WRESTLING RUMORS KILLER: No, Tony Khan Is Not Running For Congress
He has enough to do already. For some reason, wrestlers and wrestling personalities have a bit of a history when it comes to politics. WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura went on to become the Governor of Minnesota while his fellow Hall of Famer Kane became the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. It is something that has had some surprising results, but rumors of another wrestling personality trying his hand in the field do not seem to be true.
On Thursday afternoon, a story from ProFootballTalk began circulating that AEW President Tony Khan was running for a seat in the United States House of Representatives in Florida. However, Khan himself has responded to and denied the reports, saying that the story is untrue and saying that ProFootballTalk’s sources are as trustworthy as Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
The fact checking standard for @ProFootballTalk reporting is far lower than that of @AEW’s roving reporter @tonyschiavone24. I’m definitely not running for Congress; this filing is faker than Eddie Gilbert’s apology to Tommy Rich in 1984. PFT sources as trustworthy as @The_MJF. https://t.co/HPdU53GrfY

Opinion: I’m sure AEW is happy with the update, as I can’t imagine Khan being able to run a wrestling company, help run a football team, and be a member of Congress at the same time. Khan is good but I don’t know if he’s that good. He has done an amazing job with AEW and I’m looking forward to seeing what else he can do in the future, as his first few years with the company have been exceptional.
