similar to what we saw from The Undertaker at WrestleMania this year. When he and Renee Young interviewed Cena on RAW Talk, Lawler felt that Cena was being ‘real’, and he genuinely teared up a couple of times during that interview.
Lawler says that fans tend to hate on talents who WWE picks to push as the top guy. Some might say that Reigns isn’t ready, but when Cena was initially hand-picked to be the next top guy a decade ago he wasn’t really ready for that spot either. A push is all about the company putting their faith in someone, and seeing how they develop.
