Watch New Alternative Video of AJ Styles Winning U.S. Title at MSG
Ahead of the July 11th broadcast of SmackDown Live, the WWE uploaded alternative angles of AJ Styles’ victory over Kevin Owens for the United States Championship at Madison Square Garden this past weekend. As Top Rope Press reported, Styles defeated Owens with the Phenomenal Forearm during the non-televised live event on July 7.
In new three-minute video footage on uploaded to WWE’s YouTube on Tuesday evening, the final moments of Owens vs. Styles showed each WWE superstar kicking out of each other’s finishing moves, the Pop-up Powerbomb and Styles Clash, respectively. The match continued until Styles hit the Phenomenal Forearm from the top rope. The video also followed Owens as he returned up the entrance aisle, while Styles celebrated the win in the ring.
Last Friday, the WWE did release a post-fight video with Styles’ first comments after winning the title at MSG.
Styles was originally scheduled to challenge Owens for the U.S. title at WWE Battleground later this month after the Georgia-native’s victory in the SmackDown Live Independence Day Battle Royal last week to determine the title’s No. 1 contender. But, since winning the US Title at the live event, that match has been removed from Battleground’s current match card.
