NXT Women’s Championship Match Announced

Following last night’s WWE NXT broadcast on the WWE Network, the second match for NXT TakerOver: Brooklyn III was officially confirmed. After Ember Moon defeated Lei’d Tapa, Moon challenged the longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion, Asuka. Later in the show, NXT General Manager William Regal confirmed the match for TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Asuka did not appear on the July 27th NXT broadcast, but she is set to reappear next Wednesday.

Moon and Asuka previously battled in a one-on-one match at TakeOver: Orlando, where Asuka dodged Moon’s Eclipse finishing move by shoving the referee.

The NXT Women’s Championship match is the second match confirmation for the third-consecutive TakeOver in Brooklyn special. The first match confirmation was NXT Champion Bobby Roode vs. Drew McIntyre.

NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III will air live on Saturday, August 19, from the Barclays Center, and it will broadcast exclusively on the WWE Network.

Another “Shakeup?”

In less than a year, we have seen two occasions where WWE superstars moved back and forth between RAW and SmackDown Live brands – the WWE draft last summer and the “Superstar Shakeup” this past April. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are talks of another “Superstar Shakeup” after SummerSlam.

The latest “Shakeup” saw the United States Championship and Intercontinental Championship swap brands, RAW gaining names such as The Miz and Maryse, Dean Ambrose, Alexa Bliss, and Mickie James, while SmackDown Live attracted Charlotte Flair, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn.
