BREAKING: Roman Reigns Has Coronavirus, Off WWE Day One

It is always a risk. The Coronavirus pandemic has wrecked havoc on the wrestling world over the last year and a half, but things are starting to get back to normal. That being said, there is still the chance that something could go wrong and cause a wrestler to be infected no matter what. Unfortunately that seems to be the case again and it is happening at the very last minute.
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has announced that he has tested positive for the Coronavirus, meaning that he is off this weekend’s WWE Day One pay per view. Reigns was scheduled to headline the event against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title. WWE has announced that Lesnar has been added to the WWE Title match, making it a fatal five way.
I yearn to perform tonight at #WWEDay1 to defend my Universal Championship. However, unfortunately, earlier today I tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the proper protocols I am unable to compete as originally scheduled. I look forward to returning to action as soon ..

WATCH: AEW’s Best Moments Of 2021

It’s what you do at this time of year. We are finally into the start of 2022 and that can mean a lot of different things. In addition to looking forward, it can also mean a lot of looking back, including at the good things that happened in the previous year. That is what a lot of wrestling promotions are going to do, including some of the biggest in the world today.
AEW has released a new video looking at the best moments of 2021. This includes moments from television and pay per views, mostly in chronological order. It also features a variety of debuts and celebrity appearances, along with some of the surprises over the course of the year. The video is also meant to serve as a happy new year message to the fans as we enter 2022.
This was pretty awesome. Check out the video, plus someof AEW’s most viewed moments of the year:

VIDEO: We Might Have The First Royal Rumble Entrant (And It’s A Surprise)

The first of many. We are officially in the new year and that means a lot of things are changing in WWE. Later this month, we will officially be on the Road To WrestleMania, which will start at the Royal Rumble. The show will feature a pair of its namesake matches, with thirty men and thirty women will vie for a title shot at WrestleMania. That is a pretty special list, but now one name is taking up a spot.
Jackass Forever star Johnny Knoxville has posted a video to his Instagram, announcing that he is entering the Royal Rumble. Knoxville said that he wants to start the new year fighting and says the best way is by getting involved in the match. He also said that there was no one who could throw him out of the ring, including Roman Reigns or Big E. Knoxville and the rest of the Jackass cast appeared on a recent episode of SmackDown to promote the film. There is no word on if Knoxville will actually be entering the match.
It’s a surprising announcement. Check out what Knoxville said, ..

WWE Day One Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

We’ve got a new show this week and this time it is based around a new year. I’m not sure how interesting that is for a full pay per view, but WWE has set things up around flimsier premises before. The good thing is the card looks pretty solid and we could be in for a nice event. That is assuming the Coronavirus pandemic doesn’t wreck anything at the last minute. Let’s get to it.
Kickoff Show: Ricochet/Cesaro vs. Sheamus/Ridge Holland This was added earlier in the week and it sounds good on paper. If nothing else, it is nice to see Ricochet and Cesaro getting some kind of a spot, as they so often feel like people just there to fill in time on television when no one else is available. Sheamus and Holland could make for a nice mentor/mentee twist on the Bar, which seems to be the focal point of how we got here in the first place.
The tag version of this:

As for the match, I can’t imagine Sheamus and Holland losing when they seem to be a bit of..

AEW Rampage Results – December 31, 2021

Rampage
Date: December 31, 2021
Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida
Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Ricky Starks
It’s the very last show of the year for any company, as this one is going all the way to an hour before the New Year on the east coast. There is a fairly big card tonight with an anything goes women’s tag and Cody Rhodes defending the TNT Title. That doesn’t sound too bad so let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Anthony Bowens vs. Darby Allin Max Caster’s rap is about the booster shot and putting people away like Ghislaine Maxwell. Allin starts fast with an early rollup for two, sending Bowens bailing to the floor in a hurry. Back in and Allin ducks a clothesline and dropkicks Bowens right back to the floor. We take a break and come back with Bowens catching a splash in the corner but Allin grabs some rollups for two each anyway.
Allin heads up for the Coffin Drop but gets knocked down, with his arm landing pretty hard. A twisting DDT out of the corner gives Bowens..

WWE’s Top Ten Moments Of 2021 Results

WWE’s Top Ten Moments Of 2021
Date: December 31, 2021
Hosts: Pat McAfee, Michael Cole, Becky Lynch
It’s not exactly Smackdown but at least it’s a special show. As the title might suggest, this is a Top Ten special for the year, which has me wondering what WWE might count as best. They do know how to pull some good things out of the archives though and maybe they can do that again here. Let’s get to it.
I’ll be posting the full versions of matches rather than the clipped editions.
Cole and McAfee welcome us to the show and promise a big celebration. McAfee is starting big, by bringing out the third host: Becky Lynch. The champ is glad to be here and throws us to #10.
From Summerslam.
Raw Tag Team Titles: RKBro vs. Omos/AJ Styles RKBro is challenging after officially reuniting on Raw. Riddle goes after Omos to start and gets tossed down in a hurry as the strikes don’t work. The sleeper doesn’t do much either as Omos isn’t playing around here. AJ comes in and it’s time to kick away a..

REVIEW: Monday Night Raw – January 1, 2018: Feels Like It Was Just Four Years Ago

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Monday Night Raw
Date: January 1, 2018
Location: American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida
Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Booker T.
It’s a new year (yes it is) and that probably doesn’t mean much. We’ll be getting ready for the Royal Rumble in less than a month and tonight that includes an appearance by Brock Lesnar. Other than that we have Roman Reigns defending the Intercontinental Title against Samoa Joe and Cedric Alexander challenging Enzo Amore for the Cruiserweight Title. Let’s get to it.

Tony Khan Responds To Criticisms Of AEW’s Lack Of Diversity And Structure

That could have gone better. AEW has come a very long way in its short history and a lot of that is due to company President Tony Khan. Fans have been waiting a very long time for a huge wrestling fan with serious money to run their own promotion and now Khan is finally here to do just that. There are going to be some rocky points eventually though and that seems to be the case again.
Former AEW star Big Swole discussed her time in the company during an episode of her Swole World podcast. Swole said that she left AEW at the end of November because her inner peace was being disturbed. Her heart was no longer in AEW and she felt that the company needed some more structure.
This included wanting more time for women’s wrestling, saying that there was not enough television time to go around. Many wrestlers were getting short matches on Dark, which was not enough for some of them. She also mentioned that some wrestlers were not comfortable with writing their own material but there was no o..

Former WWE Star Braun Strowman Is Looking Very Different These Days

It’s one of the most important parts. Wrestlers have a difficult job in that they are required to get fans to stop and watch what they are doing. It might be a promo, a match or a segment on the show, but if a viewer does not stop and watch, the performance doesn’t matter. One way to get attention is by looking the right way, and one star has drastically changed their look.
Former WWE Universal Champion Adam Scherr, better known as Braun Strowman, has dyed his beard blond in a change to his look. Scherr sent out the photo on Instagram, which also includes him signing an autograph for an alligator dressed as a character from Loki. Since leaving WWE earlier this year, Scherr has appeared for Ring of Honor. He has not yet publicly announced signing or agreeing to a deal with any promotion.

Several More Details On WWE’s New Coronavirus Policies

They have a plan for that. As has been the case for about two years now, the Coronavirus pandemic is one of the biggest stories in the world. The wrestling industry has taken a beating of its own, as promotions are trying to figure out the best way going forward. This is certainly the case in WWE as well, and now we know more about what the company is doing about the situation.
Earlier this week, news broke that WWE was changing its Coronavirus policy by ending mandatory regular testing. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the new policy is said to be similar to the NFL’s. WWE is requiring that any wrestler who tests positive take an antigen test on the fifth day. Should they pass two such tests twenty four hours apart, they will be allowed to return to work. This falls under the new CDC guidelines, which recommends five days of quarantining after a positive test.
In addition, WWE is requiring that anyone working backstage at an event wear a mask at all times, with fined ..

Another Big Wrestling Star Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Next on the list. The Coronavirus pandemic has started rocking the world all over again and this time in greater numbers. There are only so many things that can be done to bring the already high numbers down, and now the wrestling world is being impacted as well. That is the case again with a prominent star, who might be missing out on an upcoming big match as a result.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Impact Wrestling’s Rich Swann has tested positive for the Coronavirus. The diagnosis has caused him to miss an AAW event earlier this week in Chicago and it is not clear when he will be allowed to return to the ring. Swann is currently scheduled to take part in a ten man Tag Team Hardcore War at Impact Wrestling Hardcore War on January 8.
Swann has been a big part of Impact Wrestling. Check out his time with the company:

One For Two: WWE Announces Plans For Unified Titles

Its name shall be revered. Titles are one of the easiest concepts in all of wrestling, as anyone can get the idea in a hurry. One wrestler has a championship, often represented by a big shiny belt, and others want to take it away. That story can be told in all kinds of ways but ultimately it comes down to wanting the prestigious honor. Now we know what the newest one is going to be called.
Next week at NXT New Year’s Evil, North American Champion Carmelo Hayes will face Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong in a title unification match. WWE has posted a preview of the match, asking who will walk out as NXT North American Champion? This comes as Joe Gacy has been campaigning for the end of the Cruiserweight name, citing its unfairness to heavier wrestlers.
This could be a great one. Check out the champs in action and face to face:
