CM Punk Offered $1 Million To Return To Wrestling In The U.K.
A British promotion is going all out to try to convince one of wrestling’s biggest recent stars to make his return to the ring. 5 Star Wrestling has reportedly offered CM Punk $1 million to return for a company tour that begins June 10.
Punk last wrestled in 2014 for WWE. His final match was at the 2014 Royal Rumble in Pittsburgh, entering the bout in the number one position. He walked out of the company the next day due to creative and personal differences. Punk not come close to returning to professional wrestling since, instead choosing to experiment with a career in MMA.
5 Star Wrestling founder Daniel Hinkles recently discussed his efforts to land CM Punk with The Sun.
“We’ve been trying to contact CM Punk on and off for well over a year. We wanted him on the first show we did in Edinburgh in 2015. I’ve tried going through friends in the industry, I’ve gone through his website and sent dozens of emails but the opportunity has never been this big. We want to offer CM Punk $1 million dollars (£770,000) to come and join the 5 Star Wrestling tour starting June 10. It’s a genuine offer. We’d love to hear back from the man himself. We want to do this with him.”
The 5 Star tour that begins on June 10 is a 128 man wrestling tournament. Punk is clearly wanted as the headliner. With the tour less than a month away, it’s a probably an extreme long-shot that Punk would do it given his absence of more than three years from the ring.
Then again, $1 million is a lot of money.
