That’s certainly something to say. AEW’s locker room is in a bit of a state at the moment and that is the kind of thing you do not want to see happen very often. The company is having some issues with its wrestlers and its leadership, which has been going on for more than awhile now. One of the company’s leaders tried to help things out with it not that long ago, but some of the details might not have been so well received. Back on August 24, AEW held a talent meeting before Dynamite. Several veterans spoke at the meeting, including Kenny Omega. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega took more of a “tough love” approach, including a statement that he would not have hired eight out of the ten wrestlers present. Omega was said to be joking with Will Ospreay when he said this, but the comment was taken seriously by others, who were reportedly upset. He went on to say that the locker room energy was different than when AEW began, which was suggested as Omega wanting to retu..
That’s the main point. Titles are often the centerpiece of a wrestling promotion because everyone understands how they work. A championship is the kind of thing that tells a fan who is the best wrestler around and one of them changing hands can make a huge difference. That was the case again this weekend, as several titles changed hands on a single night. AEW held its Forbidden Door event on Sunday night and multiple titles changed hands. First up, FTR won the IWGP Tag Team Titles by defeating Roppongi Vice and reigning champions the United Empire. FTR also retained their Ring Of Honor Tag Team Titles in the process. Next, Pac became the inaugural All-Atlantic Champion by defeating Malakai Black, Clark Connors and Miro in a four way match. Finally, Jon Moxley defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event to win the inaugural Interim AEW World Title. Welcome back. With so many wrestlers around the industry today, it can mean a lot to have one of them show up again. For one reason or another, a wrestler might be gone from their promotion, some of which might not be for the best reasons. That can make for a very nice return, which was the case again this week, as an injured star made his surprise return in a pretty big spot. Orange Cassidy made an onAEW television this week. Following a victory over Dax Harwood, Will Ospreay and the United Empire came to the ring. Harwood’s partner Cash Wheeler and the Best Friends ran in for a beatdown. This brought out Cassidy, who stared down Ospreay. Later in the show, a match between them was set for Forbidden Door on June 26. Cassidy has been out of action with a shoulder injury since the March 6 Revolution pay per view. Cassidy has appeared since the, but this was first time without his arm in a sling. The card grows. We are coming up on a special event for AEW as they are running their first ever June pay per view. The show, Forbidden Door, will feature a variety of matches between AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling stars. There will be some other matches on the card though, including some between only AEW stars. Several of them were added to the card this week. There were three matches added to the Forbidden Door card during this week’s edition of Dynamite. First up, Chris Jericho announced that he would team up with Sammy Guevara and Minoru Suzuki to face Wheeler Yuta, Eddie Kingston and Shota Umino. Next, the returning Orange Cassidy will challenge Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Title. Finally, Thunder Rosa will defend the AEW Women’s Title against Toni Storm. A string of injuries has changed some of the direction in AEW but bringing in some of the New Japan wrestlers should help. That includes this week, as Will Ospreay/Aussie Open are teaming up to face FTR/Trent Beretta. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Eddie Kingston vs. Jake Hager Kingston strikes away to start but Hager knocks him down with a knee to the ribs. Hager sends him outside before it’s back inside to crank on both arms. They’re already back to the floor with Hager pounding away, followed by some forearms in the corner back inside. The armbar goes on back inside but Kingston fights up. As a result, AEW is able to offer all kinds of matches that fans might not be able to see on such a large stage. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured an in-ring segment between FTR and Trent Beretta. During the exchange, New Japan’s Will Ospreay’s name was mentioned, which caused Ospreay himself to appear. Last night’s main event saw Kazuchika Okada win the IWGP World Title again, which leaves him ready for his first defense against Will Ospreay. The second biggest match on the card is Kenta defending the United States Title against Hiroshi Tanahashi in a No DQ match, which could be a heck of a fight. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Togi Makabe/Yuji Nagata/Tomoaki Honma vs. Bullet Club That would be Bad Luck Fale, Gedo and Jado for the Club. The Club jumps them to start but Jado and Gedo are knocked to the floor to start. Fale is fine enough to run Honma over though and the good guys are in trouble early. That doesn’t sound great. There are a lot of ways a wrestler can get injured and put them out of action. These injuries can put someone on the shelf for a short or long time or anywhere in between. That can make for a scary situation and unfortunately that was the case for one of the biggest stars in the world earlier this month. Now we know a bit more about the situation. Former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay tweeted out an update on his condition after suffering a neck injury earlier this month. According to the update, Ospreay spoke to his physio and will be undergoing another MRI on his lower back. There is a chance that his back has suffered the same sort of injury as his neck, though Ospreay did not specify what is wrong. Night one of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Climax 30 Tournament took place at the Osaka Perfectual Gymansium in Osaka, Japan on September 19. It was the opening night of a tourney that will stretch for 19 total events throughout the month of September, concluding on October 18. Pro wrestling fans from all over the globe tuned in to the first night on New Japan World with big expectations. The September 19 event featured Block A, which showcased some of the company’s heavy hitters. Of the six matches on the card, five were G1 bouts and the opening match was a Young Lion exhibition, which saw Yuya Uemura get the win over Yota Tsuji. New Japan Pro Wrestling first opened its doors back in 1972, but it has only been within the past few years that it has seen a strong international presence. Leading independent wrestler Will Ospreay has revealed his new finishing maneuver during a recent match against a talent from NJPW, as confirmed by Ringside News. During a recent NJPW show, Ospreay was scheduled to face KUSHIDA, who had got the best of him in the past. To the shock of everyone, including KUSHIDA himself, Ospreay debuted a new finisher.
