Shawn Michaels Sees NXT Star As A Project, Reason For Big Push

He got their attention. NXT is in a strange place at the moment as there are all kinds of wrestlers who have been coming and going from the show. Everything is being changed with moves being made on an almost weekly basis. That can make for some interesting moments as you don’t know what you are going to see. This week saw another change and it happened for a good reason.
The main event of this week’s NXT saw Isaiah Scott successfully defend his North American Title against Santos Escobar. After the match was over, Carmelo Hayes cashed in his Breakout Tournament contract to win the title in an impromptu match. According to Fightful Select, Hayes has impressed some of the higher ups in NXT, including Shawn Michaels. Following his match with Kushida, Hayes was seen as a project for Michaels, as Michaels sees a lot of himself in Hayes. The title win was designed to turn Hayes into a bigger star while also protecting Scott, who is leaving for SmackDown.

I’m starting to like this show a bit more than I ever thought I would, as they have gotten into a bit more of a rhythm. You can almost bet on a women’s match, a cruiserweight match and an NXT midcard match. That’s not a bad way to go and the fact that it is done in about half an hour makes it even better. Let’s get to it.
Amari Miller vs. Sarray Miller grabs a wristlock to start but Sarray spins her over into one of her own. Sarray pulls it to the mat for a cross armbreaker but Miller fights up. A heck of a clothesline drops Sarray for two and we hit the chinlock. Back up and Miller scores with a spinning kick to the face for two, setting up an STO for the same. Sarray has had it with this though and comes back with the running dropkick against the ropes for the pin at 4:43.
Result: Sarray b. Amari Miller – Running dropkick (4:43)

I’m not sure what to expect from this show these days and that can be rather interesting. It’s never clear what you’re going to get and thankfully Ring of Honor knows how to give you the best out of everything they offer. If that can be the case again this week, we should be in for another fun show. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Violence Unlimited issues an open challenge for tonight. Danhausen comes in, realizes he’s in the wrong place, and leaves.
We get a preview, minus Quinn McKay.
Taylor Rust/Alex Zayne vs. Briscoes Rust and Zayne talk about being ready to step up against the Briscoes as Zayne is on his way to the World Title. The Briscoes tell them to bring it and be made famous. Rust and Mark start things off with the latter not being able to get very far off of a leg dive attempt. A headlock takeover works better for Mark but Zayne is right..

Huge Main Event Confirmed For AEW Full Gear

There’s the first one. AEW has done a lot of things right since debuting just a few years ago. One of their greatest strengths is the way they have presented their championships, as the titles have been treated as some of the most important things in the promotion. That is hard to accomplish but AEW has pulled it off. Now they have a chance to take the next step for their top title.
AEW President Tony Khan spoke with Robbie Barstool on My Mom’s Basement and revealed that Kenny Omega will be defending the AEW World Title against Kenny Omega at Full Gear on November 13. The match comes after Page won the Casino Ladder Match during last week’s edition of Dynamite. The two met last year at Full Gear, with Omega defeating Page to become the new #1 contender.
This could be great. Check out some of their history together:

WATCH: AEW Star Calls Out The Rock To Come To Dynamite

That’s one way to go. There are stars in the wrestling world and then there is the Rock, who has long since been one of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling and one of the biggest stars in all of entertainment. That is going to get him a lot of attention, with some of it coming from fellow wrestlers. We saw that again this week, and it was done in the form of a rap.
Earlier this month, the Rock took part in his first rap song with Face Off, which went all the way to #1 on the iTunes rap charts. AEW’s Max Caster, who is also a rapper, took offense to this and has responded to the Rock. In a new interview with TMZ Sports, Caster freestyled a rap on the Rock, including challenging him to come to Dynamite and have a match. Rock has not responded to Caster.
This got interesting in a hurry. Check out Rock’s rap, Caster’s response, and how a wrestling battle rap works:

VIDEO: The Miz Turns Blue On Dancing With The Stars (And It’s Awesome)

I’d say he went the extra mile. There are a lot of wrestlers in the world today and only a handful of them really get to stand out. Some of them are willing to do whatever it takes to make their company look good and it shows quite a bit. You do not get to see that kind of dedication very often, and now one of the most well known for it is showcasing himself outside of the ring as well.
The Miz is a contestant on this season of Dancing With The Stars, partnering with professional dancer Witney Carson. The fourth week of the competition was Disney Week, featuring the dancers in Disney inspired costumes. Miz painted himself blue as the Genie from Aladdin while performing Friend Like Me. Miz is still active in the competition through four weeks and is one of the final eleven participants out of fifteen.
He does this rather well. Check out Miz’s dance, plus a bit of him in his more natural job:

Becky Lynch Explains Curious Summerslam Squash Over Bianca Belair

There’s the line of thinking. Every now and then, you see something in wrestling that does not make a ton of sense. It can leave wrestling fans sitting around wondering what is going on and what the company is thinking. That was the case earlier this summer with one of the highest profile moments in a long time, and now we know more about how the thinking went.
Back at Summerslam, Becky Lynch made her return after a sixteen month absence and defeated Bianca Belair in 26 seconds to win the SmackDown Women’s Title. Lynch appeared on the Out Of Character podcast and discussed the match, including why it was a short squash. Lynch explained that WWE did not want to damage Belair, which would have been the case had they had a long match where Belair just lost. Instead, the idea was to have Belair lose so fast, leaving fans to think that Belair was cheated and want to see her get her revenge. Belair will face Lynch and Sasha Banks for the title at Crown Jewel next week.

You Might Have Missed A Unique Feud Continuing This Week On WWE TV

They’re not done yet. There are several stories that can be told in wrestling and some of them involve all kinds of different characters. While there are so many options out there, you can often find something that is not exactly traditional. That seems to be the case again as a Monday Night Raw star is feuding with someone she is highly unlikely to face in the ring.
Last week’s Monday Night Raw saw the beginnings of a feud between broadcaster Corey Graves and Dana Brooke, with Graves trashing Brooke’s in-ring work. Brooke responded on social media, saying that she was not going to pat attention. Brooke was in action again this week, with Graves saying she should ignore him and focus on her in-ring work. The match went the same for Brooke, who lost to Shayna Baszler for the second week in a row.
Brooke has been having a rough time as of late. Check out what she has been doing in the ring:

WATCH: Two New Characters Are Coming Soon To NXT

They’re new. Despite having a huge roster, WWE is one constantly needing to make changes to keep things fresh. Sometimes you need to bring in someone new, or at least give them something different to make things fresh. That can come in a few ways, and that seems to be the case with a pair of wrestlers. This time though, we only know who one of them is.
Vignettes for two wrestlers aired during this week’s NXT. The first saw someone shoveling dirt into a grave and talking about how the old had to die so the new could come. There is no word on who this is, but they are expected to debut at Halloween Havoc. Later, a vignette aired advertising that Solo Sikoa was coming soon. Sikoa is the younger brother of the Usos, who was signed in August. There is no word on when he will debut.
These things could be interesting. Check out the vignettes plus some other NXT debuts:

Two New Titles Matches Set For Halloween Havoc

We’re still growing. NXT is in the middle of some major changes and those are going to continue to take place for the time being. The brand has been completely relaunched and after a few weeks, it is time for their first major show later this month with Halloween Havoc on October 26, meaning the show is going to need to be stacked. It grew quite a bit this week.
Two new titles matches were announced for Halloween Havoc during this week’s edition of NXT. First, Io Shirai and Zoey Stark will defend their NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles against Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin/Jacy Jayne and Indi Hartwell/Persia Pirotta in a triple threat match. Hartwell and Pirotta had issued a challenge but Toxic Attraction interrupted, setting up a brawl which led to the announcement. Second, Toxic Attraction’s Mandy Rose will challenge Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women’s Title. Gonzalez accepted the challenge, but wanted it to take place in a Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal match.
These should work. Check ou..

Surprise Title Change Takes Place To Close NXT

Meet the new one. There are a a fair few titles in NXT and the promotion has done a nice job making them feel important. Some of the titles seem to mean more than others, but someone wearing a belt still has a lot of impact in NXT. That is something that can be quite hard to do but NXT has managed to make it happen. Now they are getting the chance to do it with someone new.
This week’s NXT featured a main event of Isaiah Scott defending the North American Title against Carmelo Hayes. Scott successfully defended the title, but Carmelo Hayes attacked him after the match and cashed in his Breakout Tournament victory for an instant title shot. Hayes went on to win the title, earning his first championship in NXT. The win comes as Scott has been drafted to SmackDown as part of Hit Row.
Hayes is a fresh star. Check out what he can do in the ring:

AEW Adding Extra Hour This Friday With Bryan Danielson In Action

The battle rages on. One of the most interesting stories in wrestling over the last two years has been the battle between WWE and AEW. The two promotions have been fighting it out, including a year and a half long battle on Wednesday nights. WWE’s NXT eventually backed out, leaving AEW as the only game in town on Wednesdays. There are other nights of the week though and now we are going to see another one off battle.
During an interview on WFAN Sports Radio, AEW President Tony Khan announced that AEW will be presenting a special Buy In show this week before Rampage goes on the air. The show will feature a pair of matches, including Bryan Danielson vs. Minoru Suzuki and Bobby Fish vs. Lee Moriarty, as announced by Khan via Twitter. The show will air against the second hour of this week’s WWE SmackDown.
Friday starts a great wrestling weekend with #AEWRampage LIVE 10pm on TNT but first Friday at 9pm ET we go live with The Buy In to preview a HUGE Friday Rampage + Saturday #AEWDynamite!..
