He’ll be back? The rise of AEW has changed the way the wrestling landscape as there is now a new major promotion where top stars can go. After decades of WWE dominance, AEW offers a brand new place for wrestlers to try their hand on a big stage. Several WWE stars have already made the jump, but now another one may be considering a return somewhere down the road.

Former WWE star CJ Perry, better known as Lana, appeared on the Mike Wennmacher Show and talked about her husband, AEW star Miro, who wrestled in WWE as Rusev. Perry said she believed Miro would return to WWE one day, saying that “Rusev Day will never die.” She went on to say that no matter what name or gimmick or character Miro is given, it would wind up being iconic. Perry wrapped it up by saying everyone returned to WWE at some point.

He’s done. Retirement is a tricky subject for wrestlers as it can be hard to hang up their boots for the final time. While more mainstream athletes have to complete one more season, wrestlers are able to go out and have one more match at almost anytime they want. That makes officially retiring harder than it seems, but one legend seems pretty sure he is out.

During a recent appearance on the Culture State podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels was asked if he would be coming out of retirement for one more match. Michaels flat out said that he was done, saying “I’ve had that final match” and that he was happy with his career and wanted to see the next generation get their chance. Michaels, 57 years old, last wrestled at Crown Jewel 2018, ending an eight year retirement. He now runs the NXT developmental program for WWE.

He’s kind of a big deal. There are certain stars who have reached the very top level in WWE history. You do not get to see very many wrestlers become the face of the company, but those who are have become household names in WWE. Now one of the stars is making a special return for what seems to be one night only, but he is already making one heck of an impact.

Last week on SmackDown, a match was announced for the December 30 episode, featuring Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn teaming up to face Kevin Owens and John Cena. This will mark Cena’s first match with the company since Summerslam 2021 last August. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the show, set for the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, has sold an additional 4,000 tickets since Cena was announced. There is no word on how many tickets had been sold before the Cena announcement.

Welcome back. There have been a lot of changes to the WWE roster this year as several wrestlers have been brought back to the company after lengthy absences. This has mainly been due to the change in regime, as Triple H now has a major hand in running the company. That means many names Triple H championed in NXT are back, and now another seems ready to join the list.

According to a PWInsider.com Q&A, Eric Young is not only on the way back to WWE but is expected to return at some point in 2023. Young, 43, wrestled in WWE from 2016-2020, becoming an NXT Tag Team Champion. Since leaving, Young returned to Impact Wrestling and won the World Title for the second time. While there has been speculation that Young could portray Bray Wyatt’s Uncle Howdy, there is no word on that specifically be the case. She would work. In about a month, WWE will present its annual Royal Rumble event. As always, this will be one of the trickiest shows of the year, as it will feature a pair of Royal Rumble matches. With a total of sixth wrestlers between the two of them, those matches are going to require all hands on deck. Now a legend is offering her services if she is needed for the match.

During a live signing for K&S Wrestlefest, WWE Hall of Famer Molly Holly said that she has told WWE Creative that she can be in the Women’s Royal Rumble if needed. However, she asked for some advance notice as she would be going from inactive as a wrestler to needing to be ready to go. Thus far, Holly has not received any such notice, though there is still a chance this could change. Holly has competed in three of the five women’s Royal Rumbles in history.

It’s something for them. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and it can be difficult for the company to find something for all of them to do. One of the best things that WWE has done is split its roster into three different groups. This includes the NXT developmental roster, whose primary goal is to be promoted up to the main roster. Several of them have been getting a bit of a preview lately and it is going well.

We’re still in front of one of those crazy Texas crowds and in this case there is a rather unique match. This time around we are having a Casino Trios Battle Royal, with the winning team splitting $300,000. That should be enough to make things interesting, and seems to be the big focal point this week. Let’s get to it.

Three Kings Christmas Casino Battle Royal
So this is a nine team Casino Battle Royal (basically the Royal Rumble) for $300,000 and all three members of the team have to be eliminated. We start with the Best Friends/Orange Cassidy, La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush/Preston Vance/Kalistico) and Butcher and the Blade/Kip Sabian. Triple brawls break out in various corners until the Best Friends and Cassidy are kicked into the middle of the ring for the Big Hug.

In some cases, wrestlers who have wrestled elsewhere for years are getting a chance to show their skills to the masses. Now one such wrestler, plus two younger stars, are getting quite another reward to go with what they have already earned.

This week’s edition of AEW Rampage featured a Three Kings Christmas Casino Battle Royal with the winning team winning $300,000. The team of AR Fox and Top Flight won the battle royal and the money, last eliminating the Blackpool Combat Club to win. Fox was signed to AEW last month, following a several years long career on the independent circuit. Top Flight has teamed in AEW for over a year, thoguh both members have missed several months each due to injuries.

That’s a different way to go. Wrestlers are very talented stars as they have to put in a lot of effort to get as far as they do in their careers. You can see when someone becomes a star in the ring, but many of them have other careers or interests as well. Now a WWE Hall of Famer is telling a story about how he was not allowed to pursue another career, at least in one instance.

During a recent edition of his Kliq This, WWE Hall Of Famer Kevin Nash revealed that he had read for a role in the 1995 movie Striptease. Nash said that he “nailed it” and the producers were interested in using him, but Vince McMahon would not allow him to miss that much time. The role eventually went to Ving Rhames. Nash has dabbled in acting, both before and after his in-ring career ended.

He has a future. There are a lot of talented stars on the WWE roster and it can be easy for some of them to get lost in the shuffle. At the same time, it can be difficult for someone to stand out, but talent has a tendency to rise to the top. You know a star when you see one and now another star has let us know some things about their current contract status, as well as their future.

WWE’s Kevin Owens appeared on the Ringer Wrestling Show podcast and discussed his current contract status with the company. Owens revealed that he has two years left on his current deal and he cannot see a reason to not re-sign when his deal is up.
