Santino Marella Debuts In Impact Wrestling

He’s back! At tonight’s Impact Wrestling Hard to Kill pay-per-view event, former WWE superstar Santino Marella made his debut in Impact Wrestling. Marella made his entrance after Moose used a low blow to defeat Joe Hendry and announced that he is now in the role of the Director of Authority. He then restarted the match, which led to Hendry getting the win and retaining the Digital Media Championship. You can see a clip of the return below: .@milanmiracle is HERE and is the BRAND NEW Director of Authority! @TheMooseNation and @joehendry CONTINUES! #HardToKill pic.twitter.com/CY68Ndy8hF — IMPACT (@IMPACTWRESTLING) January 14, 2023 According to a report from WrestlingNews.co, Marella, whose real name is Anthony Carelli, is able to use the “Santino Marella” name because WWE abandoned the trademark some time ago and it was registered by attorney Mike Dockins last month. He retired from WWE due to neck issues and he has been running the BattleArts school/promotion in Toronto. Editor’s ..

Impact Wrestling Date: December 29, 2022 Hosts: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan It’s the final show of the year and that means we’re going Best Of. It has been a pretty strong year for Impact, as there have been quite a few stars coming and going, along with some rather awesome matches throughout. We’ll also get the Year End Awards, which are often rather fun. Let’s get to it. Note that I’ll be posting the full versions of the matches shown rather than the clipped versions in the broadcast. Back in and Morrissey hits some running splashes in the corner until Moose crossbodies him down. The middle rope chokebomb gives Moose two, with Cardona making the sav..

REVIEW: Impact Wrestling Hard To Kill 2022: They’re Really Good

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? REVIEW Bound For Glory 2019: Their Big One

Bound For Glory 2019 Date: October 20, 2019 Location: Odeum Expo Center, Villa Park, Illinois Commentators: Don Callis, Josh Matthews It’s the biggest night of the year and that could mean a lot of things this time around. In addition, we have Ken Shamrock returning to the ring to face Moose because….star power I guess? Let get to it. A ve..

Impact Wrestling Results – June 9, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: June 9, 2022 Location: Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee, Florida Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We are rapidly approaching Slammiversary and that means it is time to start filling out the card. The main event is set but we still need to add in a few more spots here and there. This includes another name in the Ultimate X match, plus a likely Moose vs. Sami Callihan match. Let’s get to it. The opening sequence looks at Sami Callihan attacking Moose last week. Callihan wants Moose. Opening sequence, again featuring a classic TNA theme. Tenille Dashwood vs. Rosemary Madison Rayne is here too. Rosemary knocks her into the corner to start and a ram into the buckle makes it worse. Dashwood manages to get in a shot of her own though and pulls Rosemary outside for a crash to take over. Back in and the Upside Down doesn’t get Rosemary very far as Dashwood clotheslines her down. A full nelson is broken up though and a double clothesline gives them both a..

Former World Champion Makes Surprise Return Over The Weekend

Welcome back. In almost any wrestling promotion, the World Title is what matters the most. Someone holding that title means that they have arrived as a major star and that they have become one of the most important people in the promotion. Even after they lose the title, they will always be a former World Champion and that has some value. One of those made his return this week after a long absence. Former Impact Wrestling World Champion Sami Callihan made his return to the company on Saturday at Under Siege. Moose had come to the ring and said that he was hijacking the show, which caused the lights to go out and a video to play announcing Callihan’s return as he cleared Moose from the ring. Callihan had been out of action since September after suffering a broken ankle. "THE DEATH MACHINE IS BACK!"@TheSamiCallihan #UnderSiege pic.twitter.com/1ilp52HpEe — IMPACT (@IMPACTWRESTLING) May 8, 2022 Opinion: Your mileage on Callihan may vary but he has been a star in Impact Wrestling since ..

Impact Wrestling Results – April 28, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: April 28, 2022 Location: Majed J. Nesheiwat Convention Center, Poughkeepsie, New York Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt We’re done with Rebellion and the big story is that Josh Alexander got the World Title back from Moose in a heck of a main event. Other than that, we are less than two weeks away from Under Siege and need to get a card together pretty fast. Odds are we’ll be seeing a bunch of rematches so let’s get to it. The opening recap looks at Rebellion in rapid fashion. Opening sequence. Here is Violent By Design for a chat. Eric Young talks about desiring power and control, and that is exactly what they went and got. Now they have defeated seven teams and are the permanent Tag Team Champions. If you are being honest, their success shouldn’t surprise you and there is no team anywhere that can take them down. Cue Heath and Rhino to say they want the Tag Team Titles but here are the Briscoes to interrupt. Jay says Dem Boys are in the house an..

Impact Wrestling Rebellion 2022 Results

Rebellion 2022 Date: April 24, 2022 Location: Majed J. Nesheiwat Convention Center, Poughkeepsie, New York Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan It’s back to pay per view for Impact and this time they have made me want to see what they have to offer. The main event is a long awaited showdown between Moose and Josh Alexander for the World Title, after Moose took the title at Bound For Glory and then went after Alexander’s family. The rest of the card looks pretty good too so let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Eddie Edwards vs. Chris Bey Bey is replacing an injured Jonathan Gresham. There are no seconds here for a change and the fans are behind Bey, complete with the TOO SWEET chants. Feeling out process to start with Bey grabbing a headscissors but getting taken down with a shot to the face. An overhead belly to belly suplex drops Bey again but he fires off some kicks to send Edwards outside. There’s the big running flip dive, sending Rehwoldt into an Inception reference. Edwards hits..

Hand It Over: Multiple Titles Change Hands Saturday Night

It was a busy night. Titles are the easiest concept to understand in all of wrestling. Someone has a shiny belt and it means that they are the best at what they do. Someone else is going to want to take it from them and the two will have a match as a result. A title change can mean a lot when it takes place and that is what happened on Saturday, with multiple titles changing hands. Impact Wrestling held its Rebellion 2022 event on Saturday night and three titles changed hands on the show. First up, Taya Valkyrie defeated Deonna Purrazzo to win the AAA Reina de Reinas Title, though Purrazzo’s Ring Of Honor Women’s Title was not on the line. Next, Ace Austin defeated reigning champion Trey Miguel and Mike Bailey to become a three time X-Division Champion. Finally, Josh Alexander won the Impact Wrestling World Title from Moose, becoming a two time champion. Knockouts Tag Team Champions the Influence, Tag Team Champions Violent By Design and Knockouts Champion Tasha Steelz retained their ..

Impact Wrestling Date: March 17, 2022 Location: Paristown Hall, Louisville, Kentucky Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We’re still on the road to Rebellion and this week features the in-ring return of Josh Alexander against Matt Taven. Alexander is back in the company after a few weeks off due to visa issues and now he is probably going to need a small bit of build on the way to his World Title shot against Moose. Let’s get to it. In Memory of Scott Hall. The opening recap looks at Josh Alexander’s return and his match with Matt Taven being set up. Motor City Machine Guns vs. Chris Bey/Jay White White and Shelley start things off with White still not giving him a handshake. Sabin comes in and a double dropkick puts White on the floor rather quickly. It’s off to Bey, who gets headlocked takeovered by Sabin, with Shelley tagging himself in for a kick to the ribs. The Guns start taking turns on Bey’s arm, setting up a couple of kicks to the chest for two. White’s save attem..

Former World Champion Makes Surprise Return At Impact Wrestling: Sacrifice

Surprise surprise. There have been a lot of moves made from on almost every wrestling promotions roster in the last several months and all kinds of wrestlers have jumped from company to company. That has happened so often that it is almost strange to see someone stick around, but it does happen from time to time. It was the situation again this week when a big return went down. The main event of this weekend’s Impact Wrestling Sacrifice event saw Moose successfully defend the World Title against Heath. After the match was over, Josh Alexander made his return to the company after three weeks away, announcing that he had signed a new long term contract with Impact Wrestling. This came after Alexander’s previous contract had expired and he had returned to Canada. Alexander also said that he would be challenging for the World Title at Rebellion on April 23. Opinion: This is something that Impact Wrestling almost had to do as Alexander has been the centerpiece of the company for most of t..

Impact Wrestling Results – March 3, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: March 3, 2022 Location: Alario Center, Westwego, Louisiana Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan Somehow it’s already the go home show for Sacrifice and the card is mostly set. The big match on the show seems to be the Tag Team Title match as Moose defending the World Title against Heath is only so important. Odds are they will add one or two more things to the card tonight so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Eddie Edwards vs. Steve Maclin Maclin starts the brawl in the aisle and they slug it out, with Maclin hitting a running knee. They go inside for the opening bell and Maclin punches him right back to the floor, setting up a hard suicide dive. Back in and Eddie grabs a Blue Thunder Bomb to take over but they trade running forearms for a double knockdown. They slug it out until Maclin hits a running clothesline but Eddie catches him on top with a running boot. Maclin knocks him into the Tree of Woe and hits the spear in the corner to..

Impact Wrestling Date: February 24, 2022 Location: Alario Center, Westwego, Louisiana Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan It’s time for a fresh taping cycle as No Surrender has come and gone. The big story coming out of the show was Eddie Edwards turning on Impact Wrestling to join Honor No More, meaning he has a lot of splainin to do. Other than that, Moose needs a new challenger for Sacrifice on the way to Rebellion. Let’s get to it. The opening recap looks at the rise of Honor No More and the big showdown at No Surrender, where Eddie Edwards turned on the company. Opening sequence. Here is still World Champion Moose for a chat. Moose isn’t happy that he has worked so hard and fought so much but now all everyone is talking about is Eddie Edwards. He fought to retain the World Title and nothing changed. Look what happened to people like Josh Alexander and Matt Cardona after he beat them. The Lord knows what is going to happen to W. Morrissey now that he lost. Cue Heath o..

Reigning World Champion Working Through Serious Injury, Will Need Surgery

It’s the risk you take. There are all kinds of wrestlers in the world today but only a handful of them make it to the top of the industry. The easiest way to recognize a wrestler’s success is with a title, as they tend to go to the top stars in the wrestling world. That is the case with various World Champions today, but one of them has been defending his title with a pretty nasty health issue. During an interview with PWInsider.com, Impact Wrestling World Champion Moose has revealed that he has suffered a torn labrum. Moose is planning to work through the injury for now, though he knows that he will eventually have to take an extended time away from the ring to fix the problem. He also said that he has worked through this kind of pain before, as he played a full NFL season with a torn rotator cuff. Opinion: That’s never good to hear, but if Moose can work through it, that’s awesome news for the fans. Moose is a great choice as World Champion as he feels like the most dominant person..

Impact Wrestling Results – February 17, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: February 17, 2022 Location: Charles Dodge Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan It’s the go home show for No Surrender and the show is looking good. We have a double main event of W. Morrissey challenging Moose for the World Title, plus Honor No More fighting Team Impact to stick around the company. There is enough other good stuff here to make me interested in the show so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Here is Moose for the No Surrender contract signing. Scott D’Amore is in the ring but before W. Morrissey comes out, Moose explains what a contract signing means. There is no Morrissey for some reason, but D’Amore says Morrissey can sign the contract any time in the next two days. Moose isn’t happy, but if Morrissey makes the match, pain is waiting on him. He signs and then goes to leave, where Morrissey jumps him on the ramp. The fight is on and Moose gets chokeslammed off the stage and through a well placed table. Now..

Impact Wrestling Results – February 10, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: February 10, 2022 Location: Charles Dodge Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We’re almost up to No Surrender and the card is starting to look good. What makes things all the better is that the entire show has been working in the last few weeks. The Bullet Club is here and seems to be going after the Tag Team Titles, which is better than putting them near the top of the card. Other than that, Honor No More continues to look interesting and I want to know where they’re going in the long run. Let’s get to it. The opening recap looks at W. Morrissey attacking Moose on the way to their World Title match. Opening sequence. Here is Josh Alexander for a chat, but first he has to soak in some WALKING WEAPON chants. He isn’t about to let Impact Wrestling go to war against Honor No More without him so he’ll be there at No Surrender. That isn’t the only match at No Surrender, as W. Morrissey is going for the World Title against ..

Impact Wrestling Results – February 3, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: February 3, 2022 Location: Charles Dodge Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We are on the way to No Surrender and things are starting to pick up. The main event is already set with W. Morrissey getting his World Title shot against Moose, but there is another major match on the card in a different way. The other major match will see a team of Impact wrestlers facing off with Honor No More, which should boost the story that much more. Other than that, the Bullet Club seems to be here again. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Digital Media Title: Matt Cardona vs. Jordynne Grace Cardona is challenging and shoves Grace around a few times to start, which has Grace a bit surprised. Grace’s running shoulders don’t do much good so she trips Cardona down instead. Cardona misses a neckbreaker but Grace misses a Vader bomb, allowing Cardona to suplex her into the corner. A regular suplex drops Grace again and ther..

Impact Wrestling Results – January 27, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: January 27, 2022 Location: Charles Dodge Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We continue on the road to No Surrender and now we know what we are going to be getting in the show’s main event. W. Morrissey will be challenging Moose for the World Title in what should be a heck of a hoss fight. Other than that, we have the continuing adventures of Honor No More, which at least now has a name. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Chris Bey vs. Jake Something Bey dropkicks him into the corner at the bell but runs into a big backdrop. A right hand rocks Bey and it’s time to head outside. That means a face first drop onto the apron but Bey is right back with a positing. There’s a dive to the floor to drop Something again and a basement dropkick sends him into the corner. Something’s comeback is cut off with a neckbreaker and a superkick drops him for two. The chinlock doesn’t last long as Something fights up to p..

Impact Wrestling Results – January 20, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: January 20, 2022 Location: Bomb Factory, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Tom Hannifan The march to No Surrender is on and that means it is time to start setting up a card. Impact continues to be doing fairly well, and the question now is what is next for Moose and the World Title. By that, I mean getting to defend against W. Morrissey. For once I’m actually curious to see how things are going here and that is nice to be able to say, at least partially because of the Ring of Honor invasion. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Tasha Steelz vs. Chelsea Green Mickie James is on commentary and Savannah Evans is here with Steelz. Green sends her into the corner to start but gets run over, allowing Steelz to hammer away. Some shouting at Mickie doesn’t seem to cause Steelz too many problems but Green blocks the crucifix bomb. A jumping cutter drops Green for two but she’s right back up with a lifting Downward Spiral for her own near fall. Back up and Steel..

Impact Wrestling Results – January 13, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: January 13, 2022 Location: Bomb Factory, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Tom Hannifan, D’Lo Brown We are fresh off the outstanding Hard To Kill, which was one of the best shows that Impact has ever done. In addition to some great matches, a group of former Ring of Honor wrestlers invaded the show, which feels like it could be the start of something very good. Let’s get to it. The opening recap looks at all of the matches from Hard To Kill, plus the invasion, albeit not in order. A furious W. Morrissey arrives and wants Moose. Morrissey comes into the arena and calls Moose out. He had Moose beaten for a ten count at Hard To Kill, even though Moose practically stole his World Title. Just once, have the balls to face someone man to man. Moose can come out here or look over his shoulder for the rest of his life. Instead, Moose pops up on screen to say Morrissey didn’t have him beaten. There will be a World Title match tonight but Morrissey won’t be in it. Instead, he..
