AEW Trio Splits Up As Manager Gets Fired

It was nice while it lasted. A manager can do a lot of things for a wrestler, including giving them someone to do the talking. That can make for a rather lucrative association, as talking and emotions may not be their strong suit. At the same time though, there are times when the association might not make the most sense and something needs to change. That was the case this week.
This week on AEW Dynamite, FTR fired Tully Blanchard as their manager. The incident took place in a backstage segment where FTR talked about wanting to get their hands on the Young Bucks and ReDRagon for the sake of revenge. Blanchard said that they needed to focus on getting the Tag Team Titles back, but FTR spoke about wanting to take care of their families. There is no word on what Blanchard may do next.
Opinion: This is something that is kind of overdue as there was little need for Blanchard to be with the team any longer. He made for a good manager and a cool association, but FTR can talk with the best o..

Longtime AEW Stable Breaks Up, New One Takes Its Place

It can’t last forever. There are a lot of stables in wrestling history and several of them have been nothing short of great. It can be an easy way to get multiple people onto a shot at once and offer a big story at the same time. Sometimes you get something very special, but there is almost always a split for the group as well. That was the case this week, with the biggest stable AEW has ever seen.
This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a segment between Chris Jericho and Eddie Kingston which saw the two of them shaking hands. After the two shook hands, Daniel Garcia and 2.0 came to the ring to attack Kingston. Jericho’s Inner Circle teammates Santana and Ortiz came to the ring but were attacked by Jericho, who turned on the two of them to split up the team. Jake Hager joined Jericho, Garcia and 2.0, with Jericho dubbing the new team the Jericho Appreciation Society. The Inner Circle originally debuted on October 9, 2019, the second week of Dynamite.
Opinion: This is a surprise,..

Bray Wyatt Making First Wrestling Related Appearance In Seven Months

He’s at it again. Every now and then, you see a wrestler come along who catches your attention. There is something about them that makes you pay attention and you cannot take your eyes off of them. That is not something that a promotion should pass up as it means you can go in a lot of different ways. One such name will be making something of a return to wrestling after a long time away.
Windham Rotunda, better known as Bray Wyatt, will be making his first wrestling related appearance at the Showcase of Legends 7 in Albany, New York on Sunday. Rotunda will be taking photos, signing autographs and doing a meet and greet at the convention, which will also include names such as Trish Stratus, Rikishi, Dustin Rhodes, Erick Redbeard and several others. This is Rotunda’s first wrestling appearance since he was released from WWE on July 31, 2021. There is no word on when or where he will be returning to the ring.
Opinion: I’m still not sure what to expect from Rotunda but it is a good sign ..

Title Change Takes Place In AEW Dynamite Main Event

History has been made. Titles have been one of the most important parts of the wrestling world for a long time now and that continues to be the case to this day. A wrestler winning a championship is something anyone can understand with ease and it often makes for a rather exciting moment on any given show. That was the case in the main event of one of this week’s shows.
The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Scorpio Sky defeat Sammy Guevara to become the new TNT Champion. Sky won the match with his TKO when Guevara was distracted by Paige Van Zant attacking his girlfriend Tay Conti at ringside. The win marks Sky’s first singles title reign in AEW and second championship overall, as he was part of the original Tag Team Champions.
Opinion: This is the kind of title change that needed to take place as Sky seems ready to lose the title to Wardlow next week. That is not a bad thing either, as Sky got his win and his title, which are the important things for him in the s..

You’ll Be Seeing More Of Miro In AEW For A Long Time To Come

Stick around for a bit. There are all kinds of wrestling promotions in the world today and most of them continue to fight over as much talent as they can. It means a lot for any promotion to be able to keep a wrestler around, though that can be easier said than done. One of the best ways is to get someone to sign a long term deal and one of the bigger promotions has done just that.
According to Fightful Select, Miro has signed a new contract extension with AEW, which will keep him with the company for another four years. Miro debuted in AEW in September 2020 and is a former TNT Champion, though he has been out of action since November 2021 with a hamstring injury. There is no word on when he will be returning to the ring or what he will be doing when he gets back.
Opinion: This is the kind of move that is a great thing for AEW. Miro is someone who came in and made a big deal, so now he can continue to do that for a long time to come. I want to see how far he can go in AEW, as you do ..

BREAKING: Jeff Hardy Makes AEW Debut

There he is. Wrestlers jump from promotion to promotion fairly frequently these days, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting. It can be a lot of fun to see someone show up in a different company, as you never know what they might be doing. Sometimes it is nearly impossible to hide who is going to be showing up though and that was the case again with the latest debut.
Jeff Hardy made his AEW debut this week on Dynamite, saving his brother Matt, Sting and Darby Allin from an attack at the hands of Andrade El Idolo, Private Party and the Butcher and the Blade. This came three months after Jeff was released from WWE after walking out on a match at a live event. There is no word on what Jeff will be doing now that he is a part of AEW.
Opinion: This isn’t exactly a surprise and that is not a bad thing. Your mileage on the Hardys getting back together again might vary but at least we have gotten to the point and can see their latest reunion. I don’t blame AEW for trying something like t..

Dynamite

Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, Excalibur
We’re fresh off of Revolution and that means it is time to start setting up some new things going forward. Those could start this week so let’s get to it.

Ring Of Honor TV Results – March 2, 2022

Ring Of Honor
Date: March 2, 2022
We have one more Hall of Fame special here and this time we are looking at CM Punk. This is one of the big ones as Punk played such a role in putting Ring of Honor on the map. Between his feuds with Raven and Samoa Joe, plus the Summer of Punk, there is a lot to pick from here and that makes things all the more fun. Let’s get to it.
We open with Punk’s Hall of Fame video, including a look at straightedge, plus the highlights of his Ring of Honor career.
From Death Before Dishonor III on June 18, 2005.
Ring of Honor World Title: CM Punk vs. Austin Aries Aries is defending and drives Punk up against the ropes off a lockup. With that not going anywhere, they fight over a series of standing switches until Punk backs him into the corner for a break. Aries is back up with a middle rope elbow to the face before grinding away on a headlock. Punk reverses to a headscissors to work on Aries’ bad neck, allowing commentary to talk about all of the great things..

KB’s Review: The WrestleMania Dead End

As you can tell by watching any WWE show these days (or by knowing your WWE calendar), it is WrestleMania season as we are less than a month away from the biggest show (Or is it shows now?) of the year. WWE knows how to make these things feel special once you get there, as there is really nothing like it in all of wrestling. That being said, there are more than a few things on the Road To WrestleMania that might leave you a bit confused and that was on full display this week.
The last few editions of Monday Night Raw have featured some version of one of the most annoying concepts in all of WWE: the path to WrestleMania. While WWE has the Road To WrestleMania, we also get to hear about wrestlers’ individual paths to the show, meaning they need a way to guarantee that they will have a spot on the WrestleMania card (er, cards). This is something that makes sense in theory, but there is one problem with the idea: it stops making any sense if you think about the concept for more than 2.4 s..

Here’s (Probably) Why Steve Austin Isn’t Wrestling Again

He wasn’t pleased. With WrestleMania 38 taking place in the massive AT&T Stadium over two nights, WWE is going to need everything they can find to make the show work. That is going to be easier said than done, as any company would have trouble coming up with something big enough to fill in a stadium on back to back days. WWE seemed to have an idea, but it didn’t wind up going through. Now we might know why.
During the latest edition of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross discussed Steve Austin’s possible return to the ring at WrestleMania 38. Ross said that he had spoken to Austin, saying that Austin did not sound overwhelmingly enthusiastic about the idea. While Ross did not know for sure what Austin would do, he did not thing Austin would return to the ring as Austin is too much of a perfectionist to wrestle again on such short notice. Austin has agreed to appear at WrestleMania, but as a guest on the Kevin Owens Show rather than having an official match.
Here are some of Ross’ comme..

New Update On Cody Rhodes’ Wrestling Future

He’s one of the hot topics. Wrestlers move around from one promotion to another fairly frequently and it can be rather interesting when you see someone show up. There are times where it is a surprise but often the news leaks out in advance. The current situation is somewhere in between, but now we might be waiting even longer than we had expected to have to.
Earlier this year, Cody Rhodes unexpectedly left AEW, despite being an Executive Vice President with the company. According to Fightful Select, Rhodes is aware of the discussions around his future but he has been hoping to cool down the rumors about where he is going. WWE has not been specifically told that he is coming in and there is “uncertainty” about it in WWE creative. It is not clear when Rhodes will announce his future plans.
Opinion: I’m not sure what Rhodes is going to do, but I’m also not sure how much buzz he is going to be able to maintain. Rhodes was a star in AEW, but he wasn’t exactly popular when he left. Maybe t..

AEW Made Several Changes To Revolution Title Match Ending

You need to get it right. Most wrestling shows air once a week, which is often enough to keep their storylines moving forward. In theory, those shows are designed to build up to another show down the line which is big enough that people will pay to see it. That is still how wrestling works today and in theory, a promotion is going to give you their best results possible. That might take some effort, and that was the case last weekend.
Earlier this month, AEW presented its annual Revolution pay per view. One of the matches on the card featured AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker retaining the title over Thunder Rosa. According to Fightful Select, the ending of the match, which ultimately saw Baker win after interfered, was changed several times throughout the week. There is no word on why the changes were made, but AEW seems to be setting up a rematch between the two on March 16 in Rosa’s hometown of San Antonio.
Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise, but it isn’t something you often ..
