Dinner with the King Recap – Plane Ride From Hell, Lesnar vs. Mr. Perfect, Hayes Gets A Haircut, More!

Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Glenn Moore.

Moore asks Lawler about the time he sued Vince McMahon over the ‘King’ moniker. At that time, McMahon labeled Harley Race ‘The King’ and Lawler sued him because that was his established nickname. Lawler says he might be the only person to sue McMahon and actually win.

There has been some rumours that Lawler and Race had heat from this, but Lawler says he’s never had any heat with Race that he’s aware of. He actually respects Race a lot, and he had a number of great matches with Race. He can even remember being advertised for a 90-minute match with Race at one point.

Lawler gets into his discussion of the Plane Ride From Hell in 2002. It was the end of a European tour and the talents were flying back to the United States on a 7-hour flight. Lawler says he has been live at several WrestleManias and has been a guest at the circus in the past, but he has still never seen anything like the Plane Ride From Hell.

He says that Jim Ross was the head of Talent Relations at that point, and he was the authority figure on the plane that day. However, to Lawler’s recollection, Ross was one of the first people drinking when he got on the plane. Things started to get out of hand quite quickly on this 7-hour flight, and within the first hour most of the talents were under the influence of something.
