That’s a lot. The biggest wrestling story of the year thus far is Vince McMahon returning to WWE to steer the company towards a sale. That is the kind of move that can change the wrestling world forever as the new owners could completely reshape WWE into something very different. Now we know another detail that could change the entire sale process by eliminating some competitors. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: RUMOR: Ronda Rousey Up For Marvel Film Role According to Bloomberg, McMahon has targeted $9 billion as the selling price for WWE. This is reportedly 37% higher than the market value of $6.5 billion. The main potential buyer is said to be Endeavor Group Holdings, which owns the UFC, though they would likely need a third party to help them reach the purchase price. You never know what you might find out there as occasionally wrestlers will go a bit out of the box to market themselves. On occasion these items are more infamous than anything else and now one of the weirder ones ever is coming back. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Oh Yeah: Steve Austin Officially Set For Upcoming A&E Series Back in 2003, Macho Man Randy Savage released his debut, and only, rap album called “Be A Man”. The album featured an infamous title track attacking Hulk Hogan for various reasons. Recordstoreday.com has announced that the album will be re-released on vinyl for National Record Store Day on April 22. The more the merrier. AEW has shaken up the wrestling world in a variety of ways, including offering all kinds of fresh content to wrestling fans. As a result, there is a lot more big budget wrestling to be seen in the United States, but that is far from the only place wrestling can be enjoyed. Now AEW is getting to move into a new market with a big international deal. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: One More: 51 Year Old Former World Champion Announces Planned Return To The Ring AEW has announced that it has reached a deal with ESPN to broadcast its events in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. The content will begin airing on February 16, with Dynamite on Thursdays and Rampage on Saturdays. The company’s pay per views will also be available on a delayed basis. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? They have a plan. WWE is an international wrestling promotion and that means they need to try and find a way to expand into as may new markets as possible. There are various places around the world that have long since been strongholds in WWE, but the company can always find new people to watch. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They’re On Deck: Several More Details On NXT’s Participation In The Royal Rumble WWE CEO Nick Khan addressed the company running a future live event in India during WWE’s 4th quarter financial earnings call. Khan said that WWE is waiting for a merger between Zee and Sony India to be completed before the company runs an event in the country. While Khan did not give a specific date, he did say that the hope would be in April. WWE had planned a major event in India for January but it was held off, reportedly due to the looming merger. Nice job. AEW has grown by leaps and bounds since its debut less than four years ago. The company has already seen all kinds of new stars and traditions begin, including going to some rather large markets. That was the case earlier this week as the company took Dynamite to Los Angeles. While the show’s attendance might not have been a record, they did manage to break one important record. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Title Time! Who Left AEW Dynamite As The Trios Champions? This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite was held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the show set a record for the most day of show walk up ticket sales in AEW history. While some of the original advances for the show were seen as “bad”, the eventual attendance was described as “healthy” and over a $700,000 gate for the event. It was a busy night. People are excited. WWE issued a press release today, stating that they have broken the company’s all-time gate record for any WrestleMania, despite having yet to announce a single match. The previous record announced was $17.3 million in 2016 at WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. From the press release: The record gate comes on the heels of unprecedented ticket sales demand for WWE in 2022, in which it produced the highest-grossing gates of all-time for Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and Extreme Rules. Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales, which marked WWE’s first major stadium show in the U.K. in 30 years, was the highest-grossing U.K. event in company history. Additionally, WWE set in-market gate records for SmackDown and Raw events in more than 20 markets for the year, including the December 30 SmackDown, which took place in Tampa, Fla. and heralded the return of WWE Superstar John Cena. With several events taking place just in front of the live fans, wrestlers need to do something to keep things interesting, or at least entertaining. On the shelf. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler as you never know how long they are going to be out of action. An injury can take place at almost any time and put someone on the shelf out of nowhere. That seems to have taken place again, as an AEW is injured and out of action, leaving someone else to take his place in the ring. Sometimes you will see a wrestler debut and not know who they are just yet. That can leave fans guessing, and now they are guessing again about the identity of a character who has only been around for a few weeks. Howdy was back last week and attacked Wyatt in the ring, though his identity is still unknown. Following the attack, former Ring Of Honor star Vincent sent out a tweet saying “Sane? Well that’s relative…dig what I’m saying?” This has led to fan speculation that Vincent is Howdy, though this has yet to be confirmed. Alexa Bliss is one of the most marketable stars that WWE has under contract, which often means a crazy schedule that keeps her away from home for significant stretches of time. Anyone with pets will tell you how hard it is to leave them for an extended period of time. The five-time WWE Women’s Champion just went more than 20 days being home.
