NXT Live Coverage And Results – October 12, 2021

NXT
Date: October 12, 2021
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph
It’s another big night this time around as we have Santos Escobar challenging Isaiah Scott for the North American Title. Given that Scott and company have been Drafted to SmackDown, there might not be the most drama on this one. Maybe they have a curve ball for us, but that might not be a good idea. Let’s get to it.
Earlier today, Legado del Fantasma jumped Hit Row and kidnapped everyone but Isaiah Scott.
Opening sequence.
Joe Gacy is in the ring and says that Tommaso Ciampa holding the NXT Title means untold unbalance. Tonight, Gacy will beat the walking example of toxic masculinity and championship privilege. He represents all of his Snowflakes and is ready to inject himself into the championship match at Halloween Havoc.

Jay White And Tama Tonga: Heading For A Bullet Club Breakdown?

Jay White’s recent activities in the United States have heightened his overall exposure for professional wrestling fans. Many of those fans may not follow The Switchblade on a full time basis, mostly because they perhaps do not subscribe to New Japan World.
But now they’re getting just a taste of what The Bullet Club leader is capable of when he’s at his best. Jay is 5-0 in singles matches since his July arrival in America and he’s still untouchable on the mic as well. But despite how good White looks, Tama Tonga seems none too happy and may be on his way to taking the power back from King Switch.

The Shadow Leadership The dynamic of The Bullet Club is intriguing, to say the least. Tama is a founding member of the group, which has become arguably the most dominant in pro wrestling history. Much of that is thanks to his work, both as a character and in the ring. Tama is real. He’s as real as they come and he’s never been shy about reminding..

WATCH: New Name Announced For Wrestling Hall Of Fame

That’s a special one. There are all kinds of awards and accomplishments that can be won during a wrestler’s career, but it is rare to see anything that acknowledges their entire career. A championship reign usually only looks at a small portion of their career, as the title reign will end one day. It means a lot to see someone’s entire career recognized and that is the case again.
Over the weekend at Knockouts Knockdown, Impact Wrestling announced that Awesome Kong will be inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame at Bound For Glory on October 23. Christy Hemme returned to announce the induction, with Kong appearing and dedicating her induction to Daffney, who passed away last month. Kong wrestled for Impact Wrestling in multiple stints, where she is a two time Knockouts Champion and a one time Knockouts Tag Team Champion. She also worked in Japan, Ring of Honor, AEW and briefly in WWE before announcing her retirement in August of this year.
This was a special moment. Check out the an..

WRESTLING RUMOR: Big Spoiler For WWE Crown Jewel

I’d say he has earned it. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and it takes quite the performance to really stand out. That makes it all the more impressive when someone makes it work, which has been the case with Roman Reigns. With a year plus reign as Universal Champion, it is clear that reigns is at the top of his game. Now we might have an idea of what that means going forward.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, Reigns is expected to retain the Universal Title over Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel on October 21. WWE is said to be very happy with Reigns’ work as champion, as well as how strong his merchandise sales have been. Reigns has held the title since August 30, 2020 and is not expected to lose the title until sometime next year at the earliest.
Reigns is a different kind of champion. Check out what he has been doing as of late:

REVIEW: Death Before Dishonor XVIII: The Next Wrestling Show

Death Before Dishonor 2021
Date: September 12, 2021
Location: 2300 Arena, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman
It’s back to pay per view and it’s actually out of Baltimore for a change. As tends to be the case in Ring of Honor, the show has not exactly been built up well, but the company has the ability to throw out a bunch of stuff and make it work. The main event is a four way elimination match for the World Title so let’s get to it.
In Memory of Daffney. That’s a nice touch.
Pre-Show: Honor Rumble
Fifteen man Royal Rumble with ninety second intervals and the winner gets a future World Title shot. Brian Johnson is in at #1 (and gets to talk about how amazing Philadelphia, his hometown, really is) and Brian Milonas is in at #2. The fans are behind Johnson, which has commentary very confused. The much bigger Milonas grabs a front facelock and takes him over to the ropes as he thinks this is a Pure Rules match. Johnson has to escape but it’s Beer C..

Disappointing Statistic For WWE Queen’s Crown Tournament

I guess they had something better to do. This year, WWE is trying a new concept with the Queen’s Crown Tournament. The tournament is the female version of the King of the Ring and will begin and end on the same day. This is the first time the company has ever run such a tournament and the first round has ended. It just might not be as popular as WWE expected for one specific reason.
The first round of the Queen’s Crown Tournament featured four matches, with the longest lasting 3:04. The four matches combined to last eight minutes and twelve seconds. By comparison, the first four rounds of the King of the Ring tournament lasted over thirty nine minutes combined. Any of the four matches would have been longer than the four women’s matches put together. The shorter women’s matches has led to some discontent backstage. The semifinals are scheduled to take place on the next editions of SmackDown and Monday Night Raw, with the finals on October 21 at Crown Jewel.
They have been good while ..

WWE Confirms Multiple Details On This Year’s Survivor Series

At least they have an idea. WWE presents several pay per view events every year and some of them are quite recognizable. You will see some of them take place regularly every year and a lot of the time you can figure out what you are going to see based on the name alone. Not all of them are that simple though, and now WWE has clarified how an upcoming event will go.
This week on Monday Night Raw, the commentary team discussed the upcoming Survivor Series pay per view and confirmed that it will again be a battle for brand supremacy between Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. There will also be another champion vs. champion match with the WWE Champion facing the Universal Champion. This will be the sixth year in a row featuring this concept.
There have been some good editions of the idea. Check out some of the better moments:

New Grudge Match Set For WWE Crown Jewel

There’s your next one. We are less than two weeks away from WWE Crown Jewel, which will be the company’s next event from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The show will feature some rather high profile matches as WWE treats each event as one of their biggest of the year. That can make for some important moments, and now we know something else on the card.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Mansoor and Mustafa Ali were defeated by Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. Following the match, Ali, who was pinned, shoved Mansoor away for trying to help him. Later in the show, Ali yelled at Mansoor and attacked him. After the show was over, WWE confirmed that the two will meet at Crown Jewel in Mansoor’s home country.

This should be a special one. Check out how we got here and Mansoor’s time in the ring in Saudi Arabia:

VIDEO: Former WCW Star Makes AEW Debut

Welcome back. There have been a lot of wrestling promotions over the years but only a few of them have made any kind of serious impact. You do not see many promotions making a big impression, as there are only so many ways to become big and then stick around. There are a few more today, and now one of them is bringing in someone from another company that did it before.
Former WCW star Crowbar made his AEW debut during this week’s edition of Dark: Elevation, where he was defeated by Joey Janela. Crowbar has wrestled on the independent circuit since leaving WCW, save for a few appearances for Impact Wrestling. There is nothing to suggest that he will be wrestling for AEW long term. Before the show aired, Crowbar released a video on Twitter, thanking the fans and Tony Khan for giving him a chance.
It was a nice surprise. Check out the promo, the show (with Crowbar’s match beginning at around 22:20) and some of his time in WCW:

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – October 11, 2021

Monday Night Raw
Date: October 11, 2021
Location: Chase Center, San Francisco, California
Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton
We’re less than two weeks away from Crown Jewel and last week, Smackdown added a Hell in the Cell match to the card. That could mean Raw needs to add a huge match of its own, but you never can tell with these things. Hopefully this show can add a nice feeling to the Queen’s Crown Tournament, as the Smackdown matches were nearly insulting last week. Let’s get to it.
Here is Drew McIntyre, with his sword, to get things going. He thinks it’s a fun idea that the Scottish Warrior is kicking it off in the home of the Warriors and welcomes us to the show. Drew runs down the Crown Jewel card and says he’ll be winning the WWE Title in the match everyone is going to be talking about. McIntyre has a story from earlier today but here is Big E. to interrupt.
Big E. talks about the sweet nectar of being champion dripping down his chin and between his nipp..

WRESTLING RUMOR: Surprise Split Almost Took Place During WWE Draft

That could have been a stretch. The WWE Draft has come and gone for the year and that means a lot of changes have taken place. There were several major moves made and some of them were rather interesting, with some of the adjustments changes the course of several wrestlers careers. It turns out that there was almost another big change for two wrestlers which never went through.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE was considering breaking up the AJ Styles/Omos tag team during the Draft but ultimately changed their minds. The move was ready to be made but some of the higher ups on the show, including an unnamed top wrestler, stood up and said that it was a bad idea. The theory was that Omos is not ready to be a singles star just yet, with WWE listening to the issues.
WWE had seriously considered breaking the pairing of AJ Styles & Omos during draft. To the point where that was the plan. Until people of power (including a main RAW talent) spoke up & expressed thoughts on ..

Top WWE Name Inducted Into International Sports Hall Of Fame

That’s quite the honor. There are all kinds of prizes and championships to be won in wrestling but they are not the kind of things that last. While those titles may not last forever, there are very few honors in wrestling which last forever. Sometimes you see someone receive a special award and it can be rather impressive. That was the case again this weekend.
Stephanie McMahon has been inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame. This makes McMahon the first female executive to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, which was established in 2012. McMahon’s ceremony took place on Sunday October 10 and also included Jay Cutler, Peter Westbrook, Billy Blanks, Marcus Allen, & Ernie Reyes Sr. as part of the class.
