AEW Has Big Plans For Jungle Boy

Consider it a youth movement. There are a lot of talented wrestlers in AEW and one of the best parts of the roster is the younger group. AEW has done a great job of presenting various wrestlers that aren’t well known outside of the promotion. That can make for some interesting prospects for the future, and AEW seems to have big plans for one certain younger wrestler.
Since the company’s inception, the Jurassic Express has been one of the more popular acts in AEW. The trio, comprised of Marko Stunt, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, has a good balance between different styles of wrestling and the team has been a success. Each of the three offer something unique and AEW has some good talent on their hands. AEW certainly has major plans for one of them.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW is planning to push Jungle Boy with a major win at some point in the future, though they are waiting until the arenas are allowed to have a full compliment of fans. Jungle Boy has challenged both for ..

Erick Rowan Reveals Bizarre Pitch For WWE Cage Angle

It might have been better. There are a lot of angles that come and go in wrestling with some of them having better results than others. You never know what you might see in the big payoff, because wrestling companies, including WWE, are going to be able to come up with some completely out there endings. That was the case with an angle earlier this year, but it was originally going to be completely different, and maybe in a better way.
Back in November 2019, Erick Rowan started carrying around a cage. There was something inside of the cage, but no one but Rowan was allowed to know what it was. Every now and then, Rowan would allow someone to see what it was and they were all terrified of what was going on. Whatever it was would bite anyone who came near it, including Rowan. It became a story where something had to be in there, and eventually it was revealed. Things could have been very, very different.
Rowan, now known as Erick Redbeard, was interviewed by Sportskeeda.com and revealed..

We’re coming up on Takeover and that means most of the card is either set or more or less set. We still need to figure out what the heck is going on with the ladder match as last week saw a change to the lineup. Other than that, we have the build towards Karrion Kross vs. Keith Lee in the big hoss fight. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Karrion Kross vs. Danny Burch We get the full entrance for Kross. Burch says ring the bell and goes right at Kross with a dropkick. A clothesline puts Kross on the floor but Kross pulls him outside and hits a two handed chokeslam. Back in and Kross talks trash while slowly hammering away, as should be the case with him. There’s the exploder but Burch manages an enziguri out of the corner.
Burch hits the missile dropkick out of the corner into a German suplex. A second German suplex sets up the Crossface but Kross rol..

We’re coming up on Takeover and that means it is time to continue with the series of triple threat matches on the way to the North American Title match. Tonight it’s Ridge Holland vs. Damian Priest and Oney Lorcan. We probably need to set up some more stuff for the card and we might get there tonight. Let’s get to it.
Opening recap.
Opening sequence.
Dakota Kai vs. Rhea Ripley The winner gets Io Shirai for the Women’s Title at Takeover. Ripley starts fast with a dropkick into the corner and the big shoulders to the ribs. A wheelbarrow faceplant puts Kai down again and Ripley pounds her down in the corner again. Ripley grabs a bodyscissors for a bit before blasting her with a clothesline for two. They head outside with Ripley electric chair dropping Kai face first onto the apron. We take a break and come back with Kai hitting a pump kick to the face f..

Chaos At WWE TV Tapings Causes Schedule Changes

It isn’t going well. I think it is safe to say that WWE is not in the best place at the moment. The company is still the biggest and most successful in the world, but at the same time, things could be a lot better than they are now. Television has been the biggest problem of them all at the moment as the fans have not been very interested. You can point to a lot of reasons for that, but what is causing all of this trouble? It might be something underneath the hood.
One of the biggest problems with WWE seems to be that they cannot figure out what they are going to have taking place on the show until the last minute. While the shows still do take place, it seems to have very little of what was originally planned for the night. That can lead to a host of problems, and one of those problems may have led to something even bigger this week.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE was forced to change their taping schedule for next week’s Monday Night Raw and SmackDown due to “o..

AEW Announces Details Of Heels Community

A special place. Women’s wrestling has come such a long way in just a few years. Starting with the Women’s Revolution, women’s wrestling moved from little more than a sideshow to one of the most important parts of the industry. It was a long time coming but the payoff has worked rather well. WWE has seen one of the biggest rises, but it has become an industry wide change. Now AEW is getting in on it in a rather different way.
One of the most important things to do in all of wrestling is to keep the fans around. Making the fans care in the first place is one thing but making them stick around is a lot harder. Wrestling companies have to do the same things over and over but they are managing to find a way to get there. AEW has another idea and it is catering to a certain group of fans.
AEW has announced, by way of Wrestlinginc.com, that Heels, a wrestling community focused on women has officially launched. The community, led by Brandi Rhodes, is designed to allow female fans to have a ..

KB’s Review: Story Time

I titled this week’s Monday Night Raw review “May All Your Walls Be Sticky” because it was pretty obvious that they were throwing whatever they could think of out there this week and hoping they found something that worked. It has been a long time since a non-Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania had so much going on and that is not a good sign for WWE. They are flailing to find an audience right now as the fans just are not interested in what they are presenting. That can be a dangerous place to go as you never know what you are going to see, but there were two ideas that really stood out to me on this week’s show.
As usual, the WWE.com preview for the show focused on the main points, most of which were drawn from previous episodes. However, there were two things that were being introduced for the first time this week and those are the things we are looking at today. They were very different and seem to be completely separate from each other, and that might be the best thing possible a..

More Details On Raw Underground

The timing didn’t work. Every now and then, WWE will throw out some big idea that seems like it is going to change things in a major way. Some of these are a lot better than others but when you get something big, it could be a major event that can take the company a long way. It was the case again this week and if it seems to have been a little rushed, it is probably because it was.
The big story coming out of this week’s Monday Night Raw was the introduction of Raw Underground, which focused on Shane McMahon running an underground fight club. Some other wrestlers got involved over the course of the night but a lot of things felt a bit more unscripted and serious instead of a good chunk of the rest of the show. Things still did not exactly click though and there is a reason for that.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Raw Underground was designed as a last minute idea to prevent the television ratings and audience from going even lower than they have in recent weeks. This week’s ..

Special Appearances Announced For AEW Tag Team Appreciation Night

It’s a special one. AEW is just over a year old but they already have several things going for them which set them apart from other promotions. That kind of identity is a good thing for everyone involved as you don’t want to just be another company who acts like WWE with some slight variations. One of those ideas is pushing a distinct division on their show, and now it will be getting its own night.
Tag team wrestling has been a big part of AEW since its inception and the idea has continues to be treated as something important. This involves a rather deep tag team division with several teams who could be seen as contenders for the Tag Team Titles. The company also focuses on the old school in a way, which will certainly be the case on next week’s Dynamite.
During this week’s Dynamite, AEW announced the card for next week’s Tag Team Appreciation Night. The show will include special appearances by Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard and the Rock N Roll Express, plus Hangman Page and Kenny..

REVIEW: Summerslam 2000: The Forgotten Great One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Summerslam 2000
Date: August 27, 2000
Location: Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina
Attendance: 18,124
Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler
This is another show that I barely remember at all. A lot has changed since last time and it’s dramatically changed the card. To begin with, Austin is out with neck surgery and Rock has ascended to the top of the company. He’ll be defending the title tonight against HHH and upstart star Kurt Angle, a real Olympic gold medalist. On top of that, four guy..

Dexter Lumis Out Of Takeover: XXX, Replacement To Be Set

Card subject to change. We are coming up on Takeover: XXX and the card is starting to come together. There are a lot of things left to cover though, including filling out the field for the North American title ladder match. The match will involve five participants, all of whom have to qualify by winning a triple threat. Two of them already have, but now things are already needing to be changed.
While it may be forgotten at times, NXT is a developmental system and is designed to set up new stars over the years. That can take some time to do on occasion but sometimes NXT finds something new and makes them into a bigger deal. At the same time though, fans might not always see things the same way as the company. That seems to be the case with a current star, but he might not be around for the time being anyway.
This week on NXT, Dexter Lumis was ruled out of the North American Title match at Takeover: XXX. Lumis suffered an ankle injury last week during his victory over Timothy Thatcher ..

Watch: Wrestling Legend Makes AEW Debut In Special Role

I remember you! There are a lot of people to remember in wrestling history and of course some of them are going to be bigger names than others. That is the case in any wrestling promotion, but sometimes someone’s reputation is strong enough to carry over to another company. It certainly is true of the Attitude Era and that was on display this week on a big show.
One of the biggest current feuds in AEW is Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho. For some reason Jericho has become obsessed with destroying Cassidy once and for all but has not been able to put him away. It has kept going for a good while now, and this time around the big idea was a debate between the two. That involved a special moderator who was a wrestling legend in his own right.
This week on Dynamite, Eric Bischoff made his AEW debut as the moderator for the Cassidy vs. Jericho debate. Bischoff asked five questions and had the wrestlers give their response before ultimately declaring a winner. There is no indication that Bi..
