For the first time ever, fans were able to see almost every major WWE event in history for a relatively cheap price. Since the now infamous Hell in a Cell match between Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes back in June, the WWE Universe continues to wait for Cody’s return. All indications were that Cody would have been challenging Roman Reigns by SummerSlam. However, the torn pectoral muscle took him out of the game until next year. The general consensus on the rumor mill is that Cody Rhodes is expected back for the Royal Rumble in January. That’s about six months of recovery time for him. On the October 18th episode of AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday, Hangman Adam Page suffered a serious concussion injury in his AEW World Championship match against Jon Moxely. Aside from some general news, there haven’t been many reports on how his health is progressing, especially with AEW Full Gear just hours away. Their job is to get in the ring and showcase their training and skills, which can take years to develop. It can be notable when someone gets the promotion’s attention, and that was the case again this weekend, as two WWE stars caught the company’s attention on the big stage. This weekend, WWE presented its annual Crown Jewel event from Saudi Arabia. According to PWInsider.com, WWE was impressed by Omos and Logan Paul’s work during the event. Omos lost to Braun Strowman, with WWE feeling that he has been making progress in the ring. Paul lost to Roman Reigns in the show’s main event, where WWE praised his poise and overall work. The people let them know. There is an old Lance Storm line about wrestling audiences: there are a lot more people on the other side of that camera. That is certainly true, but there are often a good number of fans in the arena. While their numbers may be smaller, the feedback is instant, as a live crowd can tell you something in person. That was the case this week, but not in the most positive way. This week’s Monday Night Raw opened with a brawl in progress between the Miz and Logan Paul. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this was done to prevent the live fans from booing Paul to open the show. Paul is being presented as the babyface in the story but is still being booed by the fans in attendance. He would appear later in the night, with the hope that fans would have the booing out of their system by booing him before the show began. Paul is expected to face Miz on Saturday at Summerslam. That could be worse. Injuries are one of the few universal problems in wrestling and there is no way around them. No matter who you are, there is always the chance that you are going to get hurt. Unfortunately some of those injuries can be very serious and leave someone on the shelf for a long time. That is the case again, but now we have a positive update. On March 11, Big E suffered a broken neck during a match on SmackDown. Big E has offered another update, saying that his C1 vertebrae is not forming new bone and there will be another scan at the one year mark of his recovery. However, surgery is off the table and Big E should be able to heal on his own. There is no word on when or if Big E will be able to wrestle again. Update! Call it an eye for talent. WWE has a lot of resources available to it and one of their biggest is the talent roster. The company is able to stockpile wrestlers in NXT and call them up when necessary. That can lead to some interesting moments when someone gets to make their main roster debut. That was to be the case recently, but a last minute change shook things up. Last month, WWE released a group of NXT wrestlers due to feeling that they were not progressing fast enough. One of the names released was Harland, who had been serving as Joe Gacy’s enforcer. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Edge had picked Harland to be the fourth member of the Judgment Day stable but the company let him go instead. While not specified, it is said that this is due to WWE finding out something about Harland that warranted the release. Earlier this week, Ring Of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham suffered a possible concussion in a match against Dalton Castle at AEW Battle Of The Belts II. The injury has not yet been confirmed, but Progress Wrestling has announced that Gresham will be missing his appearances for the company in the UK this weekend. The company did say that he will be back in action on May 15. There is no word on when Gresham might be wrestling before then. That doesn’t sound like a swerve. The wrestling landscape has changed in all kinds of ways in recent years and there is nothing to suggest that it is going to change anytime soon. The biggest changes have come due to the massive releases from the WWE roster, as around two hundred wrestlers have been let go in the last two years. A lot of those wrestlers have landed elsewhere and now another is off the free agent market. According to Fightful Select, Shane “Swerve” Strickland will be joining AEW. This comes after Strickland, also known as Isaiah Scott, was released from WWE in November 2021. There is no word on when he will be making his AEW debut.
