Conversation with the Big Guy Recap – Rusev’s New Look, Punk & Lesnar in UFC, Cena’s Brutal Bump, More!
Ryback is joined on today’s show by his co-host Pat Buck.
Buck opens today’s show by mentioning that he put off a wrestling show recently that went extremely long, primarily due to the fact that all of the main event tag teams didn’t understand how to work a Gauntlet Match. He says a Gauntlet Match needs to be one consistent story, not five or six individual matches. These talents worked as if each tag team pairing had to have their own match and the show went very long.
Ryback says he worked with Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble on the road a lot when they were working as J&J Security, because they were also the road agents for those tours. They often told him that the perfect time length for a live event was 2:45, because people feel like they get their money’s worth without checking out before the show ends.
Buck mentions that when he goes to his wrestling school on Tuesday he’s going to teach the class how to work a Gauntlet Match, because at some point in their careers these talents are going to need to work one of these matches. He hopes his training can prevent other promoters from suffering the same fate as he did recently.
