WWE Announces Two Upcoming Title Matches
The big one and the really big one. The most important wrestling story over the last year and a half has been the lack of live wrestling fans due to the Coronavirus pandemic. There have been a few promotions running events with limited fans, but it is time to have the fans back at full force. That can make for some important changes, and now we know what WWE has planned for it, both before and after.
WWE announced a pair of upcoming title matches this week for both the July 12 and July 19 editions of Monday Night Raw. For the July 12 show, United States Champion Sheamus will defend his title against Humberto Carrillo. This will be Sheamus’ first match since May 31 and his first title defense since winning the title at WrestleMania 37 in April. Carrillo has defeated Sheamus in a non-title match.
The second match will take place on July 19, which will be the first Monday Night Raw to have a full capacity audience in over sixteen months. During the show, the Viking Raiders will challenge AJ Styles and Omos for the Raw Tag Team Titles. The Raiders earned their shot by winning a tag team battle royal during the June 7 edition of Monday Night Raw. This will be the teams’ first match against each other.
These are some big matches. Check out how we got here:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that I would like to see take place more often as WWE has a bad tendency to have nothing announced until Monday far too often. Announcing these matches a week and two weeks in advance sets the stage a bit more and I’m curious to see how often they do this in the future. It is a good idea and builds up some hype, but now they need to do something with that hype.
What do you expect from the matches? Will either title change? Let us know in the comments below.
