WWE SmackDown Ratings, Viewership (8/29/17): Numbers Down This Week

The WWE SmackDown ratings data and viewership information is in for this week’s show, and the blue brand saw a drop in their audience this week. Last night’s show, which featured the furtherance of the angle between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon, AJ Styles bring back the US Title Open Challenge, and a main event where the team of Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton teamed up to take on WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and Rusev, drew 2.455 million viewers. This is down 8.6% from last week’s 2.685 million viewers for the post-SummerSlam episode.

SmackDown Live was #9 in viewership on cable for the night, falling behind The Have & Have Nots, Rachel Maddow, Tucker Carlson, Special Report, The Story, Hannity, Last Word, and The Five. SmackDown Live was #1 in the 18-49 demographic on cable this week. In the coveted 18-49 demographic, SmackDown Live garnered a .76 cable rating for the show. This is down from last week’s .87 rating in the same demographic.

RAW did a better job of keeping it’s audience this week, managing to hold on to most of the post-SummerSlam crowd. SmackDown is normally the more entertaining of the two weekly WWE shows on cable, but in the eyes of a lot, it has been slipping in quality lately. It will be interesting to see how they manage to keep the SmackDown ratings up or at least steady in the build to Hell In A Cell on October 8th.
