Backstage Updates on Potential Future WWE Returns

Might we see more? One of the defining traits of the Triple H era of WWE has been the return of several superstars that were released when Vince McMahon was in charge of the company. It would appear that more may be on the way. According to a report from Fightful Select, Chelsea Green has been under contract with WWE “for quite some time and is still awaiting creative.” This was after she was released from the company on April 15, 2021. Another indication that Green was headed to WWE was her recently shutting down her Onlyfans page. Green’s husband Matt Cardona, who competed as Zack Ryder in WWE, could be on his way back also; however, officials say that “Cardona is not signed, but that we shouldn’t rule anything out for the future.” Finally, Kylie Rae is reportedly still a free agent despite being brought in for a tryout and appearing on WWE Main Event. Next three up. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster, to the point where the company can split its wrestlers into three different rosters. While Monday Night Raw and SmackDown are the main roster shows, NXT is right there as a third option. However, NXT is the developmental territory and a promotion means a lot for a star. Now three stars might be in for that treatment. According to Wrestlinginc.com, NXT stars Brooks Jensen, Josh Briggs and Fallon Henley all appeared on this week’s edition of WWE Main Event, winning a tag match and singles match respectively. While not confirmed, this could mean that the three of them, who wrestle as a team in NXT, could be on their way to the main roster. Jensen and Briggs are former NXT UK Tag Team Champions. He might be around more often. The amount of roster changes that NXT has undergone in the last year and a half has been staggering. There are very few people from the previous generation of NXT still around and the few that are are not exactly receiving a lot of attention. Some of them might be in line for a call up though, and now two new names may be joining that list. According to PWInsider.com, both Roderick Strong and LA Knight were backstage at this week’s SmackDown. As seen on Twitter, the two faced off in a dark match before the show went on the air. He doesn’t sound pleased. There are a lot of wrestlers under the WWE umbrella and several of them do not get to appear as often as others. That can create some issues for those wrestlers, which has seemed to be on display in the number of wrestlers who have walked away from the company in recent years. Now another wrestler does not seem thrilled with how he is being used and has let fans know about it. Over the weekend, SmackDown’s Ricochet sent out a tweet saying that a wrestler’s nickname is how most people refer to them. Ricochet said that his name should be “Best Match On The Show”. This comes as Ricochet has not been used frequently on television, appearing in only three televised matches since November. Granted Main Event has been at normal for a long time now so maybe we can get a little change of pace, even if it does not last long. Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin They slap hands to start and Benjamin runs him over with a shoulder. Neither can hit their finisher early so Hardy sends him into four top turnbuckles in a row. Another Twist of Fate attempt is countered and Benjamin runs the corner for a knee to the face. We hit the reverse chinlock but Hardy fights up in a hurry and knocks Benjamin down for a breather. A running dropkick puts Ryker down and Garza actually wins a strike off. Garza hits a basement dropkick for two and it’s off to an armbar. Welcome back. One of the most entertaining things you can see in wrestling is a surprise return. If these are timed right, it can be about as cool as you can get in wrestling, as a major name returning at just the right time can do all kinds of good for a show. That was the case again this week, as a legend returned to fill in a spot that no one else was taking at the moment. Edge made a surprise return at the end of this week’s SmackDown. Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman were in the ring to give the State Of The Universal Championship Address, where Heyman spoke about how there was no one left for Reigns to face. Edge then returned and brawled with Reigns, but had to stop to beat up Jimmy Uso instead. News from where? WWE has a lot of wrestlers on its roster and it can be rather hard to come up with something for all of them to do. With so many people around, at some point you have to start putting them together, just for the sake of finding a place for them all. A stable can help with that, but a recently formed group might already have been split up without much notice. Over the last few months, we have seen the rise of stables on Monday Night Raw. Both Zelina Vega and Seth Rollins have amassed a group of wrestlers each, with one name from Vega’s team even jumping over to Rollins’ side. That is the kind of thing that makes for some interesting moments, but they weren’t even the only two stables around. They are now though, as something seems to have changed. It’s certainly a foot in the door. Earlier this month at WrestleMania 36, Drew McIntyre changed the WWE main event scene by defeating Brock Lesnar to become the new WWE Champion. McIntyre certainly came into the company with a bang, but what made him such a big deal so fast? McIntyre made his original debut in WWE back in 2007 and was soon dubbed Vince McMahon’s Chosen One. As seen on this week’s episode of 205 Live, former House of Hardcore announcer Vic Joseph made his <a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/debut/" title="debut">debut</a> at the broadcasting booth for the brand. He will be replacing Tom Phillips moving forward.The reason Vic replaced Tom on 205 Live is because the company wants Tom to <a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/focus/" title="focus">focus</a> on other duties in the company and he has a lot on his plate with being the lead announcer for SmackDown Live. With Vic is on the rise within the company, the belief is that he is the perfect replacement. Since arriving in the company, Vic has worked on WWE Main Event and NXT in a short time.
