Starrcade Returning In November To The Greensboro Coliseum
There were rumors swirling around all weekend that WWE was considering bringing back some of the names of the old NWA/WCW PPVs soon, and it looks like those rumors are true. This morning, The Greensboro Coliseum tweeted out that for the first time in over 20 years, Starrcade will be returning to that historic venue on November 25th.

It looks like the show will be headlined by two championship cage matches: one for the WWE World Title between Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura and the other for the SmackDown Women’s Title between Natalya and Charlotte. The lineup also shows legends from Starrcade’s past also scheduled to appear. Since Starrcade began in the Greensboro Coliseum, it’s only right that it is resurrected there.

Let’s just hope WWE plans to do this as a Network special. The 25th falls on a Saturday, so there’s no reason not to air the show.
Starrcade, one of the creations of Dusty Rhodes while he was a producer and booker for Jim Crockett Promotions in the NWA, used to always run on Thanksgiving Day, but after WWE came out with Survivor Series to run against it in 1987, it was moved to the days around Christmas. The show, the biggest that the NWA/WCW held each year, ran from 1983 to 2000. The last Starrcade held in the Greensboro Coliseum was in 1986, when the NWA held The Night Of The Sky-Walkers both in Greensboro and at The Omni in Atlanta.
