Not So Fast? WWE’s Plans For Edge Seem To Have Changed

Maybe? There are a lot of moving pieces in WWE at the moment and it can be difficult to keep track of what is going on from time to time. Original Plan For Erick Rowan’s Giant Spider Revealed (It’s A Little Better)

There was something in mind. WWE runs a lot of different angles on television in any given year. Some of them are more memorable than others and you will occasionally see one that sticks out for years. That might not always be a good thing though and now we know the original plans behind one of the more infamously strange stories that the company has presented in recent memory. Back in November 2019, Erick Rowan began carrying a cage to the ring with him but no one could see what was inside. Over the next several months, whatever was in the cage proceeded to bite several people, including Rowan himself. The creature was eventually revealed to be a large spider, which was then crushed a week later. During a new interview with the 10 Count podcast, Rowan revealed that Seth Rollins told him the original plan called for the creature to be a pet rat. Rowan liked the idea as he felt it tied into his previous story where he tried to kill Roman Reigns. There is no word on why WWE changed plan..

Tony Khan Had Surprising Original Plans For Ring Of Honor

So the plan was no plan? While WWE and AEW are the most high profile wrestling promotions in the United States, they are far from the only companies in the industry. There are several other promotions out there who can offer all kinds of high quality wrestling action. One of them found a new owner this year, but it seems that the plans were not as intricate as expected. Back in March, AEW President Tony Khan announced that he had purchased Ring Of Honor. The company has since run two events and its titles have been regularly featured on AEW television, but it does not have a television deal of its own. According to Wrestling Observer Live, Khan originally had no plans for Ring Of Honor and purchased it so that other bidders, including WWE, could not acquire it. There is no word on what Khan plans to do with the company long term. Opinion: Well ok then. I do get the idea of purchasing a promotion so someone else can’t, but it is a little weird to think that Khan bought one of the thre..

They had an idea. AEW has been in the middle of all kinds of changes in recent months and things are only starting to settle down. This has included things behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera, some of which have impacted the other. The company had to make some changes and rewrite some of its original plans. Now we know what one of those original plans was going to be. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the original plan for the main event of All Out would have seen CM Punk defending the World Title against Maxwell Jacob Friedman. However, the match never took place as Punk broke his foot, resulting in the creation of the Interim World Title and a unification match taking place at All Out instead. There is no word on if AEW will ever run Punk vs. Friedman again, though Punk is set to be out of action until next spring due to a tricep injury. Opinion: It can be interesting to see what was going on before everything changed and that is what we got to see here. Punk v..

What Could Have Been: WWE Dropped A Story For Liv Morgan As She Moved To SmackDown

The more things change. WWE has a lot of things going on at once, which is made even more complicated as the roster is split into two different groups. While there is some crossover between Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, there are some wrestlers who almost never move over to the other show. Now it seems that one of the newest top SmackDown stars was almost in a very different spot. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the original plans for Judgment Day involved Liv Morgan being the foil for Rhea Ripley. The two faced off multiple times with Ripley often getting the better of things, but the story was to continue. However, Morgan would eventually move to SmackDown when she won the SmackDown Women’s Title at Money In The Bank. Since then, the story has changed to Edge and the Mysterios attempting to take out Judgment Day instead. It is not clear who will be dealing with Ripley. Opinion: This is a bit of a confusing story, as Ripley and Morgan had already had their matches and they ..

Catch Them Later? Vince McMahon’s Departure Shook Up Edge And Beth Phoenix Plans

Cancel that. We are less than a month removed from Vince McMahon leaving WWE and being officially gone from the company that he built into an empire. While that makes a huge difference on the business side of things, it is also going to make a huge difference in the television aspect. That seems to be the case when it comes to the status of some legendary names. According to PWInsider.com, the original plan for this week’s Monday Night Raw as well as Summerslam called for WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Beth Phoenix to appear. However, neither appeared and there is no word on when they will be back. The change is reportedly due to McMahon’s retirement, as the plans were changed. It is not clear on what the original plans for the pair were going to be. Opinion: While I’m sure Edge and Phoenix will be back, it is rather interesting that plans were changed for such big names at the last minute. It would be great to have them back for something with Judgment Day, but right now it seems that ..

They Had An Idea: Toni Storm Reveals Original Plans For Her Time In WWE

What could have been. One of the most interesting parts of WWE in recent years has been the amount of wrestlers walking away from the company. This has never been done in WWE history and some of the moves have been rather surprising. Not all of the wrestlers have been let go though, and now one name who left on her own has explained what was planned for her in WWE. During a recent interview on Talk Is Jericho, former WWE and current AEW star Toni Storm spoke about her time in WWE. Storm revealed that WWE was considering a love triangle between herself, Rick Boogs and Dolph Ziggler. Nothing ever happened with the story, which was part of the reason for Storm leaving the company. Storm said that she was depressed and knew that she needed to leave WWE, which led to her departure from the company in December 2021. Opinion: After seeing everything that happened to Storm in WWE, I don’t know if I can blame her for wanting to leave. WWE never did much with her and having her stand there whi..

WWE Has Limited Options For Ronda Rousey’s Next Challenger

They have options. WWE’s women’s division has come a very long way over the years and there is a good reason to believe that things could continue to improve. A lot of this is due tot he amount of talent that the division has, but things are in a bit of a bad spot at the moment. The division is down a few names, and that could create some issues for one of the titles in the near future. Earlier this week, Naomi and Sasha Banks walked out on WWE over issues with their creative directions. The original plans called for Banks to move on to challenge SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at Hell In A Cell, but now Rousey will be needing a new challenger. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the most likely choices are Shayna Baszler and Natalya, as it is believed that the two could give Rousey her best match. Rousey and Baszler are also close friends and it would be a dream match for the two of them. Opinion: Natalya was the first name that came to mind, as she is good for a..

Details On Tessa Blanchard’s Fallout With Women Of Wrestling, Original Plans

That could have gone differently. There are some very talented wrestlers in the world but there is often something that holds them back from reaching their true potential. That could be any of several possible options, and unfortunately they can prevent fans from seeing some very talented stars. It seems that is the case again, now with one of the more talented stars in the world. Earlier this month, Tessa Blanchard and Women Of Wrestling reportedly had a falling out, resulting in Blanchard’s relationship with the company and its owner, David McClane weakening. According to Fightful Select, Blanchard is no longer figured in to the company’s plans, including their initial television tapings, which were held last week. Blanchard’s association with the promotion was designed to be a rehabilitation project for her due to major promotions not showing any interest in her. The issues between the two sides began when CBS, Women Of Wrestling’s television partner, canceled a planned tryout mat..

How WWE Reportedly Changed Plans For A Recent Title Change

That was different. WrestleMania 38 weekend has come and gone and there was a lot taking place in WWE. In addition to the namesake WrestleMania pay per view, there was also a stand alone NXT event, plus Monday Night Raw. While these two shows rarely have anything in common, that was the case this week, and now we know something more about how fast things changed. On Saturday, Dolph Ziggler retained the NXT Title over Bron Breakker at Stand & Deliver. Two days later, Breakker took the title from Ziggler in a match not announced until the night of the show. According to Wrestling Observer Live, the original plans called for Ziggler to hold the title for “awhile”, with a commercial airing during Monday Night Raw advertising Ziggler as champion. While not confirmed, the theory was that Breakker was to be called up to the main roster but then WWE changed their minds. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that WWE tends to do time after time, which doesn’t exactly make things that much better..

Big E.’s Injury Has Changed WrestleMania 38 Plans

What could have been. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to anyone in wrestling. In addition and far secondary to the health issues that can come with them, they can derail someone’s storyline in the blink of an eye. No matter what they might have had going on, things can be in need of a change. That is the case again this week, as a horrible injury has changed some WrestleMania plans. Big E. suffered a broken neck this week on SmackDown, when he landed on his head from a belly to belly suplex on the floor from Ridge Holland. According to Fightful Select, this will likely change WWE’s original plans for WrestleMania 38, which would have seen New Day face Holland, Sheamus and Butch, better known as Pete Dunne, who debuted before the SmackDown match. There is no word on what will be done with the match. Opinion: What matters most here is Big E.’s health of course, but this is the kind of thing that is going to have quite the ripple effect throughout WWE. I know they c..
