It’s a gig. Wrestlers are often compared to actors and the comparison makes some sense. While wrestlers are athletes, they are in pre-determined situations that can be seen as a performance. However, wrestlers do not always have the best luck when it comes to transitioning into acting. You do see it happen every now and then though, and now a top star is going to be trying his hand at another acting role.

According to Deadline.com, AEW’s Chris Jericho has landed a new movie role in a wrestling themed horror film called “Dark Match”. The film, executive produced by Jericho, has already wrapped filming and tells the story of a small wrestling promotion that has to deal with a cult and its mysterious leader. There is no word on when or where the film will be released.

He may be around. There are a lot of talented stars on the AEW roster and some of them have been around since the beginning. As good as the original crop of wrestlers were, there is also the need to bring in fresh stars. AEW has done that multiple times over the years, and now they are doing it again with a star that you might have seen wrestling in another prominent place.

Earlier this month, Trent Seven made his AEW debut as a surprise challenger for Orange Cassidy’s All-Atlantic Title. Seven has gone on to make additional appearances, including this week on Rampage. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Seven is appearing on a per appearance deal rather than on a full time contract. There is no word on how many dates he is set for in the future.

Hold on a second. WWE is a huge wrestling company and does what it can to take care of its wrestlers. This includes a full medical staff to take care of various issues, but there are other instances where additional help is needed. Occasionally WWE will send wrestlers to get help outside of the company and that seemed to be the case with one of its stars. That just might not be what happened though.

Earlier this month, a report surfaced saying that Matt Riddle had been sent to rehab following a second failed drug test. The Wrestling Observer reports that this is not the case though, as Riddle’s situation violates the WWE Wellness Policy. Riddle’s first positive test resulted would have likely resulted in a thirty day suspension (as per WWE’s policy), but he did not wrestle from July 25 until August 20, which is less than thirty days.

He’s back. WWE has several tools at its disposal, with one of the most valuable being the NXT developmental system. NXT allows WWE stars to be built up on the job, which is more than almost any other promotion can offer. It can mean a lot to have a WWE star come up through the NXT system and now an eye catching star is going to be able to return to the ring after a hiatus.

NXT’s Quincy Elliott has announced that he has been medically cleared to return to the ring, though he did not say when he would be wrestling again. He has been out of action since the October 18 edition of NXT and it is not clear what kind of injury has kept him on the shelf. Elliott, the self described Super Diva, made his NXT debut in March and co-hosted Halloween Havoc with Shotzi.

Run it back? An injury is one of the worst things that you can see in wrestling as you never want to see someone put on the shelf for any amount of time. Another problem is losing the momentum a feud or storyline may have, as everything has to be stopped. That was the case earlier this year, but now we might have an idea of where things are going when an injured WWE star returns.

Cody Rhodes returned to WWE earlier this year at WrestleMania 37, where he defeated Seth Rollins. Rhodes went on to defeat Rollins again at WrestleMania Backlash, with a third match set for Hell In A Cell. Before the match, Rhodes would tear his pectoral muscle, only to go on and defeat Rollins in the match anyway. The original plan. We are in the middle of the holiday season and that means things can go a little bit different in WWE. This includes taping some shows in advance so the wrestlers can have a bit of time off. WWE did just that this week as they taped a pair of SmackDowns on the same night. However, things were not quite as they were planned, with one wrestler missing the event.

It’s time for another of the annual holiday specials, though in this case this was tacked on after a TV taping over a month ago. These shows are basically short form house shows with a healthy dose of “WE LOVE THE TROOPS” thrown in. There are almost no expectations for one of them as a result so let’s get to it.
We get the presentation of the colors and Star Spangled Banner, led by someone who sang it at the 2009 Tribute To The Troops.
The opening video looks at the history of Tribute To The Troops, featuring several clips from the original shows and not so many from the recent editions.
Braun Strowman vs. LA Knight Strowman throws him around to start but misses a charge into the corner. Knight goes after the knee but Strowman shrugs it off. The Monsterbomb finishes Knight at 2:05.

Raquel Rodriguez won a gauntlet match to become the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s title. Xia Li beat Emma and Tegan Nox. Raquel defeated Li, Liv Morgan, and Sonya Deville to win the match. Shayna Baszler came out as a surprise entrant, but Rodriguez defeated her as well. Bray Wyatt came out and said that LA Knight owes him an apology. He ends up attacking the camera man. Rey Mysterio defeated Angel of Los Lotharios. Karrion Kross and Scarlett were watching in the crowd. Roman Reigns and the rest of The Bloodline came out for a promo. Solo Sikoa vs. Sheamus was added to the December 30 show in Tampa. During the promo, Zayn said that Kevin Owens was like a black cloud that is still following him. The Usos defeated Hit Row to retain the WWE Undisputed Tag Team titles. We’re almost done with the year and the interesting point here came from Tony Khan, who promised to put in some more effort on this show. I’m not sure what that is going to mean, but the card certainly does look to be a bit bigger than usual. That might not last beyond a week or two, but I’ll take what I can get. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Jon Moxley vs. Sammy Guevara Tay Melo is here too. Guevara knees him in the face to start and bites away in the corner. That earns Guevara a clothesline to the floor as we see Daniel Garcia, now under Guevara’s tutelage, watching in the back. Moxley is happy with fighting outside and loads up a chair, only to be sent back inside. That’s fine with Moxley, who grabs a jumping cutter into a superplex for two.
Guevara manages to backflip over him though and hits a dropkick out to the floor. A hard stomp on the apro..

He has an idea. There are some great wrestling stars who are no longer active wrestlers. That does not mean their careers are over though, as there are other roles that they can fill once their in-ring career is over. However, there are still some moments where an ex-wrestler is the perfect choice to put back in the ring, and now one legend thinks that might be the right move.

The end of this week’s Monday Night Raw featured Bobby Lashley shoving a referee who he blamed for a loss to Seth Rollins. As a result, WWE executive Adam Pearce came to the ring and fired Lashley, only to reinstate him the next day. During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley suggested that Pearce could face Lashley in a match. During a new interview with Wrestlinginc.com, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Duggan revealed that a man broke into his home on December 8 at around 6:45pm, armed with a gun. Duggan took the man down and took the gun from him, holding him at gunpoint until the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department arrived to arrest the man.
