By His Ruling: Lawsuit Filed Against WWE By MLW Dismissed, Case Not Over Yet

The company has dominated the industry for so long but there are still several other promotions to be found. One such promotion was not happy with WWE’s actions and did something about it, but that has not turned out very well for them. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s On: WWE Officially Sets Trilogy Match For Elimination Chamber In January 2022, Major League Wrestling (MLW) filed a lawsuit against WWE, claiming that WWE had interfered with MLW’s contract negotiations with Tubi and VICE TV. This week, according to PWInsider.com, US District Court Judge Edward J. Davila dismissed the case, basically saying that MLW did not make a strong enough argument to back up claims of WWE violating antitrust laws. He isn’t a fan. There are a lot of things going on in WWE at the moment but the top story continues to be the Bloodline. Headed by Roman Reigns, the stable has dominated WWE for well over a year now and there is nothing to suggest that it will be stopping. The team has grown in recent weeks, but one legend does not seem pleased with the group’s new honorary member. Earlier this month, Sami Zayn was made an official honorary member of the Bloodline, as Reigns gave him an “Honorary Uce” shirt. During an appearance on the SmackDown Low Down, WWE Hall of Famer gave an in-character interview where he said the Bloodline does not respect Zayn and called him a waste of skin. Lawler also said that when Zayn had no shirt on, he looked “like one of those baby birds that just fell out of the next and has no feathers yet.” Zayn has not responded to Lawler’s comments. On Thursday afternoon, a story from ProFootballTalk began circulating that AEW President Tony Khan was running for a seat in the United States House of Representatives in Florida. On top of that, Sammy Guevara defends the TNT Title against Isiah Kassidy and Adam Cole faces Evil Uno. Ok so maybe they’re not all huge matches this time around. Let’s get to it. WWE Attorney Responds To Lawsuit Filed By Major League Wrestling

Now it’s WWE’s turn. WWE is the biggest wrestling promotions in the world and that brings a lot of benefits. The company has more money, more resources, more notoriety and more power than any other promotion in the world. At the same time though, it means that they are going to be a target for some other companies, which has led to a recent lawsuit against them. Now though, WWE has something to say. Earlier this week, news broke that Major League Wrestling (MLW) had sued WWE for anti-trust violations. MLW claims that WWE caused the company to lose a streaming deal with Tubi as well as pressuring VICE TV from airing MLW content. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt has commented on the lawsuit, saying that while he had not seen the lawsuit, MLW had no one to blame but themselves. WWE Being Sued By Major League Wrestling Over Anti-Trust Claims

That could be a big deal. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and that has been the case for a very long time. It is fair to say that it holds a monopoly over the industry, which has made it difficult for another promotion to truly rise up. Things have changed a bit though, and now another promotion is not exactly happy with how WWE runs things. Major League Wrestling (MLW) has issued a press release, by way of 411mania.com, announcing that they are suing WWE over antitrust issues. The suit claims that WWE has disrupted a potential streaming deal for the company, as well as attempted to keep them off of Vice TV because Vince McMahon did not want their content on the network. MLW claims that the streaming deal would have been “transformative” for the company. PWInsider.com has obtained a copy of the lawsuit, which accuses WWE of violating the Sherman Antitrust Act. You have to have a sense of humor. There are certain moments in a wrestler’s career that change things in a major way. Some of these might be financial, such as signing a new contract with a company, but others can be reaching a milestone, such as being trusted as the top star of a promotion. The latter often comes with becoming the World Champion, and now a new champion has something in mind. Over the weekend, Hangman Page defeated Kenny Omega to win the AEW World Title at Full Gear. Following the win, Page has issued a statement, which talks about his title win and what he wants to do as champion. What could have been. There are a lot of stories that take place on a wrestling show at any point in a given year. Some of these are a lot better than others and several are remembered rather fondly.
