Impact Wrestling Results – March 22, 2019

Impact Wrestling
Date: March 22, 2019
Location: Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, Nevada
Commentators: Don Callis, Josh Matthews
It’s title time as Rich Swann defends the X-Division Title against Sami Callihan, who is ticked off over Swann turning down the chance to join OVE. Other than that we’re likely to get some fallout from Johnny Impact turning heel last week, which is probably best for everyone. Let’s get to it.
The opening recap looks at everything going on around here, including Moose beating up the Rascalz, Jordynne Grace becoming #1 contender and the World Title situation.
Opening sequence.
Moose vs. Trey Miguel Fallout from the Rascalz making fun of their clothes and not getting anywhere with Melissa Santos. Miguel goes for the legs to start and actually pulls off a hurricanrana. Moose gets sent to the floor a few times but a suicide dive won’t even put him off his feet. The second attempt is countered into a release apron bomb but Trey slips out of another o..

Video: Injured Superstar Back In The Ring

Welcome back. You never know how injuries are going to work in wrestling. Sometimes these things aren’t as bad as others, but there are some things that keep wrestlers out of the ring for a very long time. That seems to have been the case with one of the more high profile wrestlers on the Monday Night Raw roster, but an update over the weekend seems to offer some good news.
According to Wrestlinginc.com, Alexa Bliss worked a match at a house show last night last night. Bliss was hosting her Moment of Bliss segment with Natalya when Lacey Evans interrupted and attacked. Nikki Cross made the save, setting up a tag match where Natalya made Bliss tap to the Sharpshooter. Bliss has been out of the ring for a long time, with only two televised matches since October. There is no word on when she will be back in the ring on Monday Night Raw.
This has happened more than once lately. Check out Bliss getting in the ring earlier this month in Toronto:

WWE In Talks To Bring In Major Names For WrestleMania 35 (Yes This Could Happen)

Ok that’s a big deal. WrestleMania 35 is the biggest show of the year and WWE already has a lot of big stuff planned. They have a ton of matches to get through and it’s not even clear if all the champions are going to be wrestling. Since it’s WWE though, they have a lot of other stuff planned as well. This includes the traditional legends moments and WWE might have something major planned.
According to PWInsider.com by way of 411mania.com, WWE is bringing in Hulk Hogan for some undetermined WrestleMania role. This would be Hogan’s first WrestleMania appearance since WrestleMania 31. In addition to this, WWE is considering bringing in Steve Austin, who hasn’t appeared on the show since WrestleMania 32. Hogan’s most recent appearance was at Crown Jewel in November, while Austin last appeared at Raw 25 in January 2018.
They’ve done something like this before, albeit with a bonus. Check out this behind the scenes clip before one of the coolest moments ever:

Jim Ross Reveals That He Is In Talks With AEW

You had to figure that this was coming eventually. It had been previously reported that Jim Ross will not be re-signing with WWE when his contract expires on March 29. But what will he be up to after that?
He appeared on Outside The Lines recently to discuss this topic. It was there that he said that he has been in talks with AEW about joining their brand:
“I don’t know, we’re talking. I just haven’t signed anything yet. My people and their people are doing their thing. The only agent I grew up knowing was a State Farm agent in Oklahoma, I got a real agent now, man. So, they’re working on it. I’d like to get into some voice-over work, I’d like to do some… I wouldn’t mind having a radio gig doing college football.”

There Is A Chance. This Dream Match Could Still Take Place.

So you’re saying there’s a chance. The Monday Night Wars were one of the most exciting times in the history of professional wrestling. The battle between Monday Night Raw and Monday Nitro became a war among the fans over which company was better. That often meant a comparison of the rosters, with various dream matches being discussed. One of them never came to fruition, but it might not be dead just yet.
Sting was a guest at the Liverpool Comic-Con earlier this month and was asked if he would ever come out of retirement. Sting said that he would, though the only possible way would be for a match against the Undertaker. He said that he was hoping for the match to happen during his run with the company in 2015 but the schedules just didn’t click. At the same time though, Sting says that he does not regret the match never happening. Sting officially retired in 2016 after wrestling a handful of matches for WWE. There is no word on if WWE or Undertaker has any interest in the match taking ..

Rumor: WWE Considering Changing Kurt Angle’s Retirement Match?

This is only a rumor, so take it for what it’s worth. It had been previously reported that Baron Corbin will be Kurt Angle’s opponent for the final match of his career at Wrestlemania 35.
However, according to a new report from WrestleVotes, that match may not end up being the case:
From a source: Angle vs Corbin is being “reconsidered”. WWE did not expect this type of negative reaction, and thus, they don’t want such a negative feel to Kurt’s final contest.

Editor’s Opinion:
From a storyline standpoint, it make sense for Angle to challenge Corbin. The Lone Wolf has been a thorn in The Olympic Gold Medalist’s side since becoming the Constable of Raw, and they h..

Former Impact Knockouts Champion Signs With AEW

Another one is jumping on board. In the latest episode of AEW’s series “Road to Double or Nothing,” it was announced that former Impact Knockouts champion Allie has signed with the company.
You can see the video in its entirety below:

Allie joined impact in 2013, and has been with the company off and on for 6 years. She had the following to say about joining AEW:
“Going forward, I really want to make my mark here at AEW,” Allie said. “I feel like even though I’ve had those opportunities, I feel like now I really want to show people what I can do and I don’t know if I had that chance before.”
[h/t to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription]
She’s recently been portraying an demonic type gimmick; you can see a clip of that below:

Editor’s Opinion:
I’ve watched Allie a couple of times in Impact and I believe that she is a very talented performer. She is a good actress and can move well in the ring;..

Rumor: They Have A Plan. WWE Is Working On Controlling Size Of WrestleMania Card, Which Matches Might Not Make It?

Not so long my friend. One of the biggest discussions of the entire WrestleMania season has been how long the show is going to be. With a possible seventeen match card, some fans are a bit worried about the show being longer than it ever has before, even with the two hour Kickoff Show. As it turns out, the fans aren’t the only people who have noticed, as WWE has their eye on the problem.
According to Rajah.com’s Twitter, WWE is trying to keep the WrestleMania card at thirteen to fourteen matches instead of the rumored seventeen. At the moment, the matches that could be dropped from the card are the Raw Tag Team Titles, the SmackDown Tag Team Titles and the Intercontinental Title. None of these matches have been announced yet, though with four television shows to go, there is a chance for any or all of them to be announced.
Some WrestleMania notes:
– Was told that Brutus Beefcake is still scheduled to be inducted into HOF
– Corey Graves and Renee Young hosting HOF instead of Lawler

Rumor: This NXT Star Is Likely Moving Up To The Main Roster After WrestleMania

Another one for the big show. With WrestleMania season in full swing and the biggest show of the year in just over two weeks, it’s time to look a little bit beyond what is already taking place on the main roster. In addition to everything going on with WrestleMania 35 itself, there are also the shows that come after it, meaning a lot of names are going to be moving up to the main roster, possibly including one in particular.
According to Wrestlingnews.com by way of Ringsidenews.com, current NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler is being considered for a main roster callup after WrestleMania 35. Baszler is currently scheduled to defend her title in a fatal fourway at Takeover: New York. There is also a possibility that Baszler could be called up without dropping the title, which has been done before.
It’s easy to see why WWE would want Baszler on the main roster. Check out one of her better matches from NXT:

Ring Of Honor TV Results – March 20, 2019

Ring of Honor
Date: March 20, 2019
Location: RP Funding Center, Lakeland, Florida
Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana
It’s time for things to get a little weird as we have the post-pay per view show taped before the pay per view, meaning we won’t be getting any kind of fallout. In other words, it’s going to be all about the wrestling and I’m not sure what that’s going to include. Hopefully they have something good here so let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Shinobi Shadow Squad vs. Silas Young/Briscoes Eli Isom and Jay start things off with Eli actually taking over for all of two seconds off a front facelock. A kick to the ribs cuts him down though and it’s off to Mark as the announcers tease spoiling a pay per view that hasn’t happened yet. Cheeseburger comes in and gets clotheslined as we take a break.
Back with Young clotheslining Burger as well before handing it off to Mark for a camel clutch. A missed charge lets Burger roll away a few times and the hot tag brings in Isom ..

The tournament concludes tonight and we’re going to have a new Wrestlemania match set. This wee will see Cedric Alexander vs. Tony Nese for the right to challenge Buddy Murphy for the Cruiserweight Title in a match that totally won’t be on the Kickoff Show. Other than that, Mike Kanellis is running out of chances to prove himself worthy of being on the 205 Live roster. Let’s get to it.
Drake Maverick recaps the tournament before tonight’s final.
Opening sequence.
Here are the Kanellises for a chat before Mike’s (now with no hair) match. Maria says he’s the greatest wrestler in the world and better than the best. Mike is about to prove everyone wrong, including whoever his opponent is.
Mike Kanellis vs. Akira Tozawa Tozawa is a mystery opponent. Mike grabs the arm and is immediately driven into a rope for the break. An aggressive fight ove..
