REVIEW: Evolution: They Deserve It (Rhythmic Clapping)

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

It’s time for another historical one with the first ever all female pay per view. This has been long in the making and the card is pretty close to being stacked, though at seven matches with four hours to fill, we could be in for something interesting. The only mystery isn’t so much what Stephanie McMahon will say but how long she’ll take to say it. Let’s get to it..

Usos’ Brother, Son Of Former WWE Star, More Highlight New NXT Class

Keep the shelves stocked. There have been a lot of wrestlers leaving WWE and NXT over the last few months and that is likely to be the case again in the future. The shelves have been greatly depleted in a near record time, but that at some point some new wrestlers are going to be brought in. That seems to be the case again, and there are some names that might ring a bell.
WWE has announced six new names as part of the Performance Center Class of August 2021. Some of the signings are related to WWE stars, with another having a different kind of wrestling connection:
• Joseph Fatu, the younger brother of the Usos, standing 6’2 and weighing 240lbs. He played college football and has been wrestling for two years.
• Ben Buchanan, the son of former WWE star Bull Buchanan and a high school wrestling champion, standing 6’4 and weighing 250lbs. He was the Alabama high school wrestling champion and was undefeated in the 2019-2020 season.
• Bobby Steveson, the brother of Olympic Gold Medal wi..

RUMOR: WATCH: Monday Night Raw Match Breaks Down Into A Bad Way

It can happen. There are a lot of wrestling matches every single week and a good number of them are held on national television. As a result, you are going to get to see quite a few different things on any given wrestling show. Some of these are going to be different than others, and that was absolutely the case during this week’s Monday Night Raw, with a once in a blue moon display.
This week’s edition of Monday Night Raw featuring a non-title match between Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte and Nia Jax. The match ran just shy of fourteen minutes and saw Jax drop Charlotte multiple times, including via a belly to back suplex without dropping down herself. The match included a variety of harder than usual looking shots, and it seems there is something more to it.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, the match turned into a shoot fight at times, with both women hitting each other outside of the boundaries of a normal match. The match also included multiple instances of both women seemingly not ..

Not So Fast: WWE’s New Hiring Practices Not What They Seem

That makes more sense. There have been a lot of changes taking place on the WWE landscape over the last few months and that changes are likely to continue. With so many different things taking place, it can be easy to get a bit lost with what is going on. It isn’t any better when you hear things that are not quite accurate, which seems to be the case again.
Several of the changes that have been taking place in WWE as of late involve NXT. Vince McMahon has not approved of how the developmental territory has been doing and he has decided to shake things up. This will include a new direction for the television show, as well as how wrestlers are chosen for the roster. However, the changes might not be as extreme as expected.
Earlier this month, reports began to surface that NXT would no longer be hiring independent wrestlers for its roster. However, according to PWInsider.com, this is not entirely true. Instead, while WWE will be looking for athletes from outside wrestling, they will not..

Interesting Update On Adam Cole’s Pro Wrestling Future

Happy trails? The turnover rate in WWE has been astounding as of late with all kinds of wrestlers being released from the company over the last few months. That is not the only way wrestlers have left though, as some have departed when their contracts expired. As a result, they are instantly free agents who can sign anywhere at any time. Now it is happening again with a fairly big name.
According to PWInsider.com, Adam Cole is officially a free agent, as his contract expired last Friday. WWE sent out an internal memo, saying that Cole is gone from the company, though there is a chance that he could sign with WWE again. According to Fightful Select, Cole is currently expected to listen to offers from other promotions but could debut with any promotion at any time.
Cole is a heck of a star. Check out who other promotions will be bidding on:

WATCH: WWE Star Reveals He Needs Knee Surgery

That sounds serious. There are always going to be injuries in wrestling and some of them come out of nowhere. At the same time, there are some injuries which are going to be built up over time. Neither of these are exactly optimal and unfortunately you don’t know when one of them is coming. That was the case again, and now we know just how bad a WWE legend is hurt.
Earlier this month at Summerslam, Goldberg unsuccessfully challenged Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship. Goldberg lost the match via referee stoppage when he suffered a knee injury. In a new video on WWE’s YouTube channel, Goldberg said that he had suffered ligament damage and would require surgery, but he was still coming for Lashley. The rematch has been rumored for Crown Jewel in October.
Goldberg is quite the force when he is healthy. Check out the video, and what he is capable of doing:

VIDEO: Celebrating Roman Reigns One Year Universal Title Reign

It is worth another look. Titles are one of the most important things in all of wrestling as they symbolize success. Any fan can figure out the idea behind a title, as the best wrestler has the big title belt. It makes sense to have more than a few titles in a company, but at the same time, there needs to be one title above the rest. That seems to be the case in WWE, and they are now one of the titles has reached a milestone.
As of Monday, Roman Reigns has held the Universal Title for one year. Reigns won the title last year at Payback on August 30, 2020 and has remained champion since. As a result, WWE has released a video looking at his title reign, including clips of major moments from his title reign. This includes both title matches and non-title matches, plus the debut of his new theme song. Reigns has currently held the title for 366 days, giving him the second longest reign in the title’s history, only behind Brock Lesnar’s 504 day reign, which Reigns ended.
It is quite the t..

WWE Main Event Results – August 26, 2021

Main Event
Date: August 26, 2021
Location: Perchanga Arena, San Diego, California
Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Byron Saxton
We’re done with Summerslam and now it is time to get back to normal around here. Granted Main Event has been at normal for a long time now so maybe we can get a little change of pace, even if it does not last long. I’m not exactly thrilled by either option but such is life on this show. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin They slap hands to start and Benjamin runs him over with a shoulder. Neither can hit their finisher early so Hardy sends him into four top turnbuckles in a row. Another Twist of Fate attempt is countered and Benjamin runs the corner for a knee to the face. We hit the reverse chinlock but Hardy fights up in a hurry and knocks Benjamin down for a breather. Hardy’s leg trap rollup gets two but Benjamin hits a powerslam for the same. The Twist of Fate is countered into a German suplex to give Benjamin two more but no..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – August 30, 2021

Monday Night Raw
Date: August 30, 2021
Location: Chesapeake Energy Arena, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves
We are on the way to Extreme Rules and that means we need some things to set up for the show. That could take some time, as Raw has a tendency to not exactly rush things. There isn’t much going on with this show though, as we need something other than RKBro and waiting around for Goldberg to show up for the Bobby Lashley rematch. Let’s get to it.
Here is Damian Priest to get things going. He welcomes us to the show and talks about how he is going to show the title the respect it deserves. We hear about some famous US Champions, including Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy and John Cena, because the title’s history is about six years old. That’s unlike WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, who ran away from a challenge last week. Therefore, let’s have an open challenge.
US Title: Damian Priest vs. Sheamus Sheamus is challenging but hang on because he nee..

Ring Of Honor TV Results – August 25, 2021

Ring of Honor
Date: August 25, 2021
Location: UMBC Event Center, Baltimore, Maryland
Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman
It’s another step closer to Death Before Dishonor and that means the card needs to be set. Ring of Honor has a tendency to take their sweet time with some of these things and that can be frustrating, but odds are this week’s show will continue focusing on the Women’s Title tournament. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
We open with a recap of last week’s pretty good Champions vs. All Stars match.
Ian Riccaboni runs down the card, featuring two Women’s Title tournament quarterfinal matches.
Quinn McKay and Rok-C get into it over a matter of respect.
Women’s Title Tournament Quarterfinals: Quinn McKay vs. Rok-C
They shake hands to start and lock up to go technical early on. Rok-C grabs a bridging hammerlock but gets reversed with a hammerlock into a headlock. That’s reversed into a headlock from Rok-C, which is broken up as well and it’s another standof..

Boss Return Time? Update On Sasha Banks’ WWE Status

At least they have a time. There are all kinds of reasons for a wrestler to miss a show, but oftentimes fans are left wondering what is causing the absences. That is the case again at the moment in WWE, as one of their more important stars has been missing in action for the last few weeks. It has led to some changes in the lineups, but now we might know a bit more about when she will be back.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE is hopeful that Sasha Banks can return to television at the September 10 Madison Square Garden SmackDown. Banks has been out of action since the August 7 WWE live event, including missing her SmackDown Women’s Title match at Summerslam. There is no word on why Banks has been missing, with the only explanation being that she is not cleared.
Banks has not even been back that long. Check out what she can do when she is around:

RUMOR: Likely Main Event For WWE Crown Jewel

Looks like that’s next. We are in the middle of a pretty busy period for WWE as they are looking at several major events in a row. Summerslam has come and gone and the build for Extreme Rules has already begun. However, there is still Crown Jewel coming up in October, and now it seems that we know where the top spot on the card is head. It just happens to be something we have seen before.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, a Summerslam rematch between Goldberg and Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship is expected to take place at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. The show will take place in October, but no specific date has been announced. Lashley defeated Goldberg via referee stoppage at Summerslam but accidentally attacked Goldberg’s son Gage after the match. Goldberg did not appear on the following Monday Night Raw.
As if it wasn’t obvious, source states WWE is planning on the Goldberg vs Lashley rematch to take place in Saudi Arabia in October.
