He’ll be there. We are about three weeks away from WrestleMania 39 and the bigger matches have been set up. This includes several title matches, including one involving John Cena challenging Austin Theory for the United States Title. That is going to be a unique kind of match as Cena does not regularly appear for WWE, but now we know a bit more about his WrestleMania schedule. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Go Again: Some WWE Stars Expected To Wrestle More Than Once At WrestleMania 39 According to PWInsider.com and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cena will be around for the build towards his title match. Cena’s movie schedule is allowing him to appear on Monday Night Raw, as he has finished filming “Ricky Stanicky” and is now working on “Grand Death Lotto”, which he can film while also appearing on WWE TV. Those stars are few and far between but when they are around, they can be quite valuable. WWE had one of them on their main television show this week and his appearance seems to have been a hit. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: How To Start: Gable Steveson Offers Details On His WWE In-Ring Debut John Cena made an advertised appearance this week on Monday Night Raw where he was confronted by United States Champion Austin Theory. The two argued in the ring and a title match was set up for WrestleMania 39. According to Fightful Select, WWE was said to be happy with Cena’s appearance, saying that he added “familiar eyes” to this week’s show. After decades of WWE dominating the wrestling landscape, there is a secondary option around. That does not mean everyone is going to want to stay there though, and now one of the biggest names in AEW might be signaling that it is time for a change. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: SmackDown Star Reportedly Injured, #1 Contenders Match Possibly Impacted Over the last year, AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman has talked about “The Bidding War Of 2024”, when he will be a free agent, available to sign with WWE or re-sign with AEW. According to Fightful Select, a WWE talent said Friedman told them that he was “looking forward to being there in 2024”, meaning WWE. So I guess he’s done? With so many wrestlers on the AEW roster, it can be difficult to figure out a way to stand out. The wrestlers are talented and there are all kinds of people who can do a variety of things, but only a few are able to connect with the audience in a special way. One of the more popular wrestlers with that ability might not be around the company for a little while. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a Face Of The Revolution ladder match with eight stars. Early in the match, Eddie Kingston and Ortiz brawled off with commentary saying they had to be separated. Following the show, AEW aired a video, showing Kingston being interviewed. Kingston’s entire statement was “I quit AEW. Peace.” There is no word on where this is going. That was abrupt. During the match, Rollins sent Theory outside and grabbed his arms. As per Rollins’ request, a young fan hit Theory, who staggered away as a result. Maybe not? Vince McMahon’s return to WWE has shaken up just about everything in the company. McMahon is back to negotiate a sale of the company and that is going to chance the company’s future in a big way. At the same time, the question has become what else McMahon will be doing. This week we saw some speculation about just that, but it might have been jumping the gun.
