Major League Wrestling Fusion Results – December 16, 2020

Fusion #114

We’re back to the club and that means the Opera Cup is continuing. I’m not sure what we’re going to get here other than the second semifinal, but Alex Hammerstone is back after a few weeks off due to Contra. That seems to be your next big showdown and it needs more building, so let’s get to it.
Richard Holliday and Alex Hammerstone arrive and aren’t happy with being interviewed as soon as they get to the show. Some masked goons jump them but don’t get very far. Hammerstone is about to ram one of them into the car but Holliday stops Hammerstone because the car is in Holliday’s name. Hammerstone elbows him in the face instead.
Opening sequence.
LA Park Jr. vs. Bu Ku Dao Dao is TJP’s protege so TJP, along with LA Park, is here. Park points to the ropes to distract Dao (barely five feet tall) and kicks him to the rope, allowing Park Sr. to get in some cheap shot..

205 Live Results – December 11, 2020

205 Live
Date: December 11, 2020
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida
Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph
The rise of the new guys continues around here and that’s a good thing. Curt Stallion is leading the pack and I could go with the title match against Santos Escobar. It’s nice that they’re building things up a bit as while Stallion is unlikely to win the title, he is gaining a lot with the victories that are setting it up. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Tony Nese/Ariya Daivari vs. Bollywood Boyz Samir fights off the early double teaming attempt and it’s off to Sunil for two off a clothesline. A double suplex gets two more but the way too early Bollywood Blast attempt misses. Nese comes back in with a chinlock and then a torture rack, which looks quite impressive on someone who can be bent around like Samir.
That’s broken up and Nese dropkicks Daivari by mistake, allowing the hot tag to Sunil. Everything breaks down and the superkicks abound, meani..

Main Event Results – December 10, 2020

Main Event
Date: December 10, 2020
Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Tom Phillips, Samoa Joe
It’s the last show in the Amway Center before everything moves over to Tropicana Field. Somehow Main Event has actually shaken things up a bit in recent weeks and I could go for more of that. This is the kind of thing that the show has needed for….well several years now and hopefully that is the case again. Let’s get to it.
In Memory of Pat Patterson.
Opening sequence.
Here is Elias to open things up….and Jaxson Ryker of all people is with him. Elias talks about being electrocuted on Raw last week but he can still play his guitar like this. The electricity gave him a vision though, just like Ryker. The vision taught him that the universal truth is WWE stands for WALK WITH ELIAS. Cue R-Truth with the usual band of idiots, with Ryker taking out Akira Tozawa. Truth gets on the commentary table and says that he likes his own song better. Rapping ensues.
We recap Roman Reig..

Major League Wrestling Fusion Results – December 9, 2020

Fusion #113
Date: December 9, 2020
Location: Gilt Nightclub, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Jared St. Laurent, Rich Bocchini
Last week’s show was the best since the Restart and we’re in for some good stuff if they can keep that up. What matters here is capitalizing on the momentum and the big piece is in place as the Von Erichs defend the Tag Team Titles against Contra. That could go either way so let’s get to it.
Contra says MLW hasn’t taken control of anything and promises to bring the heroes to their knees. Look at what they have done to Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Alex Hammerstone. Tonight, they come for the Tag Team Titles.
Opening sequence.
Zenshi vs. Calvin Tankman Zenshi’s legsweep has no effect to start and a dropkick to the back just annoys Tankman. A hurricanrana sends him into the corner and a kick to the head staggers the monster a bit. That’s about it for the offense though as Tankman plants him with a spinebuster and chops away in the corner. Tankman sends him flying but..

WATCH: WWE Says Goodbye To 2020 Like We All Want To

I think we all need it. There is a nearly universal consensus that 2020 has been a terrible year. It has even become a running joke that 2020 cannot come to an end soon enough. We are now less than a year away and while there is no guarantee that things could get better next year, it is almost impossible to imagine them being that much worse. WWE is looking forward to the change as well and have gotten in on the idea.
This has been a rather rough year for WWE as well, with the biggest problem involving the Coronavirus pandemic. The company has had to change all kinds of plans due to everything going on, including sticking around Florida for about nine months. That is the kind of thing that you cannot expect and it is understandable that frustration has set in. Now WWE is venting some frustration
This sounds very nice. Check out WWE’s farewell to 2020:

WWE has released a video showing various wrestlers beating up the year 2020, including Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, Ricochet, Rey Mys..

Backstage Uncertainty Over Keith Lee’s Future

He might be in trouble. You never know how well someone is going to do when they get the call to go from NXT up to WWE. Some people are far more successful than others and that can create a lot of headaches for fans in a hurry. Several of the callups are wrestlers who have been both popular and successful in NXT but something just does not click once they make the main roster. That seems to be the case with someone else.
Survivor Series 2019 was a packed show, but arguably no one stole the night more than Keith Lee. After eliminating Seth Rollins, Lee was the last man eliminated from the men’s elimination match. The following year, Lee would go on to become both the NXT North American and NXT Champion before moving up to the main roster in August. Things have not gone so well for him since and that might be the case for the time being.
According to Fightful Select, it is not clear what Lee will be doing in the future on Monday Night Raw. While Lee has had some limited success, his on..

WATCH: Miami Dolph Does Awesome Steve Austin Impression

He’s kind of a legend. There are certain names that keep coming up in the history of wrestling greats and Steve Austin is almost always on that list. Austin was a master at just about every aspect of wrestling and his style certainly got him some attention over the years. Various things that he has done over the years have become iconic, and you can still see them around today, which was the case this weekend.
There are several things that Austin is noted for and one of the biggest is beer. Austin was famous for drinking several beers after a match, often declaring a beer bash to end his shows. It was such a big part of his persona that he has released his own brand of beer in his retirement. Austin and beer go together, and now another kind of athlete is paying a bit of a tribute to him.
You might recognize this. Check out a pretty cool Austin tribute:

WATCH: AEW Stars Reenact A Christmas Story

It comes with the partnership. AEW has become one of the hottest wrestling companies in recent memory and they have done so in a hurry. The company has only been around for less than two years and their weekly Dynamite show has been around even less than that. A lot of their success has come from their partnership with TNT, and now they are getting in on another aspect of that partnership.
One of the perks of being on TNT is being associated with the Turner name, which includes both TNT and TBS. The two networks are often presented as a mixture of drama and comedy, offering quite the mixture. AEW does offer some comedy on occasion so there is a way to tie things together. That is what they are doing now, though it has nothing to do with wrestling.
They might need a casting director. Check out what AEW has done now:

AEW has released a preview of some of its wrestlers reenacting clips from the movie A Christmas Story, which TNT airs in a 24 hour marathon on Christmas Day. The clip fe..

REVIEW: Saturday Night’s Main Event #14: You Can See It Coming

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Saturday Night’s Main Event #14
Date: January 2, 1988
Location: Capital Center, Landover, Maryland
Attendance: 11,000
Commentators: Jesse Ventura, Vince McMahon

It’s a new year and Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant is the only story of note at the moment. We’re getting very close to the rematch and the contract will be signed in just a few weeks on a free television special called the Royal Rumble. Getting King Kong Bundy out of the way is little more than a formality so let’s get to it.

Double Video: Two Returns Take Place On Monday Night Raw

Welcome back. There are a lot of people working for WWE and at times it can be easy to lose track of some of them. With so many people around, sometimes a few of them might leave television for long periods of time for one reason or another, during which time the fans could forget about them. That makes a surprise return special, and fans were treated to two of them on Monday.
There are a few different reasons to write someone off of television, but there are far more ways to write someone out. WWE has all kinds of creative ways to get someone out of a storyline, though occasionally they don’t even bother to give you an explanation. This week’s show featured a return from both situations and they both came in rather different ways.
Two returns took place this week on Monday Night Raw. First, Jaxson Ryker made his return to one of the main shows as Elias’ new bodyguard, after only appearing once on Main Event earlier this month. Ryker had been taken off of television due to Twitter co..

How Vince McMahon Almost Wrestled At CombatMania 33

He would do it too. There are some unique characters in the wrestling world but there is only one Vince McMahon. In addition to being the most influential and powerful main in modern wrestling, McMahon is also someone who can never be duplicated no matter what. Sometimes you see him do things that are hard to fathom at times, and we almost saw another item added to that list a few years ago.
In addition to being the owner of WWE, McMahon is also someone who has appeared on camera on and off for more than forty years. That is impressive enough on its own but sometimes McMahon even gets in te ring. For someone who doesn’t have any traditional formal training, McMahon does quite well most of the time and has even won a few titles in his day. It turns out that he almost got in the ring again on the big stage.
Kevin Owens recently spoke to Alex McCarthy of TalkSport, during which he revealed that McMahon was originally scheduled to team with his son Shane McMahon against Owens and Sami Za..

Elias Was “Offended” By Legends Taking Spots On Main Shows

Can you blame him? There are so many wrestlers in WWE at the moment and that is a rather good thing. You can never have too much talent to pick from, though sometimes that can present a problem for the wrestlers themselves. At some point you run out of places to put all of these wrestlers, and that can be a problem if someone else gets their place. That was the case again with one current WWE star.
One of the main criticisms of modern WWE is the lack of new star power. This is made even worse when a legend shows up and outshine the younger wrestlers, which could be the case for a variety of reasons. If nothing else, WWE tends to treat its legends like huge deals and that can cause some issues for others involved. One WWE star does not seem to like the idea and has said something about it.
Elias recently appeared on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast and spoke about his issues with legends appearing on major shows. Elias said that he was offended by people like Shawn Michaels, Unde..
