It would be big. Wrestling fans today have access to more content than they ever could have dreamed possible. The rise of streaming services allows fans to see all kinds of wrestling from around the world with ease and that can make things a lot easier. It also leaves some fans wondering where to start and now that decision might be getting even more complicated. That’s, uh, something. We are coming up on the beginning of the new year and that means it is time to start getting ready for some new stuff. For WWE, that means continuing the build to the Royal Rumble, which will include sixty wrestlers being used in two matches. They had an idea. Stables are a concept that has worked in wrestling for decades and continues to do so to this day. It makes a lot of sense as well, as a stable allows several people with anywhere from identical to even somewhat related goals a chance to be on television together. WWE has used them for years, but there was one reincarnation that they passed on instead. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: VIDEO: Kurt Angle’s Huge Birthday Celebration Continues After SmackDown Ends Back in 2015, a group of international stars joined forces as the League Of Nations. The team, comprised of Wade Barrett, Rusev, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio, were a force in WWE until April 2016 when they split up for good. During an appearance on the 10 Count podcast, former WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley revealed that WWE had considered relaunching the League Of Nations with Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and himself. Rawley did not say when this would have taken place or how far along the plans went. Rawley’s role in the group..
It’s a gig. Wrestlers have a rather unique career path, but at the end of the day, everyone has to move on from the ring at some point. That is easier said than done for a lot of people though as some of them do not have another place to go. That can be the case for some top stars, some of whom try more than a few odd directions. That seems to be the case again. As part of the festivities around his final match, Ric Flair and Kitchen Data Systems have announced the opening of a virtual restaurant called WOOOOO! Wings. The restaurant will open for deliveries in Nashville, Tennessee, the location of Flair’s last match, on July 28 before launching nationwide the next day. Flair’s final match will take place on July 31 against an opponent to be named. Here is the press release: Ric Flair Launches Wooooo! Wings Virtual Restaurant with Kitchen Data Systems 16-time World Champion and 2-time WWE Hall of Famer partners with technology and services company Kitchen Data Systems to roll out Wo..
NXT LVL Up Date: May 13, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Sudu Shah, Nigel McGuinness We’re in an interesting place on NXT as the show is now featuring some of the people who started here. It makes this one feel a bit more like a launching pad and that could open up some doors for something more interesting. Then again, it might have absolutely nothing to do with anything going on here. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Sanga vs. Dante Chen Sanga throws him into the corner to start but Chen swings out of a slam to set up an armbar. A side slam cuts Chen off and some shots to the back of the neck make it worse. The cobra clutch sets up a missed legdrop and Chen hits a quick short DDT. Sanga blasts him with a clothesline and finishes with the chokeslam at 5:07. Result: Sanga b. Dante Chen – Chokeslam (5:07) Elektra Lopez vs. Thea Hail Lopez powers her into the ropes to start but Hal grabs a rather nifty headlock. Some shoulders stagger Hail bu..
It would be a step. Back in 2014, WWE changed the way the wrestling world worked by launching the WWE Network. The company was suddenly opening their video vault, allowing fans to see so much of the material they have presented over the years for a cheap price. It was an amazing thing for wrestling fans, and now the company might be getting ready to look at some competition. During a recent edition of Ask Tony Live from Adfreeshows.com, AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone said that he believed AEW would have its own streaming service by the end of 2022. While Schiavone acknowledged that he did not know this for a fact, he said that he believed it based on conversations he had been having with people in the company. Schiavone also said that he had heard AEW would eventually make it to HBO Max. AEW has done a lot in its brief history. Plans change. You never know what kind of surprises you might see in wrestling and that can be both good and bad. Sometimes something will catch you off guard and can change what you think you will be seeing next. However, it might also seem like something happens that derails entire plans. That seemed to be the case this week, but it might not be as confusing as it seems. The main event of this week’s NXT Halloween Havoc saw Tommaso Ciampa successfully defeat Bron Breakker to retain the NXT Title. Prior to the match, the WrestleVotes Twitter account had said that the match would be the start of the Breakker era in NXT. Following the loss, another WrestleVotes tweet said that the loss is part of Breakker’s rise to the top of NXT. While there was a discussion about Breakker winning the title, the decision was ultimately made to have Ciampa retain. There is no word on when Breakker will win the title. Source states that tonight’s Halloween Havoc looks to be the launching of the Bron Br..
The bar has been set. WWE has recently posted a new video to its YouTube page in which they show the entire 2012 Royal Rumble match. Sheamus was the victor that year and went on to WrestleMania to challenge for the championship of his choosing. You can see the match in ins entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: It was a grueling battle for the powerhouse who drew No. 22. Entering before a sold-out crowd that had already witnessed Ricardo Rodriguez rolling to the ring in an ’85 Datsun, Kofi Kingston walking on his hands to avoid elimination and Michael Cole jumping over the top rope to escape the wrath of Kharma, The Celtic Warrior immediately made his presence felt by launching Kingston out of the ring. From there, the Rumble became a demolition derby of battered bodies and unpredictable arrivals. Booker T, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Michael Cole all left the broadcast booth at one point to try their luck in the bout, but were quickly sent back t..
On June 18th and 19th, the United Kingdom Championship tournament will be filmed in the Royal Albert Hall in London. It will air a week later on the WWE Network. The event is being used to promote the UK series that is currently being developed. However, that isn’t what WWE officials originally had in mind for the United Kingdom tournament. The original concept was to bring back the “King of the Ring” tournament for the event and use it as a launching pad for the UK series. According to a report from DirtySheets, the original plans for the UK King of the Ring tournament were rumored. There was a lot of speculation from the WWE Universe about the concept coming back this year. Related: “King of the Ring” Could Be Returning to WWE However, Triple H and WWE never specifically mentioned or promoted the tournament with King of the Ring attached to it. As a result, it was easy to scrap those plans. It’s still plausible WWE could be planning a surprise for the event, but that seems very un..
