KB’s Review: Anything CAN Happen

So I grew up as a WWF fan, as I’m sure a lot of fans today did. That means I’m going to remember a lot of the sayings and phrases that were used over and over again on WWF television. One that has been coming to mind more and more over the last few days has been “anything can happen”, though the “in the World Wrestling Federation” part doesn’t apply so much this time. That’s a very good thing in this case.
WrestleMania Weekend has come and gone and my goodness it was another packed edition. There were so many things going on both in and out of WWE that it’s almost hard to keep track of everything (though that is what I try to do). What made things interesting though is that it felt like we were seeing things that I actually wouldn’t have believed possible, and that is where the fun came in.
One of the recurring themes of this weekend was seeing things that you probably didn’t expect but it was going on right in front of your eyes. That is the kind of thing that makes things all the b..

REVIEW: NXT Stand & Deliver 2022: Mostly On The Second Part

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

Somehow this is NXT’s first time on the road in over two years. It might not be Takeover, but it is one of NXT’s rare big shows and the card could look worse. NXT hasn’t had the chance to do something like this very often and at some point you need to just let them go out there and do their thing in front of a lot of people. Let’s get to it.
I was in attendance for this show, sitting i..

WWE Planning On Roman Reigns Heading To Hollywood

They might need to get ready. Wrestlers are in a weird place when it comes to acting. While they are playing characters and reading a script, they are going to be seen as wrestlers almost no matter what they do. Sometimes they move outside of the wrestling world and get somewhere in acting, and now WWE seems to be making preparations before one of its biggest stars might head to Tinseltown.
WWE President Nick Khan appeared on the Town podcast and discussed the possibility of Roman Reigns getting into acting. The company is hoping to help Reigns cross over into Hollywood though Khan did not specify how. Khan cited the Rock, Steve Austin and John Cena as wrestlers who play themselves in WWE and have done well in acting. Reigns appeared with the Rock in Hobbs and Shaw in 2019.
Opinion: This is one of those things that you hear a lot about in wrestling but it doesn’t always work. Austin tried to get into acting and never really got anywhere. Cena is certainly an established name, but he ..

How WWE Reportedly Changed Plans For A Recent Title Change

That was different. WrestleMania 38 weekend has come and gone and there was a lot taking place in WWE. In addition to the namesake WrestleMania pay per view, there was also a stand alone NXT event, plus Monday Night Raw. While these two shows rarely have anything in common, that was the case this week, and now we know something more about how fast things changed.
On Saturday, Dolph Ziggler retained the NXT Title over Bron Breakker at Stand & Deliver. Two days later, Breakker took the title from Ziggler in a match not announced until the night of the show. According to Wrestling Observer Live, the original plans called for Ziggler to hold the title for “awhile”, with a commercial airing during Monday Night Raw advertising Ziggler as champion. While not confirmed, the theory was that Breakker was to be called up to the main roster but then WWE changed their minds.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that WWE tends to do time after time, which doesn’t exactly make things that much better..

Two More NXT Names Possibly Being Called Up To The Main Roster

Come on up? NXT is in a weird place in the wrestling world as they have to find a way to balance out being its own show and WWE developmental. In some way is a good thing to see wrestlers leaving NXT for greener pastures but that can be a big hit to NXT every time. Now that might be the case again but even worse than usual as WWE might be calling up two names.
According to Fightful Select, WWE is considering calling up LA Knight and Raquel Gonzalez. Knight is considered less of a likelihood, though there is a chance that he could be called up as a manager due to his talking abilities. Gonzalez has been expected to be called up for several months now. She and Dakota Kai lost the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles to Toxic Attraction earlier this week. Knight did not appear on the show.
Opinion: I don’t think either of these is a surprise as Gonzalez and Knight both seem to have been ready for the main roster for a LONG time now. They both look like main roster stars and aren’t going to get m..

NXT Results – April 5, 2022

NXT

We’re done with Stand & Deliver and while a lot of things happened at the show, the bigger story came on Raw, as Bron Breakker defeated Dolph Ziggler to retain the NXT Title. That should open up a few new doors in the main event scene and I’m curious to see which one they take first. Let’s get to it.
We open with a long recap of Stand & Deliver, plus Bron Breakker getting the title back last night on Raw.
Here is Breakker to get things going. After waiting out some WE WANT ZIGGLER/NO WE DON’T chants, Breakker talks about the things that he got to do over the weekend. He went to Wrestlemania for the first time and got to see some of the biggest stars. It made him realize that he was going to headline Wrestlemania one day, but also that he wasn’t going to let Dolph Ziggler leave Dallas with OUR NXT Title.
Now the title is home…and here is Imperium to interrupt. Gunther ..

Sasha Banks Wants To Wrestle On Another Planet

You want this where? Wrestling has been around for a very long time now and there have been a lot of matches that might not be the most traditional. Sometimes you see a match that goes against the grain, with the wrestlers in another location besides the arena, or even a ring. Those can make some rather interesting moments, and now one current star has a really big idea.
Sasha Banks was a guest on Logan Paul Impaulsive podcast and said that she wants to bring wrestling to another planet. Banks said that she wants to go to another planet and have a match there, specifying that she wants to go to Mars rather than the moon. She asked why not try to be like Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk and bring wrestling to another planet. Banks is currently one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions with Naomi, having won the titles at WrestleMania 38 on Sunday.
There is a lot here. Check out the podcast, which also includes an interview with Becky Lynch:

WWE Hall Of Famer Returning To Monday Night Raw Next Week

Welcome back? There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and some of them are among the biggest names in wrestling history. If you have been watching WWE for any length of time, you know that there are some names which have made a lot of history in the company. Some of them have even made an impact even outside of WWE and another one of those names will be back soon.
This week on Raw Talk, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler announced that he will be filling in on Monday Night Raw commentary next week. Regular broadcaster Corey Graves and Monday Night Raw star Carmella will be getting married later this week and will be on his honeymoon next week. This will be a one off appearance for Lawler, who has been done commentary on and off for thirty years.
Opinion: Lawler is one of those names that can be hit or miss, as you never know what version you are going to get. If he is being his evil self, you can get something more interesting but if he is being his not very funny self, it might m..

Report: Tammy Sytch Caused Fatal Car Crash, DUI Suspected

According to multiple reports, WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch, also known as Sunny, caused a car crash last month in which a 75-year-old man died. Police suspect that she was intoxicated during the incident.
The Ormand Police Department has released new information which claims that Sytch was driving a 2012 Mercedes when she crashed into the rear of a 2013 Kia Sorento that had been stopped at a stoplight. The Kia then crashed into the back of a 2011 GMC Yukon that was also stopped at the stoplight.
Two witnesses stated that Sytch had been “driving at a high rate of speed” before hitting the Kia. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died from injuries suffered in the wreck. The officers say Sytch was also transported to the same hospital with unknown injuries.
Police say they believed Sytch was under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred. Authorities took a blood sample after the accident, but the results are still pending.
Sunny’s legal troubles have ..

WWE Possibly Splitting Up NXT Stable And Moving Promoting Some Members

Don’t get attached to them. NXT is in a weird place as the promotion is designed to be both its own thing as well as WWE’s official developmental promotion. As a result, the show has to find a way to balance out both its present and future, which can mean wrestlers leaving at the drop of a hat. That might be the case again with a good chunk of a current stable who hasn’t been around very long.
According to Fightful Select, WWE is considering bring Marcel Barthel and Gunther of the Imperium stable up to the main roster. This comes after Fabian Aichner walked away from Barthel in a tag match and Gunther lost an NXT Title match this week on NXT. There is no word on when such a promotion might take place or what it means for Aichner’s future, either in NXT or WWE.
Opinion: I don’t think Gunther coming up to the main roster is any kind of a surprise as he has been ready for a main event level spot for the better part of ever. What has me a bit confused is Barthel coming up without Aichner..

AEW Star Injured During Dark: Elevation Taping

That’s never good to see. An injury can take a wrestler out of action at any time and that can make for some scary situations. You never know when you are going to see someone get hurt and be put out of action for a long time, but the best you can do is hope that things are not bad. That seems to be the case again, as a wrestler was injured during a match this week.
According to the Wrestling Observer Twitter account, AEW’s Leyla Hirsch suffered a knee injury during the opening match of this week’s AEW Dark: Elevation taping. The match was immediately stopped and Hirsch was helped to the back. There is no word on the severity of Hirsch’s injury or how long she might be out of action. Hirsch has been part of AEW since October 2020.

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – April 6, 2022

Dynamite
Date: April 6, 2022
Location: Agganis Arena, Boston, Massachusetts
Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, Excalibur
It’s pretty rare to have a lot of things going on when a company hasn’t had a major show, but that is the case this week. Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor event was basically AEW’s Wrestlemania weekend show and included the debut of Samoa Joe. He’ll be here tonight, and that means things could get a lot more interesting. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Adam Cole vs. Christian Cage They stare at each other for a bit until Christian grabs a headlock to grind away a bit. Cole breaks that up and sends him into the corner to take over. Christian knocks him outside though and it’s a baseball slide out to the floor. That means some chops up against the barricade but Christian’s foot gets caught in the ropes, allowing Cole to take over again. A hard whip into the corner rocks Christian and we take a break.
Back with Christian knocking him to the floor again and..
