New plan! We are less than three weeks away from WrestleMania 39, which will feature some of the biggest WWE matches of the year. This is the kind of show that can change a wrestler’s future and the question becomes what happens after that. Getting to headline the show is one of the biggest career boosts imaginable and now some different names might be receiving that honor. The Raw Women’s Title match with Bianca Belair defending against Asuka will take place on Night One, while the SmackDown Women’s Title match with Charlotte defending against Rhea Ripley will take place on Night Two. There are different ways to go after the loss, but occasionally someone loses a title without losing a match, which is what has happened again. Ring Of Honor Date: March 9, 2023 Location: Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman We’re still on the first taping of this new show so things are likely to look like they did last week. The wrestling itself was pretty good, but the length of the show was quite the drag. They did offer something big at the end with Eddie Kingston showing up to challenge Claudio Castagnoli, so there is at least a path forward in the main event. Let’s get to it. TV Title: Samoa Joe vs. Tony Deppen Joe is defending and works on the wrist to start. For some reason Deppen strikes away, earning himself a beating in the corner. Deppen fights back though and hits a running corner dropkick. A knee gives Deppen two more but Joe Rock Bottoms him out of the corner. It was fun while it lasted. There are so many wrestlers on the WWE roster that it can be easy to forget about some of them. To make it even more complicated, there is also the NXT roster, which features stars who are not on television nearly as often. Occasionally someone will quietly slip away from the company and that seems to be the case again with an international star. Sarray signed with WWE in 2020 but her debut was delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. She appeared infrequently on NXT and was eventually repackaged into an anime inspired character who transformed with a magical necklace. Some of the top matches will have a major impact on what WWE does for the next several months, if not that much longer. However, there is a lot going on after the show is over and now we have an idea of what to expect. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Long Move: Interesting Note On WWE’s Change To Premium Live Events According to Xero News, WWE is considering two main events for Backlash, the next Premium Live Event after WrestleMania 39. The first option would see Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. There is no word on who would be champion going into the match. The other option would be Rhodes teaming with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to face Reigns and the Usos in a non-title match. There is no word on which way WWE is leaning. Some of them can be more serious than others, but the question becomes what happens after the initial moment. We saw a more serious one this week at the end of a television show, and now it could be going in a variety of directions. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Double Shot: Monday Night Raw Star And Main Event Officially Set For NXT Stand & Deliver The main event of this week’s NXT saw Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez successfully defend her title against Meiko Satomura. Following the match, the two shook hands before Perez collapsed without being attacked. She was taken out of the arena on a stretcher and put in an ambulance to end the show.
