REVIEW: Halloween Havoc 2000: The Scary One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Halloween Havoc 2000
Date: October 29, 2000
Location: MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
Attendance: 7,582
Commentators: Stevie Ray, Tony Schiavone, Mark Madden
It’s at least a double main event tonight and you could argue a triple with Kronik vs. Goldberg, Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett and Booker T. defending the World Title against Scott Steiner. After that though the card falls off a cliff and hits every single rock on the way down. Let’s get to it.
We open with the fans being polled about the handicap match. We..

NXT Did Something Pretty Weird At Takeover: 31

Call them warm bodies? A commentary team is one of the most important parts of any wrestling show. You need the right people calling the show to point the fans in the right direction and convey the messages and stories that the company is pushing. This is easier said than done and the wrong team can make things all the more complicated. That was kind of the case on Sunday, at least in person.
NXT is in a strange place at the moment as their three person commentary booth is not only changing due to some new members, but those members are rarely always in the same place. Beth Phoenix has been doing commentary from her home in North Carolina due to Coronavirus scares and Wade Barrett has not been present for some of the recent shows. However, NXT had a solution on Sunday, though it was a completely bizarre one.
According to the Local Competitor Twitter account, which identifies non-contracted wrestlers who appear as extras on wrestling shows, NXT used two stand-ins for Phoenix and Barre..

WWE Has Big Plans For An NXT Star

They have good taste. NXT is one of the more unique wrestling promotions in the world as they are not only their own wrestling company but also the official developmental program for WWE. That means their job is to get people ready to move up to the main roster, which can make things all the more complicated for everyone involved. At some point though, you are going to see someone moving up to the main roster, but first of all they need to get noticed. Someone has indeed gotten noticed down in NXT and in a good way.
On Sunday, NXT held its latest Takeover event, which came only six weeks after its predecessor, meaning there was very little time in between shows. NXT was going to need a heck of a performance from a lot of people to make it work, meaning the champions were going to be under the gun in a hurry. That was absolutely the case and one of them certainly got noticed.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Damian Priest’s match against Johnny Gargano at Takeover: 31 was design..

Main Event Set For Hell In A Cell

That makes it official. We are less than a month away from Hell In A Cell, which is one of the bigger themed shows that WWE offers in any given year. The show’s namesake match is what matters the most on the show and WWE needs to present something special to make the matches work as well as they can. One match has already been announced and now we have the second ready to go.
One of the biggest stories in WWE this year has been the feud between WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton. The two have been feuding for several months now with McIntyre defeating him at both Summerslam and Clash Of Champions. This has not set well with Orton, who attacked a group of legends last week, forcing McIntyre to make a decision. Now that decision has been made.
This week on Monday Night Raw, McIntyre accepted Orton’s challenge to meet him inside the Cell for the WWE Championship at Hell In A Cell. Orton had teased the match on last week’s show but only officially made the challenge this week. Mc..

VIDEO: Retribution Has A Leader After A Shocking Heel Turn

Tell me more. There are so many people in WWE at the moment that it is not easy to find something for all of them to do. That has been a problem in the past and it still is even to this day. There are all kinds of stables throughout the roster to give the people as much time as they can, and now one of the bigger ones has gotten a very surprising new member added to the lineup.
Over the last two months or so, Retribution has become a major problem for Monday Night Raw. The group of masked wrestlers has attacked members of the roster and laid waste to several of them but only lately have things started to have a direction. The team still does not have a clear leader, but that changed this week in quite the surprise twist as a new member was revealed.
This was shocking. Check out how Retribution got a lot bigger in a hurry:

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – October 5, 2020

Monday Night Raw
Date: October 5, 2020
Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Tom Phillips, Samoa Joe, Byron Saxton
The road to the Cell continues as we are now less than three weeks away from the next pay per view. There is little secret to the fact that we are coming up on Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre III inside the Cell for McIntyre’s title, though the match has not been announced just yet. Let’s get to it.
Randy Orton is in the back where he talks about how he could have left Clash Of Champions as WWE Champion. Instead, he left in an ambulance. He remembers a little bit about the match, which included Big Show, Christian and Shawn Michaels all interfering and Ric Flair driving the ambulance away. All Orton felt was excruciating pain and then the next night, Drew McIntyre stood in front of the four of them and celebrated.
That sight made him sick and then the four of them played poker all night. It was too much for Orton, so he turned out the lights, grabbed some..

Former WWE Star Officially Announces Retirement

See you later. While there are a lot of other wrestling promotions in the world, WWE is ultimately the biggest, most powerful and most influential in the world. If a wrestler makes a name for themselves there, they are going to be able to survive on that for years to come. The independent circuit is filled with wrestlers who were formerly part of WWE, but now one of them is going to be hanging up her boots.
The Women’s Revolution has brought WWE a long way and there is no denying how big the changes have been for the company. It took a long time to get here, but the women’s division has reached heights no one would have ever believed possible just a few years ago. As different as this generation has been, there was a group of wrestlers who came before it to help pave the way, but one of them is walking away from wrestling.
In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, former WWE and NWA Women’s Champion Jazz announced that she has officially retired from in-ring competition. Jazz had been..

Former WWE Producer Arrested Over The Weekend

It happens. As wrestling fans, we sit back and watch a lot of wrestlers every single week and often do so in awe. There is something so amazing about what we get to see so often and it’s a great thing to see. However, one thing that people tend to forget at times is the fact that these people have lives outside of the ring. One of those lives did not go as well recently.
One of the bigger WWE stories of the year has been the departure of dozens of wrestlers and several backstage workers. The Coronavirus pandemic caused all kinds of changes to be made and there are only so many things that WWE can do in such a situation. Several names were gone, including some who were rather familiar to WWE fans, and now one of them has even more bad news.
According to PWInsider.com, Sarah Stock was arrested on Sunday morning on charges of aggravated battery, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and public intoxication by alcohol. She has already been released from jail by the sheriff’s depa..

Impact Wrestling Results – September 29, 2020

Impact Wrestling
Date: September 29, 2020
Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee
Commentators: Josh Matthews, Madison Rayne
We’re on the way to Bound For Glory and that means we are starting to see the card coming together. This time around we are building towards the Tag Team Title match, as the Good Brothers and the Rascalz, who are likely heading towards a multi team title match, have their own match going on tonight. Let’s get to it.
Opening recap.
Opening sequence.
Taya Valkyrie/Rosemary vs. Havok/Nevaeh Rosemary and Havok have to be held back to start so it’s Nevaeh running Taya over with a shoulder to start. The other two come in with Rosemary taking Havok down and hammering away to quite a bit of avail. Taya comes in but can’t whip Havok in, instead being clotheslined down.
Nevaeh grabs a front facelock and then hits a basement dropkick for two. Havok comes in and gets two off Nevaeh’s clothesline. A quick crawl between Havok’s legs allows the hot tag to Rosemary a..

WWE RUMOR: Two WWE Shows Moving To Performance Center

Load up the trucks. The Coronavirus has changed the way the wrestling world works and WWE has certainly been no exception. There are only so many ways to present a wrestling show in a small building and at times, something needs to be changed. WWE has made such changes by moving from the Performance Center into the Amway Center. That might not be the only change they make though.
One of the biggest problems with the Performance Center was it did not seem to fit the image of a major wrestling promotion. The building is not very bit and is only going to be able to handle so much as far as a production goes. There wasn’t much that WWE could do with it for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, but they have some other shows available and are taking advantage of one.
According to Post Wrestling, WWE is moving both NXT and 205 Live to the Performance Center starting this Sunday with Takeover: 31. There is no word on why the change is being made so suddenly. NXT has been taped at Full Sail Univer..

VIDEO: AEW Roster Sings Chris Jericho’s Judas

I’d think he’s earned it. There are very few wrestlers in the world today who are as famous as Chris Jericho. He has been in the wrestling industry for almost thirty years now and has accomplished almost everything there is to accomplish. In addition to wrestling, Jericho has also spread into various other industries, many of which have been successful as well. One is more than the rest though and now the two are becoming one.
Jericho remains the biggest signing that AEW has ever had, but he came with a bit of a bonus. Since Jericho is the lead singer of the band Fozzy, he had quite a few songs to pick from for his entrance music. In the end he went with Judas, which is a rather catchy song. It is catchy enough that his fans like singing the song back to him during his entrances, but how well do his co-workers know the song?
I’d call it a tribute. Check out the AEW roster trying their voices at Judas:

Former AEW Star Injured In Nasty Accident

It could have been worse. There are a lot of ways that a wrestler can get hurt in the ring. No matter how talented the wrestlers are, there is no way to guarantee that they are going to be completely safe. On top of that though, there are the risks that come with just going through everyday life. The latter caused a fairly well known wrestler quite a few injuries in a recent accident.
AEW Dynamite is coming up on its one year anniversary and a lot has changed in the last twelve months. Various wrestlers have come and gone over that time, though some of them have been more notable than others. Some wrestlers who were around at the beginning of the promotion just went away out of nowhere, which is what happened to someone who made headlines with some bad news.
Former AEW wrestler Cima has announced via Twitter, with translation via 411mania.com, that he was struck by a car while he was riding his bicycle. Cima has suffered a variety of injuries as a result, including a head injury, a f..
