Funny Video: New Day’s Commentary From This Week’s SmackDown Live

They usually have something to say. New Day is one of the most popular factions that WWE has ever put together. They’re successful, they’re funny, they sell a ton of merchandise, and they have some rather funny promos. The trio recently won the SmackDown Tag Team Titles, making them five time champions. Therefore, there’s a reason to hear them talk and that’s what they did on Tuesday.
Believe it or not, cereal was involved.

WWE has posted a video looking at and listening to the New Day’s commentary during this Tuesday’s triple threat match between the Bar, the Colons and the Good Brothers. The winners would face off with the winners of another triple threat match for a shot at the New Day’s titles. The team talked a lot with a good deal of comedy thrown in. Some snippets were included during the show but the video includes even more.
Make sure to check out this week’s SmackDown Live results.

Is the AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe Feud Going Too Far in WWE?

AJ Styles and Samoa Joe are in the midst of a very intense, very personal rivalry in WWE. Styles and Joe are putting in some great work thus far, both in the ring and on the mic but many fans are actually having a problem with the content of their conflict. As illogical as it may seem to some, this feud is receiving criticism due to things Samoa Joe has said in regard to AJ’s family. Fans are asking if Joe has gone too far with his comments. Better yet, is WWE going too far with this feud? The fact is that Styles and Joe are doing good business right now and no amount of uncomfortable heat should change that.
This is not the first time that WWE has embraced controversy with a storyline of course. But it is more of a rare instance in this PG era. Styles versus Joe is a throwback to The Attitude Era in some ways, if only because of the deeply personal tone of the rivalry.
Joe committed the unforgivable sin when he decided to drag AJ’s family into the feud. Styles was his usual unshakab..

What The Heck Happened To Him? John Cena Posts Picture Showing Very Different Look

Well that’s….different. John Cena has been around WWE for a very long time now. Debuting back in the spring of 2002, Cena has become one of the biggest stars in the company’s history. He’s changed quite a bit over the years, going from a cocky kid to a genuine superstar. His look has changed as well, going a loudmouthed rapper to the All American boy. Well now things have changed again.
In a new post on his Twitter, Cena is showing off a very different physique, filled with large veins and a far less muscular chest. Cena hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 34 back in April but is scheduled to be wrestling in China this weekend. At the moment there is no word on Cena coming back to WWE for more than a few random matches here are there. Here is a new photo of Cena, followed by one from this year’s WrestleMania, about five months prior, courtesy of WWE.com:

Rumor: Big Updates On Roman Reigns’ Title Reign, Including His Next Challenger

Someone has to be next. Earlier this month at Summerslam, Roman Reigns finally dethroned Universal Champion Brock Lesnar to win the title. The win was a very long time in the making and the title change means that Reigns is now the top star in the company all over again. With the title win comes the need for some challengers and we now know a few more things about Reigns’ title reign.
According to SI.com, Reigns is likely to be holding the Universal Title for a long time, meaning it’s unlikely that Braun Strowman is going to be taking the title away from in their upcoming Hell In A Cell match. After Reigns is done with Strowman, Drew McIntyre seems to be next in line to challenge him for the title. Strowman and McIntyre are currently scheduled to team with Dolph Ziggler to face the Shield at Super Show-Down in October.
Foreshadowing?

Rumor Killer On Possible Kevin Owens Storyline

Well so much for that. Stories come in and out all over the place in wrestling and it’s hard to say what’s actually true or false. There’s always the chance that something is already slated to happen and then things change in a heartbeat. Then there are times where the story was never accurate in the first place. One of those things may have happened now and it sounds like a good story is off the table.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is no truth to the rumor that Kevin Owens will be the next Paul Heyman Guy. At the moment Heyman doesn’t have a client and Owens “quit” WWE earlier this week on Monday Night Raw. WWE has even played up the idea that Owens is done by moving him over to their Alumni Section on WWE.com. There is no word on when Owens will be back on TV.
Doesn’t he look like he needs someone?

Opinion: I hope the rumor killer is wrong as is could have been a lot of fun if they were allowed to work together. C..

Dream On The Card. NXT Talent To Appear For EVOLVE Next Month

I must be in a dream. WWE is the undisputed king of professional wrestling but there are other promotions out there with some outstanding talent. Just because a promotion is smaller doesn’t mean that they don’t have something worth seeing and WWE knows that some of these people are around. Now what’s going to happen when a person from these places start getting together?
As announced on WWE.com, Velveteen Dream will be working for EVOLVE for two shows next month. Dream will be wrestling on September 7 at EVOLVE 112 in Joppa, Maryland against Austin Theory and September 8 at EVOLVE 113 in Queens, New York against Darby Allin. The matches will only be for the live crowd and will not be broadcast on the pay per views. WWE has worked with EVOLVE before, with Adam Cole wrestling in June.
This is what’s waiting for EVOLVE.

Opinion: I see nothing wrong with any of this. WWE gets to showcase some of their talent in front of a new audience who migh..

It’s Like Summer Vacation. Check Out This Behind The Scenes Footage From Summerslam

Just in case you didn’t see enough of it. In the vein of every major WWE show anymore (outside of WrestleMania), this year’s Summerslam pay per view was a four hour event with two hours of a Kickoff Show. That’s a very long time to watch any wrestling event and WWE never seems to mind. There’s so much content to watch but now that we’re nearly two weeks removed, we have something extra to see.
It’s a different way of looking at the show.

WWE has posted a new video of behind the scenes footage from this year’s Summerslam event. The video is exactly what it sounds like with a look at some of the bigger name stars arriving and getting ready for their matches, including spending time with their families. AJ Styles is prominently featured as his wife and daughter were featured on the show during his match.
In case you didn’t get enough of it, here are this year’s Summerslam results.
Opinion: This is one of the rare things that always works. Wr..

Tonight is the Redefined show, which could mean several things. We’ll be getting a few title matches, including Su Yung defending the Knockouts Title against Tessa Blanchard and Allie, along with Fenix challenging for the X-Division Title. I’m sure there will be some more with Eddie Edwards/Moose vs. Austin Aries/Killer Kross as well. Let’s get to it.
Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.
We open with a recap of the two title matches plus the Edwards vs. Aries feud.
Opening sequence.
X-Division Title: Brian Cage vs. Fenix Fenix is defending and has Pentagon Jr. with him. Some early flips keep Fenix away from Cage until a drop toehold sets up a 619 from the champ. Fenix tries some springboards but gets his head taken off with a clothesline. Another springboard is broken up and a delayed apron superplex has Fenix in even more trouble.

We’ll wrap up Canada week here with the highlight package show. This week has been better than most for WWE as the followup to Summerslam has actually been pretty strong. The promos and stories have all been good and we’ve even had some nice matches to go with them. Hopefully the short form versions are good as well. Let’s get to it.
Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.
Opening sequence.
No Way Jose vs. Tyler Breeze Breeze armdrags him down to start and lays on the top, only to have Jose dance at him in return. Some right hands in the corner have Breeze in trouble so he takes out the knee to put Jose down. A half crab stays on the knee until Jose kicks him to the floor. That’s broken up after Breeze pulls him back to the middle but a dropkick to the knee makes things even worse. Jose is fine enough to catapult him into the corne..

It Had To End Sometime. AJ Styles Just Broke A Thirteen Year Old Record.

A record is made to be broken. Last November, AJ Styles won the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal on an episode of SmackDown Live from England. Not only was this the first time the title had changed hands in England and the first time in over fourteen years that the title had changed hands on SmackDown, but it’s a reign that is still going to this day. That’s a record in its own right.
As of Wednesday, Styles is now the longest reigning champion in SmackDown Live history, with a title reign lasting 281 days. This breaks John Bradshaw Layfield’s record, which he set during his 2004-2005 reign and held it ever since. Styles’ reign is now the thirteenth longest in WWE Championship history. Should he make it through Summerslam, he would likely move up to eleventh all time, which he would reach on September 3.
Every record has to start somewhere.

Opinion: I love stats like these and it’s one of the more interesting ones as Styles could keep go..

It’s the go home show for Takeover: Brooklyn and we now have a new main event of NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Gargano in a Last Man Standing match. The big question now is who attacked Aleister Black, who was originally in the match but was found unconscious in the parking lot last week. Odds are that one is going to take some time to find out though so let’s get to it.
In Memory Of Jim Neidhart.
We open with a recap of the NXT Title situation, including a look at Black being laid out.
Street Profits vs. The Mighty The fans sound like they’re chanting MIGHTY JOBBERS. Miller and Ford start things off with the former taking over off some chops in the corner. Ford jumps over him though and it’s off to Dawkins to run Thorn over. A belly to back suplex into a moonsault (Black Panther Splash) sets up the old World’s Greatest Tag Team jump ov..

Rumor: Backstage Meeting Taking Place Between Brock Lesnar And WWE Before Summerslam

You mean they still don’t know? We’re almost to Summerslam on Sunday and that should mean that most everything is ready. There isn’t a lot of time left to add anything new as both the final Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live have aired. Therefore, it’s reasonable to believe that the card is set. However, it seems that there might be something up in the air backstage and it’s a pretty big deal.
According to Barnburner’s Fired Up podcast by way of Ringsidenews.com, there is a backstage meeting planned between WWE and Brock Lesnar before Summerslam goes on the air. There aren’t any specifics on what the meeting will be about, but there is a possibility that it will result in Lesnar retaining the title and working with both the WWF and UFC going forward. Here are the quotes:
“Apparently Sunday around 4 o’clock, Brock Lesnar will have a closed-door meeting with the head honchos, maybe Stephanie, Triple H, Vince, or whatever. I don’t know what that meeting’s about. But, if he retains the ..
