Title Changes Hands At WrestleMania 38 Night One
The gold is moving. There are a lot of titles in WWE and some of them are among the most prestigious championships in wrestling. Several of them have been around a lot longer than most titles and it can mean a lot when one of them changes hands. You don’t see that take place very often, but when it does, it can be a big deal. That seemed to be the case again this weekend.
On Saturday night at WrestleMania 38, Bianca Belair defeated Becky Lynch to become the new Raw Women’s Champion. The victory gives Belair her first reign with the title, though the returning Lynch defeated her for the SmackDown Women’s Title at Summerslam 2021 in a match that lasted 36 seconds. This was the only title change of the night as the Usos retained the SmackDown Tag Team Titles while Charlotte retained the SmackDown Women’s Title.
Opinion: What mattered here was how special the match felt, as Belair got her title back after losing it about eight months ago. Belair has been one of the top stars in the women’s division for a long time now and it would have been a shame to see her lose all of the work she has put in to becoming such an important player. Lynch had not been pinned in a title match in years at this point either, sot he win means all the more for Belair.
What did you think of the match? How will Belair do as champion? Let us know in the comments below.
