New Title Match Set For NXT Takeover: XXX

The card needs to be built. We are less than three weeks away from Takeover: XXX and the card is going to be a big one. The key phrase there is going to be as a lot of the show has not yet been announced. There is still time to set things up though, with NXT knowing very well how to do just that in a hurry. That was the case this week, as a title match was added to the show.
The NXT women’s division has been a big deal for a long time but it is going through a bit of a transitional phase. After Charlotte popped up to take the title from Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 36 and then dropped it to Io Shirai, things have been shaken up a bit. We are starting to see things settle back down, but Shirai could use another win to establish herself as champion. She will have that chance at Takeover.
This week on NXT, Dakota Kai defeated Ripley to become the new #1 contender to the NXT Women’s Title, with her title shot coming against Shirai at Takeover: XXX. Kai defeated Ripley after interference f..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – August 5, 2020

Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida

It’s time for another big themed show with Super Wednesday, and in this case that means more Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho. This time around it’s in the form of a debate, with a special moderator. Other than that we have the World Title on the line as Jon Moxley defends against Darby Allin. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Dark Order/Colt Cabana vs. Young Bucks/FTR/Kenny Omega/Hangman Page They restart very fast with everyone already in the ring and Matt springboarding at Lee. 9 comes in and goes up top, only to be taken down by Nick again. FTR starts working on 9’s arm and it’s off to Omega to do the same as JR accuses Tony of staring at Anna Jay near commentary. The Kitaro Crusher hits 9 for two and Uno/Stu Grayson come in for the save and knock everyone off the apron. FTR come in for the save and it’s a triple suplex to put a lot of the Order down. We sett..

Who NXT Thinks Is Its “Next Big Thing”

That’s a good place to be. There are a lot of people in the wrestling world but not all of them got there in the same way. With so many other sports out there, wrestling would be smart to try and see where they could draw from. A lot of football players make their way into wrestling, but that is not the only way to go. Another athlete from another sport has made his way to WWE, and he might be doing rather well.
NXT UK has become one of the better proving grounds for the main NXT roster as the stars are able to go out there and showcase their talents. There are a lot of talented wrestlers in the United Kingdom and some of their backgrounds are from different sports. That is the case with someone heading to regular NXT and WWE certainly seems to be rather impressed so far.
According to Wrestling Observer Live, Ridge Holland is seen as the next big thing in NXT. Holland is a former rugby league player who has wrestled both in NXT and NXT UK under both the names Holland and Luke Menzies..

Marty Jannetty May Have Admitted To Murder On Social Media

You have to be careful about what you put out there. Marty Jannetty has had an odd presence in the world over the last few years; a few years ago he asked if it was OK to have sex with someone that wasn’t her biological daughter after it was proved that she wasn’t by a DNA test.
In his latest escapade, he may have just done something worse.
According to a report from SB Nation, Jannetty may have admitted to committing a murder when he was 13 years old. In a post that has since now been deleted, he alleges that he was targeted by a man when he was 13 years old, who he believed was going to sexually assault him. Jannetty then killed the man, and dumped his body in the Chattahoochie River, presumably in, or near Columbus, Georgia.
Below is an image of the post. Note that there is inappropriate language, and a homophobic slur was edited out of the original by SB Nation:

Check out Jannetty’s most famous moment in professional wrestling:

We will continue to monitor this story and prov..

Things are getting interesting around here again as the road to All Out is getting bigger and bigger. The most important thing we seem likely to be seeing is Maxwell Jacob Friedman challenging Jon Moxley for the World Title. I’m not sure how much we will be seeing of that round here, but at least they seem to have a goal in mind about a month out. Let’s get to it.
Tony and Taz give the usual quick preview.
Will Hobbs vs. Scorpio Sky Hobbs jumps him in the corner to start and hits a spinebuster for two. Sky slips out of a powerslam though and hits a running kick to the back of the head in the corner. The TKO gives Sky the pin at 1:15.
Result: Scorpio Sky b. Will Hobbs – TKO (1:15)
Post match Sky puts a chair in the ring and calls it symbolic. Lately, people have been calling him the king of AEW..

KB’s Review: A Tale Of Two Vacations

It’s that time of year again. You know the one I mean. Ok maybe you don’t because that could mean a lot of different things. I’m talking about the time of year again when WWE makes it very obvious that they do not care what is going on with their television shows and more or less says we’ll see you when it’s time for Summerslam. I don’t know why I’m surprised by this, but it doesn’t make it any less annoying.
There is no secret to the fact that WWE does not try its hardest every single week. You can feel when they turn on the jets and it makes their television shows that much more interesting at the drop of a hat. It can be so frustrating to see the effort suddenly being there, but at the same time I can understand that they can’t go full blast every single week of the year. At some point you’re just going to run out of steam and while it might be annoying, it is also realistic.
Now that being said, who are they kidding with what we are getting at the moment? I can understand that th..

Coronavirus May Alter Some WWE Contracts

That’s very convincing. The Coronavirus has wrecked havoc on WWE for several months now and there is no reason to believe that is going to be changing anytime soon. Above all else, a lot of wrestlers are not comfortable with coming to the Performance Center under these circumstances and have stayed at home. That might not be the best thing for the fans or the company, but it does make sense. However, WWE may be fighting back against them in a pretty big way.
There have been several wrestlers not appearing on WWE television for a good while, though some wrestlers have been away a lot longer than others. Some of these names leaving have been a bit bigger than others, with Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn being near the top of the list. As you might guess, the two of them, plus anyone else staying away, are on different levels. WWE is not happy with some people staying away and it may be time for them to do something about it.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is considering either f..

Roman Reigns Makes Controversial Statement About Royal Rumble

That’ll raise some eyebrows. While he might not be the most popular name in WWE history, there is no denying that Roman Reigns is one of the biggest stars WWE has ever seen. He has been pushed to the moon more than once and that is the kind of thing that you don’t get to see very often. The results have been mixed, and Reigns has certainly been controversial. Now he has said something that is likely to get people talking again.
One of the most controversial moments of Reigns’ career was in the 2016 Royal Rumble, when he defended the WWE Championship while entering at #1. Reigns was around near the end, but took a long break during the match after an attack by the League of Nations. He has won the Royal Rumble before, although not with the crowd reaction WWE may have wanted, plus finished runner up more than once. He has a history in the match, and now he is talking about it.
On Tuesday, Fox Sports 1 aired the 2017 Royal Rumble, where Reigns finished runner up. During the broadcast, R..

RUMOR: What Led To Heath Slater’s WWE Return

He did what he said. Like any other wrestling company, WWE’s roster is going to change at a fairly rapid rate. At one point or another, someone is going to leave and be replaced by another wrestler. That may or may not be an upgrade, but what matters the most is seeing where things go and having a good time. This week, a recently departed wrestler made a cameo return and it was for a good reason.
During this week’s Monday Night Raw, Dolph Ziggler brought out Heath Slater, who had been released from the company back in April, to confront Drew McIntyre. After McIntyre defeated Slater in less than thirty seconds, the two of them hugged in what seemed to be Slater’s farewell to the show. It was a bit of a sad moment but at least Slater did get to have a sendoff. So how did he get it?
According to Tom Colohue of SportsKeeda.com, Slater’s return was due to McIntyre requesting the match since he became WWE Champion in April. While Slater was released less than two weeks after McIntyre won t..

RUMOR: Kairi Sane Leaving WWE Not A Guarantee

Not so fast? While WWE is the pinnacle of the wrestling business for a lot of people, it might not be the end goal for everyone in the business. There is nothing wrong with that, and sometimes a wrestler might get there and then want to go somewhere else. That might be due to something in the business or something personal, but one wrestler considering leaving WWE might not be going so soon.
There are a lot of international stars in WWE and one of the most entertaining is Kairi Sane. She has a special charisma to her and the Insane Elbow is one of the best finishers around. While Sane has certainly had some success, she has never had that great moment that would send her up to the next level. Earlier this week, news broke that Sane would probably be leaving WWE to head back to Japan, but that might have been jumping the gun.
According to Talksport.com, WWE is making an effort to keep Sane under contract, including offering her more money, as they want her to stay and see value in her..

AEW Dark Results – July 7, 2020

If you would like to see this show in full, you can watch it here for free:

Dark
Date: July 7, 2020
Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida
Commentators: Excalibur, Taz
It’s the go home show for the second half of Fyter Fest and I’m not sure if that is going to matter. This show continues to be all over the place and I’m not sure what to expect from it week to week. One of the biggest draws here is the in-ring debut of Brian Pillman Jr., who could be a star in a few years. Let’s get to it.
Taz and Excalibur give us a quick hello.
Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Shawn Spears Tully Blanchard is here with Spears. Feeling out process to start with Pillman flipping out of a wristlock and kicking Spears into the corner. Some chops put Pillman in the corner but he’s right back with a dropkick. That means a chat with Blanchard on the floor, which seems to work as Spears dropkicks him off the ropes back inside. Pillman gets sent head first into the steps on the way to the ring but he’s right ..

RUMOR: What Impressed Vince McMahon On SmackDown

He sees it bro. The WWE has seen some incredible wrestlers over the years and some of them are among the greatest talents of all time. With so much ability and so much skill, there is a desire to name someone else as the next insert great wrestler here. That is some amazing pressure, and Vince McMahon himself seems to think that there is something to one of his younger stars.
About a month ago, Matt Riddle made his full time debut on the main roster and immediately became a big deal, defeating Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles in a non-title match. It was clear that WWE saw a lot in him and that Riddle was going to be in for a huge push. Riddle followed it up with a big promo this past week, and it caught the eye of the boss.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, McMahon was so impressed with Riddle’s story about wrestling barefoot that he allowed Riddle to tell it on SmackDown. McMahon sees a lot of a young Shawn Michaels in Riddle: a wrestler with a rebel mentality who may annoy others ..
