WWE Cruiserweight Superstar Released From Company
The WWE has reportedly released HoHo Lun from the company’s developmental contract. Lun first appeared on WWE programming when he was among the 32-competitors for last summer’s WWE Cruiserweight Classic. Lun represented Hong Kong and made it to the Round of 16. He failed to advance in the cruiserweight tournament, losing to Noam Dar.
Lun’s journey in the WWE continued as he secured a developmental deal, toured across NXT live events in Florida, appeared on NXT broadcasts, and an appearance on 205 Live. Although he made a brief introductory appearance on 205 Live, he never had a match on the show despite being promoted and listed on the show’s roster.
In 2016, he also competed in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, teaming with fellow WWE Chinese superstar Tian Bing. Lun and Bing were eliminated from the NXT tournament after losing to Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa. Lun’s last match on WWE programming was on NXT against The Velveteen Dream in June. He lost the match.
According to another report, WWE sources have indicated Lun’s release took place several weeks ago. As of early Thursday evening, the WWE did not formally announce his release on their website and is still listed on the active “Current Superstars” and “205 Live” rosters.
