It’s a family thing. Tag team wrestling has been undergoing a bit of a resurgence in WWE as of late, with more teams being formed and a more competitive division overall. While this has been going on, the Usos have reigned on high as one of the most dominant teams in WWE history. However, a change in plans might require someone else in the family to step in for a change. At the Royal Rumble, the Bloodline attacked Sami Zayn but Jey Uso refused to get involved, resulting in Uso not appearing this week on SmackDown. The Usos have a Tag Team Title defense scheduled against Braun Strowman and Ricochet next week on SmackDown, though there is doubt over whether Jey will team with his brother Jimmy. During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated (rather than reported) that WWE could have the Usos’ brother Solo Sikoa team with Jimmy in Jey’s place. They might need counseling. Teams and groups have a long history in wrestling as there have been people paired together for years. These pairings can go in a variety of directions, but sometimes they go south rather quickly. You never know when you are going to see a team have problems or even split up, but a successful one seems to be done following this weekend. One of the featured matches at this weekend’s AEW Full Gear 2022 saw the Acclaimed successfully defend the AEW Tag Team Titles against Swerve In Our Glory (Keith Lee/Swerve Strickland). During the match, Strickland wanted Lee to use a pair of pliers but Lee refused. As a result, Strickland slapped Lee in the face, resulting in Lee walking away. That would be a good reason. WWE has long since used a series of legends to boost up their modern roster. With so many current famous names throughout WWE’s history they have quite the selection to pick from. There have been some great successes over the years but sometimes these things just do not work out. It seems that was the situation with one of the biggest names in WWE history. During a recent edition of the Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle revealed that WWE Hall Of Famer Bob Backlund refused to put the Crippler Crossface on Chris Benoit because he wasn’t standing up. Soon after this, Backlund could not remember his lines during a backstage segment and asked to do it over, not realizing that it was being aired live. Angle believes that was the deciding factor and Backlund was gone from the company soon after. So much for that. Tag teams have a complicated history in WWE as the company has a tendency to put teams together just to split them up. It gets annoying seeing so many teams with potential gt torn apart so soon, but that’s just how things go in WWE. Now it seems to be happening again and we already have the first showdown match between the former teammates. This week on Monday Night Raw, AJ Styles and Omos officially split after weeks of teasing to do so. The team appeared on MizTV, where Miz said that Omos believed Styles was holding him back. Then Omos refused to tag in during their tag match, leaning to a loss to the Mysterios. The two brawled after the match, with Omos laying Styles out. Possible Issues For AEW Bringing In Jeff Hardy

That would be a big one. When a wrestler becomes a legend, it takes them up to another level. If nothing else, it allows them to get away with more than a few things that would torpedo other careers. Some of these things are a lot more serious than others, and one active legend might have enough issues to keep him from being signed to one of the biggest companies around. Earlier this week, Jeff Hardy was released from WWE, following an incident at a live event last weekend. Hardy had reportedly refused to go to rehab for his issues and was released as a result. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this could create a problem with Hardy potentially signing with AEW. While AEW would be interested in Hardy having one final reunion with his brother Matt, it would likely be on a zero tolerance policy for Jeff. It would be a reunion worth seeing. Wrestling Legend Reveals Serious Health Troubles Caused By Alcohol Abuse

It could be worse. One of the more surprising wrestling stories of the year was the announcement that AEW’s Jon Moxley would be entering rehab for alcohol issues. The story came out of nowhere but was a good example of someone realizing that they had a problem and getting the help that they needed. It’s not the easiest story to hear, and now we are hearing something similar. In an interview with Oricon News (with translation courtesy of 411mania.com), wrestling legend and former WWE Women’s Champion Bull Nakano revealed that she was hospitalized last year with cirrhosis of the liver due to alcohol abuse. Nakano said that she refused to go to the hospital due to worrying about work but her symptoms eventually became too bad. Her husband eventually found out how bad things were for Nakano and convinced her to go to the hospital. She also mentioned that she would drink every day but now no longer has since quit and feels healthier as a result. Nakano last wrestled on November 3, 2007. N..

This could be anything from an injury to some kind of storyline issue, but sometimes it is something that has nothing to do with wrestling. This week on SmackDown, WWE executive Sonya Deville announced that she will be facing Naomi on next week’s show. This Is The One Thing Adam Cole Insisted On In WWE Contract Negotiations

That’s the red line. There have been a lot of issues involving WWE’s relationships with its wrestlers over the last few months and that does not seem to be changing anytime soon. Above all else, various wrestlers have not been thrilled with being told what they are not allowed to do. This includes various outside projects, and now one of the bigger issues has come up again. Last month, Adam Cole’s WWE contract officially expired and he became a free agent. Cole did take part in contract negotiations with WWE and there was one thing he refused to budge on. According to Fightful Select, Cole refused to give up his Twitch stream, as other wrestlers had been forced to do late last year. Cole made it clear well before his contract expired that he would not be giving up his Twitch account. WWE did not want to discuss the issue with Cole, as they knew they had no leverage in the situation. There is no word on what WWE did regarding the account. He walked out on the promotion late last year and hasn’t made an appearance ever since. Last week it was reported that Neville had been released, which makes you wonder why it took him so long to be released from the company. It turns out there is a pretty simple reason. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Neville’s contract was frozen for the sake of not allowing a precedent to be set of people walking out and then being released from their contract, allowing them to wrestle anywhere. Enzo Amore Potentially Takes Dig At WWE For His Release

Enzo Amore was fired from WWE in January of this year due to being under investigation for rape allegations. Now that he has been cleared, he has returned to social media, potentially taking a dig at WWE for releasing him. When he was originally released from the company, it was noted that WWE made the decision after he refused to inform them about the investigation. When the investigation concluded, Amore’s attorney noted that the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion was not made aware of the claims until after it exploded onto social media. WWE usually wish their Superstars well in their future endeavors, but Amore was not one of those Superstars. Davey Boy Smith Jr. Is Wanted By Police Over WWE Hall Of Famer Altercation

Davey Boy Smith Jr. is in hot water following an incident between himself and WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts during WrestleCon, according to Ringside News. Smith and Roberts reportedly had a confrontation in relation to Smith’s legendary father. Roberts reportedly insulted Smith’s father and refused to apologize for it. This led to Smith throwing coffee at Roberts. There were battery charges out there on Smith, but F4WOnline has reported that Roberts will now be dropping the charges so Smith won’t face any criminal prosecution from the ordeal.
