FloSports Files Lawsuit Against WWN; Suit Cites Misrepresentation Of Buy Rates
It appears that the relationship between FloSports and WWN has hit a rocky patch…a big, nasty, point of no return rocky patch. In fact, it’s being reported that FloSports filed a lawsuit against WWN on September 19th in Travis County Court in Texas, citing misrepresentation of iPPV and VOD buy rates. WWN is in the process of preparing a counter-suit.
Apparently, FloSports is stating that WWN misrepresented financial data from the events it was putting on. As a result of the misrepresentation of data, FloSlam claims they were induced into paying WWN hundreds of thousands of dollars. FloSports is seeking damages of $1 million from WWN, with the causes of action listed as breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation.
WWN, the parent company of EVOLVE, Style Battle, FIP, & SHINE, entered into an agreement with FloSports last year to launch a wrestling streaming service for independent professional wrestling promotions across the globe: FloSlam. At first, it sounded great, and subscribers were promised vast libraries of archival footage, as well as live, streaming shows from EVOLVE and other promotions.
Unfortunately, though, things didn’t run as smooth as we were all told they would. There were issues with their live streaming, very few shows ever got uploaded to the archives, and the service was more expensive than any other on the market. A few months ago, they even hiked the monthly price by $10 without notice to any of their subscribers. Then, just as quietly, they returned their monthly subscription price to it’s original price point.
Last October, both parties announced a 5-year deal, but apparently, there’s just over a year left on their current agreement, and a breakdown in the relationship between the two sides is what led to the lawsuit (of which there are no concrete details as of yet). FloSports pays WWN to produce a number of shows for them, and that material is the majority of what constitutes the material available on FloSlam.
We will keep everyone updated as more information becomes known.
