Of Course: 60 Year Old WWE Legend Inducts Himself Into Hall Of Fame, Accuses Miz Of Theft

It’s part of his thing. There are certain wrestlers who become popular with the fans for one reason or another, but in some cases their popularity rises after they hang up their boots. It can be rather interesting to see what a wrestler comes up once their career is over. This is certainly true with a former WWE star, who now thinks that his gimmick has been stolen by someone who came along later. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: BREAKING: WWE Possibly NXT Women’s Title, New Champion To Be Crowned Former WWE star Virgil has taken to Instagram, announcing that he has been inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. He thanked his favorite opponents in the business, including names such as Andre the Giant, Randy Savage and Bret Hart, along with the “million dollar dandy El Dandy”. Finally, Virgil thanked Damage CTRL for allowing him to be their hero and accused the Miz of stealing his gimmick. There is nothing to suggest that WWE has inducted Virgil into the Hall Of Fame. REVIEW: WrestleMania 7: Stars And Stripes And More Stars

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Wrestlemania VII Date: March 24, 1991 Location: Los Angeles Sports Arena, Los Angeles, California Attendance: 16,158 Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan It’s the Gulf War show, as Hulk Hogan is fighting to get the WWF Title back from former American hero turned Iraqi sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter. If that sounds like one of the worst ideas for a Wrestlemania main event ever, you have quite the memory for these things. Other than that we have Randy Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior in a match that actually belongs i..

WrestleFest 1991 Host: Randy Savage Commentators: Lord Alfred Hayes, Sean Mooney Sometimes you need to get away from weekly TV and do some good(ish) old fashioned Coliseum Video. That’s what we have here, with another compilation tape released in July 1991. You never know what you might get on here but that can make for some interesting watches. Let’s get to it. On Paper: What The Contract From Brock Lesnar And Bobby Lashley’s Signing Said

Make sure you read the fine print. There are certain segments that you will see used over and over again to build up matches. These things have been used for years to set up matches, some of which are used a lot more often than others. Several of them are used by WWE to this day and now we know a lot more about the very specific details about a popular one. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: DIG IT! Randy Savage’s Rap Album (Yes That One) Is Coming Back In A Special Way This week’s Monday Night Raw saw a contract signing between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley for their Elimination Chamber match. Lesnar had already signed the contract coming in and, after a brawl between the two, Lashley signed the contract as well. The contract could be seen on the show and, according to Fightful Select, this is what the contract said: February 13th, 2023 To whom it may concern, This document shall serve as a legal and binding agreement amongst all parties scheduled for the Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley Match..

DIG IT! Randy Savage’s Rap Album (Yes That One) Is Coming Back In A Special Way

OH YEAH! There have been all kinds of wrestling merchandise over the years and some of them are more unique than others. You never know what you might find out there as occasionally wrestlers will go a bit out of the box to market themselves. On occasion these items are more infamous than anything else and now one of the weirder ones ever is coming back. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Oh Yeah: Steve Austin Officially Set For Upcoming A&E Series Back in 2003, Macho Man Randy Savage released his debut, and only, rap album called “Be A Man”. The album featured an infamous title track attacking Hulk Hogan for various reasons. Recordstoreday.com has announced that the album will be re-released on vinyl for National Record Store Day on April 22. However, there will only be 1000 copies made and released throughout the country. It was a different time. “The Genius” Lanny Poffo Passes Away At Age 68

We have some sad news to report today as Lanny Poffo, who was known as “The Genius” in WWE has passed away at the age of 68. From WWE.com: The son of Angelo Poffo and younger brother of WWE Hall of Famer “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Lanny Poffo had a style all his own. Arriving in WWE in 1985 alongside his brother, “Leaping” Lanny Poffo was one of the first high-flyers in WWE. While he achieved some success as a fan favorite reading his own poetry and throwing Frisbees to the crowd, he reached new heights as The Genius while managing Mr. Perfect. Lanny had the honor of inducting his brother into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015. You can see a clip of that below: [This post contains video, click to play] Hacksaw Jim Duggan also reported this news; he did so on his Instagram account: With a very, very heavy heart, I’ve been asked to let everyone know about the passing of our friend and colleague Lanny Poffo, The Genius. I’d Watch: The Rock Makes Surprise Choice For His Dream Opponent

That could have been great. One thing that almost every wrestling fan has done over the years is talk about what kind of dream matches they would love to see. Fans can come up with some of the most out there concepts for a match that still sound fun to hear. Occasionally you will see wrestlers doing the same thing and now one of the all time greats has revealed his dream match. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Two Monday Night Raw Stars Make Surprise NXT Appearances In a new post on his Instagram page, Dwayne Johnson is shown wearing Macho Man Randy Savage sunglasses. Former WWE Star Claims Hulk Hogan Nixed Early Randy Savage WWF Title Plans

There’s a game changer. It takes a special kind of star to rise to the top of WWE. Getting there is not easy and it often means making moves that hurt some people in the process. This might not be the nicest thing in the world, but it is the kind of thing that happens with almost every top star. Now a former WWE name is telling a story about one of the biggest stars WWE has ever seen. During the latest episode of his podcast, former WWE star Mario Mancini told a story about then booker George Scott wanting Randy Savage to win the then WWF Title from Hulk Hogan in 1985. According to Mancini, Hogan did not take kindly to the idea and had Vince McMahon fire Scott as a result. Mancini also said that his career would have been very different had Scott remained as booker, though he did not explain why. Savage would go on to win the title three years later at WrestleMania IV. Opinion: I’m never sure what to think about situations like this, as while it does make Hogan look like he was out f..

Ouch: Nasty Injury Takes Place During AEW Dynamite Main Event

It’s the nature of the match. There are a lot of match types in wrestling and some of them are a lot more violent than others. Some of those matches are designed to be as violent as possible, particularly in matches between people who can’t stand each other. It can make for some serious violence, which is on top of the inherent danger of wrestling. That was the case again this week. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Chris Jericho defeat Eddie Kingston in a barbed wire match. The match saw barbed wire around the ring with both wrestlers using it throughout the match. Jericho has since taken to Twitter and revealed that he suffered a broken nose during the match, though it is not clear when in the match it happened. There is nothing to suggest that Jericho will be missing any ring time. Just left the doctors office. It’s official….that SAVAGE @MadKing1981 broke my nose last night. #barbwireeverywhere @AEW pic.twitter.com/1TVUxjUVZx — Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) July 21, 2..

Summerslam 1992 Date: August 31, 1992 Location: Wembley Stadium, London, England Attendance: 80,355 Commentators: Vince McMahon, Bobby Heenan Most of the older editions are in need of an update so we’ll knock out this one. This is one of the biggest crowds in wrestling history and they’re in for a pretty major show. We have a double main event of Randy Savage defending the WWF Title against the Ultimate Warrior and the instant classic of Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog for the Intercontinental Title. WRESTLING RUMORS: Ronda Rousey Demanded Liv Morgan Beat Her

A selfless star. The WWE women’s division has come a long way and a lot of that is due to their star power. The company has a group of top names who have taken the division further than almost anyone could have thought possible. However, at some point you need someone new to fill in the spots, and that seems to be what one of the top starts wanted to do with a new face. Over the weekend, Liv Morgan defeated Ronda Rousey at Money In The Bank to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. According to Rousey’s personal photographer Lazie the Savage on his Instagram stories, Rousey herself demanded that Morgan win the title, calling her the most passionate pro wrestler. The title win was the first in Morgan’s WWE career and she is likely defending the title against Rousey in a rematch at Summerslam. WATCH: The Outsiders vs. Lex Luger, Sting & Randy Savage From WCW Bash at the Beach 1996

New, New, New World Order. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel showing the full match between The Outsiders vs. Lex Luger, Sting & Randy Savage from WCW Bash at the Beach 1996. This marked the beginning of Hulk Hogan’s heel turn and the formation of the nWo. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From our own Thomas Hall: The Outsiders, coming to the ring to some generic music (probably for the only time ever in a bit of trivia that no one ever wondered about), have no third man to crank the drama up even higher. Before Team WCW comes out, here is Gene Okerlund to ask the Outsiders what is up. They confirm that the third man is here but they can handle it themselves for now. Tony: “THEN COME OUT HERE AND KICK THEIR TEETH IN RIGHT NOW!!!” Team WCW is all painted up together for a nice touch. Luger starts with….the yet-to-be-named Scott Hall (“This Outsider” according to Tony) and takes him into the corner where Sting tr..

Finally, this show is infamous for the commentary, which really was a disaster and a horrible idea. Let’s get to it. Earlier today, Jeff Jarrett ca..

The show features a double main event with Ric Flair defending the WWF World Title against Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan’s possible retirement match against Sid Justice. Le..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Elias Was Almost Brought Back Like Randy Savage

That could be a different way to go. The right character can be everything for a wrestler, but the wrong one can be much worse. If something doesn’t click, it can drag a talented wrestler down in a hurry. It can take a lot of tries to make it work right and sometimes you don’t see everything that a wrestler tries. That is the case again, but what might have been sounds fascinating. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE had no long term plans for Elias’ segments in a graveyard and merely wanted to find a way to get rid of his previous character. WWE’s next idea for him would see him with colorful trunks but Vince McMahon felt that it was too similar to Randy Savage and dropped it. There is no word on what WWE plans to do with Elias or when he will be returning to television. Interesting note on Elias, source states they had no end plan for graveyard vignettes. Just shot them to kill off the “music” gimmick. His initial rebranding weeks back looked to similar to Randy Sava..

KB’s Review: Survival Of The Laziest

I’ve been watching wrestling for a very long time and one of my favorite VHS (look it up) tapes was Survivor Series 1987. The late 80s WWF is my favorite era of wrestling ever and this show (plus the next few years) had almost everyone you could want to see on a WWF show from this time. You had a midcard match with ten wrestlers, a women’s match with ten wrestlers, a tag match with twenty (!) wrestlers and a main event match with ten more, including Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant for the first time since the most famous match in history. That’s the kind of thing that made me always want to see the Survivor Series. Where else were you going to see Rick Rude vs. Hulk Hogan or Strike Force vs. Demolition or Randy Savage vs. Hercules (outside of house shows)? It was the kind of card that gave you such a buffet of options and it was awesome to see every single year….at least up until you reach a certain point. After 1990, it was time to quote Owen Hart and realize that enough is enough an..

Ring Of Honor TV Results – October 20, 2021

Ring of Honor Date: October 20, 2021 Location: 2300 Arena, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman We’re still in the post Death Before Dishonor TV taping and that means we still have no crowd. I know Ring of Honor likes to do their marathon tapings but isn’t there some way we could get some fans in there for a change? It has made a world of difference for everyone else and the fans not being there makes Ring of Honor seem like a promotion from another universe. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Quinn McKay (hey she’s back) welcomes us to the show and gives us the preview. Tag Team Titles: Soldiers of Savagery vs. Dragon Lee/Kenny King Lee and King are defending. The Soldiers jump them to start so the champs bail to the floor for an early breather. We settle down to Lee getting in Moses’ face for no effect. It’s the Soldiers being sent outside for a change and that means the champs get to hit the Tranquilo pose. Back in and Khan runs King over for t..
