A Rare Breed: Rhea Ripley Reveals Special Privilege WWE Grants Her

That’s something special. There are all kinds of things that need to come together to make a wrestler a success. At or near the top of the list is the ability to talk, as it can make the fans care about you in a way that almost anything in the ring just cannot do. Being able to use the right words help, and now another WWE star is revealing a special privilege that she has when it comes to talking. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Oh No: Former Impact Wrestling Star Arrested For Violating Order of Protection Involving Wife During a new interview with Sports Media with Richard Deitsch, Monday Night Raw star Rhea Ripley revealed that she has some creative freedom with promos. While there are promos where she is required to say certain things to get points across and cannot change much, she has “free range” on backstage segments. Such freedom when it comes to promos are not common in WWE, with only a handful of wrestlers being granted such permission. Ripley is quite the star. Check out her rece..

WATCH: The Bloodline In Action After SmackDown

It was a busy night. The Bloodline saga has dominated WWE TV for the better part of three years now and the team continues its path of destruction throughout the company. There is no guarantee that things are going to change anytime soon and it still means a lot to have the team in action. That was the situation this week as fans were granted something special after the cameras quit rolling. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Firefly Fun House May Have Teased Former Champion’s Return The last segment of this week’s SmackDown saw Sami Zayn confront Jimmy Uso before being chased off by Solo Sikoa. Now a video has surfaced from after the show, featuring Uso and Sikoa facing the OC in a dark match. The video does not include the opening of the match but does feature the finish. The OC has not wrestled a televised match since the January 9 Monday Night Raw. That’s how you send them home. WATCH: WWE Continues To Erase Bryan Danielson From Its History

The new history. There have been all kinds of moments and incidents throughout WWE history, some of which are more notable than others. In most cases, the issues are written in black and white, but there are some cases that can be a bit more of a gray area. Now WWE is changing something up from what once was pretty straightforward to something a bit more complicated. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Extension Granted: Sami Zayn’s Original Plans With The Bloodline Were Very, Very Different In the 2023 edition of the Rumble By The Numbers video, the all time longevity record is once again held by Rey Mysterio in the 2006 Royal Rumble. This changes from previous editions, which listed Daniel Bryan’s 2018 performance in the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia as the longer run. There is no word on why WWE made the change but the Greatest Royal Rumble stats are included in other records in the video. There’s the history. Check out Rumble By The Numbers and a look at both runs in the Royal Rumble..

Extension Granted: Sami Zayn’s Original Plans With The Bloodline Were Very, Very Different

It wasn’t in the cards. WWE has a lot going on at any given time and it can be a bit difficult to keep track of everything taking place at once. You know a special story or moment when you see one though and that is certainly the case with the top story in WWE today. However, it turns out that the original plan for the angle went a lot differently than what wound up on television. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Mystery Solved: Missing WWE Star Explains Her Four Month Absence The Bloodline has been the top story in WWE for over a year now and the last several months have focused on Sami Zayn’s involvement. This is expected to continue at the Royal Rumble, where Zayn is to show his loyalty to the team. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there was no original plan to make Zayn a star. Zayn’s story with the team was expected to last about three weeks but he kept making everything work. Eventually WWE decided to let him run with it and he became a much bigger star as a result. There is no wor..

Frankie Kazarian Leaves AEW; Joins Impact Wrestling

Sometimes you need a new job. At tonight’s Impact Wrestling Hard to Kill pay-per-view event, Frankie Kazarian announced that he had signed a new, long-term contract with the promotion. Kazarian cut a promo during the show, stating that after wrestling from Impact, he had to decide whether to remain complacent and be with “people he thought were his friends” or push himself and he chose to push himself. According to a report from PWInsider, after his 40-minute match with Josh Alexander, Kazarian asked AEW to be released and it was granted. It was said to be a completely amicable situation based on Kazarian wanting to push himself harder as he’s getting closer to the latter point of his career. In Impact, he’d had a chance to be more in the mix than he’d likely be able to get the opportunity to do in AEW, given how massive that company’s roster is. It was said that Kazarian “did business the right way” and would be welcomed back into their locker room anytime. Editor’s Opinion: I ab..

NXT LVL Up Results – November 18, 2022

NXT LVL Up Date: November 18, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Sudu Shah, Byron Saxton We are on the way to Survivor Series and for once there was something a little different here last week. Granted it was just a six man tag but after the months of the same formula, a little change was nice to see. There is no reason to believe that will stick this week, but at least they made things better once. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Thea Hail vs. Dani Palmer The rest of Chase U is here with Hail and this is Palmer’s debut. Palmer even shakes hands with Chase U to start so she seems rather nice. They fight over arm control to start, with Hail getting the better of things off an armbar. A springboard wristdrag keeps Palmer in trouble before we get the armbar sequel. Back up and Palmer flips her over to set up a standoff in a bit of a surprise. Palmer manages to grab an abdominal stretch, which Hail breaks away from to start the comeback. A neckbre..

Alexa Bliss Goes Off Fans Who Abuse Wrestlers Online

She has a point. There is a lot that goes into being a professional wrestler and some of the more difficult aspects are often taken for granted. Unfortunately sometimes these aspects can be turned into negative situations that see the wrestlers treated far worse than they deserve. That has happened again and this time a WWE star is not taking any more of what she is hearing. Monday Night Raw’s Alexa Bliss recently spoke with Metro about the issues of dealing with negative fan reactions online. Bliss talked about the comments that she and fellow wrestlers receive after going out and trying to do their jobs while nowhere near 100%. In addition, Bliss said that taking shots at the wrestlers themselves rather than their characters was over the line. Here are some of Bliss’ comments: On Fans Trolling Wrestlers “I feel like a lot of people don’t really understand – nine times out of 10 when you see us performing, we are going on no sleep, we are going on beat up bodies because we do trave..

Malakai Black Debunks Several Rumors About Him, Reveals Death Threats

He would know. There has been a lot of movement in the wrestling world in recent months, with stars either jumping from one promotion to another or just taking some kind of a hiatus. That has led to some interesting changes in the wrestling landscape and it is not clear where it will all end. However, one star whose name has been discussed in recent weeks has spoken up and straightened a lot of things out. In recent weeks, Malakai Black has been reported to have left AEW or at least taken a hiatus from the company. Black released a statement saying he was recalibrating after several years and would need some time to think. This week, Black live streamed a video on his Instagram page, addressing several of the rumors and explaining some of his current situation. Here are some highlights: • Black’s contract with AEW is not for five years. • Black has been granted time off from AEW by Tony Khan to deal with some things. • He has received criticism over unconfirmed stories, including two..

WWE Announces Violent Match For Extreme Rules

Tie them up. There are a lot of stipulations that can be added to a match to make it more personal. That being said, the tricky part is to figure out which stipulation fits in with which story. That can be rather difficult and you can see when something doesn’t quite work. WWE has a hit and miss record with picking stipulations, but this time they seem to have figured it out quite well. This week on SmackDown, Drew McIntyre announced that he had requested and been granted a strap match against Karrion Kross at Extreme Rules on October 8. This comes after Kross has jumped McIntyre from behind multiple times. McIntyre said that he wanted the match so he would know where Kross was at all times. The two then brawled with the strap tying them together. Opinion: WWE seems to have gotten it right here as this stipulation does fit the story that they are telling. Kross has jumped McIntyre from behind multiple times but now Kross can’t sneaks up on him this time. I’m not sure how the match is..

Malakai Black Issues Statement Regarding Mental Health, AEW Release

He has spoken. Malakai Black took to social media recently and issued a statement regarding his status with AEW, mental health issues, and more. This comes after reports surfaced that he requested and was granted his release from the company. The statement reads as follows: All. Firstly thank you all for your messages, know they are being read and appreciated. With all the turmoil going on in the landscape of Professional Wrestling I took the time to think of my words but also needed to wait until conversations between mine and AEW’s camp had come to a conclusion. Firstly, I dislike reading parts of my private conversations between myself and AEW in regards to my mental well being on the internet. These conversations were private and not meant to be shared with the public. As by now most people realize I am a very private person and do not feel the need to have stuff like this out on the internet. If you’ve been following me longer than a cup of coffee you’re aware I’ve spoken abou..

REVIEW: New York Wrestling Connection Psycho Circus 17: What A Concept

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Psycho Circus 17 Date: February 23, 2019 Location: NYWC Sportatorium, Deer Park, New York Commentators: Christopher Andrews, Matt Striker This is from the New York Wrestling Connection, a promotion out of New York (shocking I know) that has been around for almost twenty years. As is usually the case, I know nothing about the show coming in and that can make things fun. Granted I’m not sure how much fun a show called Psycho Circus is going to be but let’s get to it. Keep in mind that I know nothing about this plac..

NXT In Your House 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

This is the kind of show that NXT needs every now and then and thankfully they haven’t gone too nuts and done them every month. At some point you need to have a big, special show and this time around you have a fairly stacked show. Granted the main event might not be the most exciting, but at least the show is taking place. Let’s get to it. Women’s Tag Team Titles: Toxic Attraction(c) vs. Katana Chance/Kayden Carter This is one of those matches that is made a bit more interesting by the fact that Toxic Attraction has lost the titles before. As a result, it means that another loss is not out of the question, which opens up some doors. Granted I don’t know how wide those doors are, but at least there is an option. Toxic Attraction has held the titles longer than anyone in history, with their reigns lasting all but three days since late October. That’s quite the target and that should be a good thing here. I’ll go with Chance/Carter to win here, as they are one of the only women’s teams..

Pile Them On: Three New Matches Announced For AEW Double Or Nothing

That’s a lot of new stuff. We are just over a week away from AEW’s Double Or Nothing pay per view and that means the majority of the card is set. The key word there is majority though, as there is always time to add something else to the show. AEW did just that this week, as three more matches were announced for the show within the span of an hour of television. AEW announced three new matches for Double Or Nothing during this week’s edition of Rampage. First, the Young Bucks challenged the Hardys to a tag match, which was made official later in the show. Next, the Death Triangle unveiled a tombstone with HOUSE OF BLACK and the Double Or Nothing logo, confirming that their match will take place as well. Finally, Jade Cargill challenged Anna Jay to a TBS Title match after Jay chased Cargill off earlier in the night. Opinion: This is the kind of night that can make a show get a lot bigger in a hurry and that is what happened here. Granted that might not be the best thing, as Double Or ..

AEW Rampage Results – May 13, 2022

Rampage Date: May 13, 2022 Location: UBS Arena, Belmont Park, New York Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Chris Jericho We’re still in the weird time slot due to some kind of playoffs (basketpuck or hockball I believe) and that means a grand total of nothing on this show. Granted it means very few people are going to watch it, but it isn’t like that is AEW’s fault in this case. This week is going to have some Owen Hart Foundation tournament action so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Death Triangle vs. Butcher/Blade/Marq Quen Penta does the CERO MIEDO to Blade to start and then kicks him in the ribs. Pac comes in to hold Blade in place for the top rope double stomp What’s Up. Jericho’s voice sounds more than a bit off as Butcher comes in to take over on Pac. That doesn’t last long as Butcher is sent outside, allowing Fenix and Quen to come in. A pop up dropkick puts Fenix down and he gets sent outside for a whip into the barricade as we take a break. Back with Fenix fighting out of a f..

WrestleMania Backlash 2022 Live Coverage And Results

Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 Date: May 8, 2022 Location: Dunkin Donuts Center, Providence, Rhode Island Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee, Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton it’s time for a pay per view that feels like it has been little more than an obligation as the show is six matches long with a number of title matches. Granted in this case that number is one but take what you can get. The main event is a six man tag for reasons that I’m still not clear on but maybe the in-ring work can make up for it. Let’s get to it. The opening sequence looks at Wrestlemania and how we got here. The post WrestleMania Backlash 2022 Live Coverage And Results appeared first on WrestlingRumors.net.

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – May 2, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: May 2, 2022 Location: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the go home show for Wrestlemania Backlash and that means it is time for the final push towards the event. Granted after last week’s Smackdown, everything has changed again as we have a six man tag between the Bloodline and RKBro/Drew McIntyre. Yeah just a six man, with no titles currently on the line. Let’s get to it. Here is the Bloodline to get things going. Paul Heyman handles Roman Reigns’ introduction and Reigns himself tells North Carolina to acknowledge him….but RKBro runs in to RKO the Usos. Cue Drew McIntyre with Angela the sword, leaving Reigns looking worried. The sword is dropped down so McIntyre gets in, with the Usos and RKBro joining them. Referees come down to break up the fight and we take an early break. Earlier today, Ezekiel met with the Street Profits and had a drink. Kevin Owens (in a Becky Lynch shirt) and Alp..

Monday Night Raw Star Undergoes An Odd Name Change

I’m not sure if that’s a name. Having the right ring name is one of the most important things about a wrestler’s entire career. If someone isn’t called the right thing, or even something good, you can leave the wrestler in a pretty bad place. WWE has a tendency to make some interesting choices when it comes to name changes and that seems to be the case all over again. This week on Monday Night Raw, Austin Theory appeared in a backstage segment where he was granted a United States Title shot next week. At the end of his portion of the segment, Theory said that he and Vince McMahon agreed that the “Austin” part of his name wasn’t working, meaning that his name is now just “Theory”. This comes after Theory was Stunned by Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38. Opinion: Theory? That’s really the best they could come up with him? Fans are going to know him as Austin Theory but now his name is just Theory? This is up there with Riddle for weird names and I still do not understand WWE’s obsession ..

NXT Stand & Deliver 2022 Preview, Thoughts And Predictions

Welcome back to not quite Takeover and we have an especially big card. Rather than having the usual five match card, this one already has seven, plus some mixed tag thing that doesn’t seem to be an official match. NXT is starting to get somewhere in recent weeks and now they need to translate that to a big show. Granted that might be easier said than done but you never can tell around here. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Women’s Tag Team Titles: Toxic Attraction(c) vs. Dakota Kai/Raquel Gonzalez This was added to the show on Tuesday as Kai and Gonzalez reunited in a moment that might not have been as emotional as WWE was hoping it to be. That being said, they are a team with some history and that is more than almost anyone else in the division (assuming there is one) at this point. It isn’t like there are any other challengers so maybe this will work out. I’ll go with new champions here, as Toxic Attraction aren’t exactly awash in challengers and it would be weird to do the big reuni..

NXT LVL Up Results – February 18, 2022 (Debut Episode)

NXT LVL Up Date: February 18, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Sudu Shah, Nigel McGuinness It’s a new show, which seems likely to be a fresh coat of pain with a new name for what 205 Live has been for the last several months. That does not exactly get my attention going, but 205 Live has been decent enough recently. Granted some of that was due to how short the show has been and that might be changing. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here are Joe Gacy and Harland for a chat. Gacy says that he told us he was an agent of change and now everyone is welcome around here. That’s why Harland will be in the first match on this show. Harland vs. Javier Bernal Harland hammers him in the corner and tosses him right back out of it. Bernal’s face is rammed into the mat over and over but he comes back with forearms and a dropkick. That’s broken up with no trouble and a belly to back slam (ala John Cena’s finishing sequence) gives Harland the pin at 2:04...

KB’s Review: A Stone Cold American Nightmare

There are weeks when I start this column with almost no idea what I should be talking about. While there might be a major wrestling story going on, it might be something that I had already talked about recently or there just isn’t enough to write a full column about it. Then there are weeks like this one, when there are two major stories that I can’t pick between. Therefore, I’m not going to try, meaning that this week we’ll be having a pair of mini columns about the two biggest wrestling stories of the week. First up, we’ll start with one of the biggest What If’s in recent memory: the possibility of Steve Austin returning to the ring in April for WrestleMania 38. Should Austin actually get in the ring, it would end his nineteen year retirement, marking one of the all time surprise returns to the ring. Austin has long since maintained that he is retired and not interested in a return to the ring, but the rumors have started up again for WrestleMania season. Now granted, there is a Te..
