REVIEW: WrestleMania 29: Round Two

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Wrestlemania XXIX Date: April 7, 2013 Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey Attendance: 80,676 Commentators: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s Rock vs. John Cena II and I don’t think you need to hear anything else about the main event. With that match out of the way, the biggest name left is the Undertaker, who will be facing CM Punk in a match that might have been better had it been for the title. This time it’s personal though, as Paul Bearer had recently passed away, leaving ..

No Way Out 2000 Date: February 27, 2000 Location: Hartford Civic Center, Hartford, Connecticut Attendance: 12,551 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler This is more or less about one thing: Hell in a Cell. If Cactus Jack loses, he retires. Other than that there isn’t a lot to talk about. Oh actually there is. At the Rumble, Big Show had been thrown out but claimed that Rock was out first. Tonight there’s a match where the winner goes to Mania. The Radicals are here now also so we have a fully fleshed out roster for th..

Impact Wrestling Date: February 16, 2023 Location: Osceola Heritage Park, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt We are some amount of days away from No Surrender and that means it is time for some other qualifying match for the #1 contenders match. Other than that, hopefully we get more build towards Josh Alexander defending the World Title against Rich Swann. Also hopefully, we get less build towards the eventual Tommy Dreamer vs. Bully Ray showdown. Let’s get to it. In Memory Of Jerry Jarrett. Opening recap. Chris Bey vs. Kushida Ace Austin/the Motor City Machine Guns are the seconds. Kushida takes him down without much trouble to start with Bey having to bail to the ropes. Bey picks up the speed and sweeps out the leg before hitting a kick to the head. They head outside with Kushida getting sent into the apron, only to kick the arm out on the way back inside. The arm is slammed into the mat and Kushida twists it around for a bonus. Bey heads outside and ..

Elimination Chamber 2014 Date: February 23, 2014 Location: Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota Commentators: John Bradshaw Layfield, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole Tonight is the final big stop on the Road to Wrestlemania with six men possibly leaving with the WWE Championship. However there might be an even more interesting match on the card with the Wyatt Family vs. the Shield in a ..

Dynamite Date: February 15, 2023 Location: Sames Auto Arena, Laredo, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We are less than a month away from Revolution and as of last week, we officially have a main event. Bryan Danielson earned his title shot against MJF, which will come in the form of a sixty minute iron man match. With that out of the way, the rest of the card needs to be built up so let’s get to it. In Memory of Jerry Jarrett. Jeff Jarrett/Jay Lethal/Sonjay Dutt/Satnam Singh vs. Orange Cassidy/Billy Gunn/Acclaimed Bowens runs Lethal over to start and it’s off to Caster for two off a powerslam. Jarrett comes in and drops Caster before handing it off to Singh. Gunn, who almost a foot shorter than Singh, wants to come in but it’s Cassidy coming in instead. Actually it’s Dutt getting Cassidy instead……or actually make that Billy vs. Jeff. Cue the Gunns to mock the scissoring before telling various people to suck it. Lethal gets in a knee to the back to take Billy down ..

Grayson Waller vs. Tyler Bate Waller takes him to the rope to start the choking, while shouting that Shawn Michaels bet on the wrong horse. Royal Rumble 2003 Date: January 19, 2003 Location: Fleet Center, Boston, Massachusetts Attendance: 15,338 Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz, Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler This is a really odd entry in the series as the namesake match is being treated as secondary to almost everything else. Really, coming into this show, there’s a good argument to be made that Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie is being treated as a bigger deal than the Rumble itself. Let’s get to it. The opening video is your standard montage of w..
