NXT UK
Date: March 4, 2021
Location: BT Studios, London, England
Commentators: Andy Shepherd, Nigel McGuinness
It’s time for a special show with a huge main event. This week the Women’s Title is on the line again as Kay Lee Ray defends against Meiko Satomura in what sounds like a final boss fight (because that’s an awesome/appropriate nickname). I’m not sure how I see it going but it would be a bit un-NXT to have someone pop in and win the title in her first major match. Let’s get to it.
The opening video looks at the Women’s Title match with various main roster and NXT women giving their picks.
Opening sequence.
Sam Gradwell vs. Ilja Dragunov Gradwell gets in a slap to the face and dodges away, only to get taken to the mat with a head and arm clutch. That’s broken up with Gradwell going for the arm but walking straight into a big boot. Gradwell is busted open but he is still able to catch Dragunov on top and knock him to the floor. Back in and Gradwell gets two off a shot to the f..

One More? The Hurt Business Interested In Expanding

Keep it growing? There are some great stables in wrestling these days and those things can do a lot of good for the sport in general. If nothing else it is nice to see a bunch of wrestlers getting out there and having some time to showcase themselves, which can easily be done as part of a team. It helps when the teams are able to grow and build off of each other, and now one of the more successful teams might be doing even better.
Over roughly the last year, the Hurt Business has turned into one of the most dominant stables in recent memory. While the team got off to a rocky start, they are currently in possession of the Raw Tag Team Titles as well as the WWE Title. That is not bad for a group of people who were hardly doing anything before the team started. Now that things are doing so well, they might even be expanding, but in a bit of a surprising way.
During a new interview with Complex, WWE Champion Bobby Lashley was asked what the Hurt Business wants. Lashley said that the team ..

Update On NXT Possibly Changing Nights In April

That would change things. We are on the way towards WrestleMania 37 and that means things are going to get a lot more interesting in a hurry. The two night WrestleMania event will be the biggest nights of the year but they are not the only times of the season that matter. In addition, WWE beefs up its television around the same time and now we might be seeing something else.
The WWE television situation has been rather interesting in the last few years as NXT has been moved up to the same level as Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. At the same time, NXT has been going head to head with AEW Dynamite every Wednesday night for about a year and a half. That has made for some interesting situations, but one of them seems ready to be finished.
According to Wrestling Observer Live, reports of NXT moving to Tuesday nights starting on April 13 are true and the move is considered a “done deal”. The move is coming after news from earlier this year that the NHL is likely coming to the USA Network o..

Important Note About Sting’s Return Match At AEW Revolution

It might be the best idea. Back in December 2020, Sting made his surprise debut in AEW. This came after a several years long run in WWE which did not go so well. Sting’s time in WWE featured him in some forgettable matches and not exactly looking like a legend. Things have been a bit better in AEW, but there is still one more thing to accomplish. AEW will be helping him with that in a special way.
While you can argue about when they officially began, cinematic matches became popular during the Broken Hardys storyline. The feud saw Matt and Jeff Hardy fighting with and against each other in a variety of matches filmed in advanced and heavily produced. Other wrestlers have gotten in on the act and now AEW is going to be doing the same thing again soon.
According to Wrestling Observer Live, the upcoming street fight between Sting and Darby Allin against Team Taz at AEW Revolution will mostly be a cinematic match. This will be the case despite Sting taking bumps and using his signature o..

Title Time: First Match Officially Set For WWE Fastlane

It’s about time. Despite having less than six weeks away from WrestleMania 37, WWE has another pay per view to come first. That could make for an interesting situation, as despite the show being less than three weeks away, nothing has actually been announced yet. WWE is still spending most of their time setting up WrestleMania, but now they do have a title match set.
The Women’s Tag Team Titles have been in a weird place throughout their just over two year long history. There are only so many established teams on the main roster, meaning that several makeshift teams have fought over the titles since they were brought back in 2019. That makes for some odd matches, but now we are in for a team working together for the second time and getting their second title match.
WWE has announced that Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler will defend their Women’s Tag Team Titles against Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair at Fastlane on March 21. This comes after Jax and Baszler successfully defended the titles a..

WATCH: Angry Showdown Takes Place After NXT

It’s not done yet. A title match is the easiest thing in the world to book in wrestling. You have a champion and then you have someone who wants to be champion. A match between the two is booked and you have almost everything you need. Once the match is set, all you have to do is let the people yell at or fight each other and the build is done. That is where NXT shines and they did the short form version this week.
The biggest story in NXT at the moment is the split of the Undisputed Era, as Adam Cole turned on the team at Takeover: Vengeance Day and then completed the split in the ensuing weeks. NXT Champion Finn Balor has been brought into the feud as well, with the title being one of the main ways to get Cole’s attention. A title match between Balor and Cole has been set for next week’s show and the two were pushing it hard after this week’s episode ended.
It was pretty intense. Check out what happened after NXT went off the air:
